This privacy policy is for the main website (geekya.com). Other services provided under subdomains may have additional or slightly different policies. In general however we don't like to track people and we most certainly don't steal, abuse or exploit your data. Please refer to the privacy policy for each respective sub-service.
Geekya.com (hereinafter "the Site") does not track its visitors by the means of cookies or tracking tools.
We do not share any data with any 3rd party unless a valid legal request forces us to do so.
If you have any further questions or inquiries please send a mail to privacy@geekya.com and we will reply as soon as possible.
The site records so called access logs (like virtually every site on the web).
These access logs will be stored for the duration of 30 days after which they get automatically deleted. Since we would have 30 days to respond to a GDPR deletion request there is no need to file one.
The site does not store tracking cookies or 3rd party cookies on your device. The site creates and stores session cookies on your device which will be automatically deleted if you close your browser. Session cookies are considered essential cookies and are not being used to track you. They might be used to idenfity you (autonomously by the system) for the purpose of authentication (login) and other similar applications.
The site may store settings (such as audio volume, light/dark mode, etc.) in cookies and/or local storage. They are not qualified to indentify you as a person and are only used to remember your preferences for your convenience.
Persistent cookies (such as "remember my login") are always optional and only for your convenience. While they might qualify to identify you (as is required for a login for example) they are not being used to track you.
In order to create an account with us you must provide a valid email address and a password. A username may be required to participate in certain activities. Any additional information is optional and serves only the voluntary completion of your account.
Your password will be stored with industry standards, that is a salted (bcrypt) hash. We do not store your password in plain text. If you forget your password you will have to set a new one by using the forgot password functionality. We recommend the use of a password manager.
We will not send you unsolicited emails. Only emails that are essential (e.g. email confirmation), concern your account security (e.g. password got changed), got invoked by you (e.g. reset password) or are legally required (change of terms) will be send to you.
You may optionally (never by default) subscribe to additional emails but you will always have the option to revert that decision in every email at the bottom or in your account settings.
You can always decide to delete your account with us. For the time beeing this process is not automated. If you wish to delete your account please send an (informal) email to accounts@geekya.com from the address that you have registered with. We will delete your account in a maximum of 30 days. Please note that once deleted, we cannot restore your account under any circumstances. Please also note that certain information must be retained for data integrity or legal reasons but they will be anonymized so that they cannot be associated with your person any longer unless required by law.
The site may collect anonymous datapoints to improve our services. For example we may record and analyse audio volumes to create a better default that fits the most people. These datapoints are completely anonymous and are not qualified to identify you.
Any optional data that you provide to us (e.g. when contacting us) is considered confidential and will not be shared with a 3rd party unless you gave us explicit permission to do so. Data will only be stored for as long as they are needed to fulfill your inquiry.
You have the right (if not by law we grant you one) to request a copy of the data that we have stored about you. In order to file a data request send a mail to privacy@geekya.com. Please note that we can only provide you with a copy of data that you can prove to be yours. For example we cannot provide a copy of access logs as anybody could request a copy for any IP address without us being able to verify that it's really you.
