Insider Update 3.8.1.1 is now live. This build returns to previewing features which will release in future updates. With this update, Custom Seas expands player customisation with new respawn and combat settings, alongside enhanced spawning tools featuring new enemies, Tall Tale items and improvements to treasure management.

New Switches
Skip Ferry of the Damned - This switch controls whether players will be sent to the Ferry of the Damned or respawned directly after death.
Reviving - This switch controls whether crewmates are able to revive downed players.
Skip Downed State – This switch controls whether players must wait through the full downed state before respawning or will respawn immediately.
Switches - Weapon Damage
Players now have full control over the damage of player weapons within a custom session. Damage for each weapon’s attacks can now be individually increased or decreased from their default values.
Weapon damage can also be set to negative values, allowing attacks to heal players or creatures. To heal crewmates ‘Friendly Fire’ must also be enabled.
Switches - Improvements
Command Menu - Spawn Creatures
Within the Spawn Creatures menu, players can now summon Order of Bone and Blade Skeletons and their Captain variants. While Order of Bone and Blade Skeletons will initially appear hostile, after being downed and revived they will become allied to the crew.
Players can now also summon The Mutinous Helmsman, The Two-Faced Scoundrel and The Duchess Skeleton Lords from the Skeleton Lord Category.
All creatures summoned from the Spawn Creatures menu will now appear with their nameplates.
Command Menu - Spawn Treasures
Within the Spawn Treasures menu, players now have access to a Tall Tales category providing a range of Quest Items and treasure found within the ‘Shores of Gold’ and ‘Ashen Age’ Tall Tales. While a range of items are now provided, items from ‘Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life’ and ‘The Legend of Monkey Island’ Tales are not available.
Lighthouse Logs and Smugglers' Heist Paintings have now been added to the Miscellaneous and Paintings categories.
Items with various treasure categories have been rearranged, to aid ease of use.
Reaper’s Bones Voyage Improvements
Crews taking on the Search for Ancient Secrets and Followers of the Flame Voyages on behalf of The Reaper’s Bones will no longer find themselves revealed on other crews’ Map Tables.
The Reaper’s Mark Flag will no longer be raised when starting the Voyage from the Quest Table and crews recovering the Skull of the Banished will now find it is no longer shown on the map.

Custom Seas
Currently, only one weapon slot can be set to unarmed at a time.
Setting the primary weapon to Unarmed in the ‘Override Weapon Loadout’ menu results in equipping players with the last used loadout.
Gameplay
Grapple Guns can no longer pull items through ship grates or inside the brig.
Cargo Runs now contribute correctly to Pirate and Ship Milestones.
Two players can no longer attempt to occupy the same cannon simultaneously.
Players choosing to Scuttle to a New Sea will now correctly migrate onto another server after their ship sinks.
Crew members disconnected from the game for longer than 10 minutes will now consistently have their inventory returned to the ship’s resource barrels.
Custom Seas
Ashen Lords defeated in Custom Seas now drop their standard rewards.
Player rosters will now be displayed grouped by crew.
Dive to Location now warns players when diving is unavailable.
Players can rename presets before selecting them.
The Free Camera can now be entered without remaining locked in emotes, disguises or cannon interactions.
Red Sea visuals now appear correctly in the Seas of Sailor's Grave and Damned Sea Dogs Tavern.
Weapon override options no longer allow both weapon slots to use a cutlass.
Presets now display their feature descriptions.
Wild Boar and Grand Boar icons now display correctly.
'Join with Code' button visuals now load correctly on first entry.
Environment
Visual and Audio
Lanterns, Grapple Gun bolts and blowpipe darts no longer appear in players' hands when switching items while crouching.
Blowpipe reload animations now appear correctly when rapidly switching dart types.
Blowpipe darts now disappear correctly in first and third person when fired.
Fashionista's Finery Gloves now more appropriately match the Hat of Unfeasibly Glorious Fame.
Mystery Egg Emote previews no longer affect subsequent emote previews.
Smouldering Pegasus Costume glow effects now appear correctly.
The Silver Coin Lantern’s flames now display correctly and with improved visibility.
User Interface
Text Chat and Zoom In/Out can now share the same controller keybind.
Guild Invite Friends menus can now be navigated correctly with controller inputs.
Text and Localisation
Attempting to sell an Ashen Chest to the wrong Trading Company now shows the correct guidance message.
Missing localisation has been added for July Pirate Emporium cosmetics.
The Recovery of Secret Shipment Voyage now displays correctly when attempting to Dive to Location from the Quest Table.
