Insider Patch Notes 3.6.1.8

Insider Update 3.6.1.8 is now live. Insiders can begin testing the upcoming Bilge Rat Weekender Event, further improvements to Faction Battles and, on Wednesday, February 18th, can join a timed Technical Test for Last Ship Standing!

If you encounter any bugs while playing in Insiders, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and report an issue with our Player Support team.

Last Ship Standing Technical Test

This Insiders update includes a timed Technical Test for the upcoming Last Ship Standing experience. From Wednesday, February 18th 20:00 UTC to 22:00 UTC, Last Ship Standing will be opened for both Solo and Duo Sloop crews.

Last Ship Standing

  • During the allotted time, Sloop crews can vote on a special Limited Voyage from the Quest Table for their chosen Faction and dive into battle.

  • Crews will be held beneath the sea while their rivals prepare and once six ships are ready to battle, all will surface to try to claim victory. If matchmaking cannot find six rivals, after a short time it will reduce to five and then further to four, to enable battles to commence in a timely fashion.

  • All crews will be eligible for Faction Battle Supply Crates if their stocks are low, ensuring they can be competitive without prior stocking. Floating barrels also can be located around the area, providing extra resources if retrieved.

  • During the fight, the Battle Bounds will shrink in size at set intervals to discourage fleeing, encourage more exciting battles and ensure fights are brought to a climactic end.

  • Sunk ships will be returned to the High Seas, while the Last Ship Standing victor will remain in the area and can then leave through the exit portal.

Bilge Rats Weekender

The upcoming Bilge Rats Weekender Live Event has now been enabled for early Insider testing. While this Event contains a number of activities, these will become available for testing over multiple builds. For an overview of everything arriving in the Bilge Rats Weekender, head to the forums .

Festival of Fishing Returns

  • During this first Bilge Rats Weekender, the Festival of Fishing returns with two limited Voyages in High Seas, Event Goals and Doubloon rewards on offer.

  • While active, The Hunter's Call will offer bonuses including free Emissary Flags, boosted Emissary Grade progression and gold and reputation boosts for fishing.

Recovery of a Secret Shipment Voyage

  • While the Weekender is active, pirates can take on the new Recovery of a Secret Shipment limited Voyage in High Seas. This Voyage tasks crews with tracking down a wrecked Smugglers’ ship, battling waves of Sirens for the Captain’s Key and delivering the recovered Secret Shipment Crate to The Smugglers’ League.

  • Crews returning the Secret Shipment Crate will be awarded a cosmetic reward on their first hand-in, along with Doubloons. Completing the Voyage additional times or relieving a crew of their Secret Shipment Crate will award further Doubloons for use in the Black Market.

Smugglers’ Doubloon Run

  • While the Weekender is active, crews can take on a Smugglers’ Doubloon Run in High Seas, smuggling a valuable Bilge Rat Doubloon Crate along the marked Golden Route between Smugglers’ Hideouts for hefty Doubloon rewards.

  • With Doubloons now much more scarce on the seas, crews should keep a keen eye on the horizon when travelling this perilous route for rival pirates and patrolling Skeleton Ships looking to acquire a Doubloon Crate for themselves.

Faction Battle Improvements

Quick Requeue

  • Crews losing a Faction Battle will now be offered the ability to dive straight back beneath the waves and search for their next opponent.

  • Crews using quick requeue will benefit from the provided Faction Battle Supply Crates and their Emissary Flag auto raising, ensuring they are prepared for their next battle.

Faction Battle Supply Crate Improvements

  • Faction Battle Supply Crates now have a distinctive sound when appearing on the player’s ship, providing clear feedback when supplies have been delivered.

Faction Battle Info & Tips Update

  • The Info & Tips menu now contains additional information explaining how Automatic Emissary Raising and Faction Battle Supply Crates features work, helping crews understand how they’ll be prepared for battle.

Faction Battle Entry Requirements

  • New Faction Battle Entry Requirements have been temporarily disabled to facilitate smoother testing of Faction Battle and Last Ship Standing experiences.

Updates

Ashen Garrisons Performance Improvements

  • Changes have been made to the Ashen Garrisons within The Devil’s Roar to improve game performance and memory usage while battling these formidable new encounters.

Sea of Thieves Insiders Watermark

  • The Sea of Thieves Insiders watermark logo has been repositioned to the centre of the screen, ensuring that footage captured from Insider builds in a variety of aspect ratios will now include the visible watermark.

Known Issues

Last Ship Standing

  • If matchmaking fails, the temporary Voyage remains on the Quest Table and needs to be removed manually before being able to retry.

  • Players are unable to move while waiting to matchmake in the tunnel.

  • Ships can surface unusually high out of the water when the battle starts.

  • The Grapple Gun does not currently function during Last Ship Standing until the player returns from the Ferry.

  • Winning crews may find they are placed back into the Last Ship Standing area after the battle has ended, requiring them to leave the game to resolve.

Bilge Rats Weekender

  • The functionality to convert the payment for owned Doubloon crates and Secret Shipment crates gold after three have already been handed in is not yet available for testing.

  • Diving to the Recovery of a Secret Shipment Voyage is currently not available, and will require sailing to it to begin.

  • During the Recovery of a Secret Shipment Voyage, the Cabin Door Key is using the Merchant Alliance key visuals temporarily.

Ashen Garrisons

  • The first-floor door at the King’s Chalice Garrison can be opened from the outside when it shouldn’t be.

  • Opening the Servant’s Oath roof door can cause the next skeleton wave to surface in the Flameheart portrait room instead of on the roof.
