Insider Patch Notes 2.7.2.3

Insider Update 2.7.2.3 is now live. Harpooning loot on to your ship just got a whole lot easier with this Insider update! With this build, harpooned loot will now instantly detach and be placed upon your ship. We also have a number of gameplay improvements ready for players to try out, so once you have had your fill, please let us know what you think.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Gameplay Improvements

Harpoon Improvements

  • When using a ship’s harpoon, players will now find that treasure will instantly detach from their harpoon and be placed behind them, removing the need to stop and remove it manually.
  • Rowboats equipped with a harpoon will also now place any harpooned treasure in the middle of the rowboat.
  • The Sovereigns’ hut harpoon will now also place treasure onto the lift platform even if the platform is down, making it even easier to cash in at the Sovereigns.

Lockable Armories and Ammo Chests

  • Armories and ammo chests found on player ships will now be locked when starting a session, preventing any other crews from reloading from the supply. Members of the crew are still free to reload as usual.
  • Rival crews sneaking onboard can unlock these chests with some patience – however, the crew defending the ship will likely notice and can even re-lock it!

Sovereign Expansion

  • Captains and their crew will now be able to hand in any loot they would normally give to a Hunter’s Call representatives to the Sovereigns for Gold and Reputation.

Ship and Player Hit Audio Effects

  • Players will now hear a distinctive new sound effect when striking a rivals ship with a cannonball, clearly indicating a successful hit. Cannonball shots hitting a player will also produce a similar effect.
  • Both of these new audio effects are not controlled by the music volume sliders, allowing players to turn down the music volume while retaining clear notifications during ship combat.

Brightness and Contrast Settings

  • Within the video settings menu, players can now use sliders to increase and decrease the brightness and contrast of the game to further customise their Sea of Thieves experience.

Updates

Captain’s Logbook

  • The change to the Captain’s logbook to support a hold interaction to pick up has now been reverted and will be held for a future release. We would like to thank players for their valuable feedback!

Ghost Ship Damage Balancing

  • Damage taken by player ships when engaging in battle with a Ghost ship has been reduced. Ships colliding with a ghostly ship will now result in reduced hull damage.

Known Issues

Skull of Destiny

  • The first Skull of Destiny dug up on a new server does not display the correct visuals before being picked up.

Captains of Adventure

  • The island icons shown in the Events Log when arriving at Islands are not currently shown.

Pirate Loadouts

  • Players’ default pirate cosmetics, emotes and shanties may be missing when starting a session

New Golden Sands

  • Construction of the New Golden Sands outpost is currently still a work in progress and does not reflect the final implementation.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Gunpowder kegs onboard a ship will now be detonated by attacks from Ghost ships, Megalodons and Krakens.
  • Taking resources or fireworks from a crate and then using a mermaid to get back to the ship will no longer refill the crate with items.

  • The prompt to stash quests will now appear when accessing the guest radial using assigned hot keys.

Battle for the Sea of Thieves

  • Players can no longer ram their boat on an island to get teleported out of the battle bounds so that it will not be classed as a defeat.

Captains of Adventure

  • Backing out of the Shipwright Shops no longer closes the shop window instead of returning to the Interstitial screen.
  • The Days at Sea total in the Current Voyage page within the Events Log will no longer start at 0 instead of 1.
  • Sovereigns will now give the value for contents of Collectors Chests when brought to them.
  • All Ashen Voyages no longer incorrectly listed as "Prized" in the title.

  • Defeating Ashen Lord events now updates the Ashen Cloud encounters milestone.

  • Events within the Captain’s Logbook can now be overwritten.

Visual and Audio

  • The seagulls around jettisoned loot will now disperse after all barrels are harpooned or sunk.

Performance and Stability

  • Improved server stability to help avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
