Insider Patch Notes 2.8.1.2
Insider Update 2.8.1.2 is now live. A new adventure has landed in the Sea of Thieves and still available for insiders to take part in, to get started players should head to any outpost and speak to Larinna about what you can do to help.

Adventures
‘A Dark Deception’
- Players will now receive a notification after completing each chapter of the Adventure, informing them that they have reached a checkpoint and their progress has been saved and can be continued in a future session.
Known Issues
‘A Dark Deception’
- This is an early preview of this new Adventure and therefore will still contain some placeholder text and imagery.
- Progressing through the Adventure, players will find that a few Deeds will not complete when performing the required criteria.
- As a few of the Deeds do not trigger, the Title cannot be obtained by the player for completing all deeds.
- The Pendragon’s Pocket Watch memento isn’t awarded correctly when the player completes the tale for the first time.
- The Checkpoint now triggers at the end of Chapter 2; however, the player is currently unable to start the tale from the checkpoint with Larinna.
- The Lever in the Secret Hideout doesn’t currently close the door on the first interaction but does close the door on the second interaction.
Video Playback
- Videos within the What’s New section currently do not play for players using the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app version of the game.
- Videos within the What’s New section may freeze or display a black screen when watching on Xbox One/ Xbox Series S.
Fixed Issues
*Gameplay *
- Crews who attempt to vote on both the Hourglass of Fate and the Shores of Gold Tall Tale at the same time, will now find only one vote passes and the other is removed.
*‘A Dark Deception’ *
- Memento notification will no longer appear when completing the Adventure if a player has previously completed it and earned the Memento.
- Starting the Adventure from the Pirate Lord at N13 will now complete the 'Meet your mysterious contact' deed.
- During the final cutscene the Pirate Lord and Fake Pirate Lord now show the correct names alongside their subtitles.
- Choosing to Replay the Adventure from both Larinna and the Pirate Lord now correctly Replays the Adventure.
- 'The Deceiver and Deceived' Title is now only rewarded when the correct conditions are met.
- The rat at Sanctuary Outpost no longer appears to float at certain points when moving around.
- Larinna's dialogue options during the adventure no longer contains placeholder text.
- The Tooltip text when interacting with the Burning Blade Figurehead Fragment on the wrong side has now been corrected.
- Pendragon's Pocket watch now appears correctly when equipped.
*Visual & Audio *
- When observing a player climbing ladders or sitting while holding the Skull of Destiny, the skull will retain its correct visual appearance.
- The fog surrounding the Tornado that signals an active Ghost Fleet Encounter has now been toned down to improve visibility of the event from a distance.
*Performance and Stability *
- Improved stability to prevent instances where players are disconnected from their session.
