Insider Update 3.6.1.1 is now live. This Insider update introduces improvements to Faction Battles, including Supply Crates for low-stocked crews and a shrinking battle arena, alongside performance improvements to the Legend of the Veil Voyage.
If you encounter any bugs while playing in Insiders, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and report an issue with our Player Support team.
Shrinking Battle Bounds
During a Faction battle, the battle bounds will now shrink in size at set intervals during the encounter to discourage fleeing, encourage more exciting battles and ensure fights are brought to a climactic end.
The starting battle size remains unchanged, allowing crews the space to test their rivals. The area will then shrink twice during the battle, bringing crews together, before settling on an intense final area – where the only option is to fight to become the victor.
Crews will have eight minutes in the starting area, before the bounds begin to shrink. A further eight minutes of battle will then take place before the battle bounds close to the final area. All transitions will take place over two minutes and move gradually, allowing crews to reposition to their advantage.
Crews will be notified onscreen that the battle bounds are changing and can see the new area size on the Map Table and will hear music while the bounds are shrinking.
Faction Battle Supply Crates
When entering a Faction Battle, low-stocked ships will now be granted a Faction Supply Crate to help crews get straight into the fight with sufficient resources to be competitive in the encounter.
Upon diving to battle, the crew’s current supplies spread across any barrels, storage crates, player inventories and loaded cannons will be tallied against a minimum threshold. A Faction Supply Crate will then be provided containing a supply of resources for any item found under the threshold.
For more details on the resource thresholds for each item, head to the feedback thread for more information.
