Insider Patch Notes 3.5.2.2

Insider Update 3.5.2.2 is now live. In this Insider Update, players can explore two new Smugglers’ League Hideouts in The Devil’s Roar and test further improvements to water desync issues. A Gold & Glory Event is also active, offering double rewards across gold, reputation, Allegiance and Renown.

If you encounter any bugs while playing in Insiders, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and report an issue with our Player Support team.

Season 18: Secrets of the Banished

New Smugglers’ Hideouts

  • Two new Smugglers’ League Hideouts can now be found within The Devil’s Roar. Both Hideouts are protected by flame-powered traps, contain journals and are now cash-in locations for Smugglers’ Treasure.

  • Elias now operates from a cave beneath Fetcher’s Rest’s central archway, while Lucia can be found in a tunnel cutting through Ruby’s Fall. Both Hideouts are protected by flame-powered traps, contain journals and have full trading functionality.

Devil’s Roar World Changes

  • Insiders may discover the early signs of Dark Ancient Sanctuaries being uncovered within The Devil’s Roar. These locations will be inaccessible in this build, and will be making their way into Insider testing as part of a future update.

Updates

Gold & Glory

  • Gold & Glory boosts will be active for Insider testing, with a x2 multiplier for gold, reputation, Guild Reputation, Allegiance and Seasonal Renown.

Addressing Extended Loading Times

  • Further loading optimisations have been introduced targeting lower spec hardware. These optimisations should improve the loading times when returning to a ship via mermaid or when returning from the Ferry of the Damned.

Known Issues

Smugglers’ Hideouts

  • A hidden barrel beneath the set dressing at Ruby’s Fall can still be interacted with.

  • Players will not be able to interact with some paddle decorations at Ruby’s Fall.

  • Players can become stuck in the environment and aren’t safely teleported back to their ship.

  • Journals inside the Hideouts currently contain placeholder markers instead of proper entries.

  • Voice lines for Elias and Lucia are not currently playing correctly.

  • Some trap pressure plates at Fetcher’s Rest don’t activate their corresponding traps.

Please note: The traps found in these Hideouts are currently placeholder and do not represent the final design. This includes their placement, visuals, sound effects, timing and overall behaviour. Feedback on these traps is not necessary.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Reaper’s Chests can now once again be found among the loot at the Fort of the Damned.

Environment

  • Hatches in the Royal Crest Fortress can no longer be opened if they’re covered by wooden boards.

  • A ‘Use Hatch’ prompt will no longer appear on a window that doesn’t have a hatch at Imperial Crown Fortress.

Visual and Audio

  • Further improvements have been made to water visual effects to ensure smooth transitions into and out of the water. Insiders are invited to keep an eye out for any water desync while playing this build and report any issues in the General Adventure Feedback Thread.

  • The image for the Widow's Weave Sails now displays clearly in the Seasonal Renown track.

  • The gold ‘New’ artwork now correctly appears on the Smugglers’ Route Run Voyage card once unlocked.

  • Black Powder Barrels once again produce smoke effects after exploding.

  • 'The Ashen Age' - Audio issues affecting certain parts of these Tall Tales on certain consoles have been resolved.

Performance and Stability

  • Improved server stability to avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
