Insider Patch Notes 3.5.2.1

Insider Update 3.5.2.1 is now live. Insiders can now test features from Season 18, including a new type of Trident, the Season 18 Community Weekend and improvements to weapon switching mechanics introduced in this build.

If you encounter any bugs while playing in Insiders, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and report an issue with our Player Support team.

Season 18: Secrets of the Banished

Trident of the Banished

  • The Trident of the Banished Ancients is a corrupted weapon, enhancing the power of the Trident while inflicting poisonous effects.

  • A small bubble can be charged quickly and releases a fast-moving shot to deal both direct damage and lasting poison effects.

  • A medium sized bubble deals greater damage than its Dark Tides counterpart with a larger blast radius, also poisoning enemies in the area.

  • The largest bubble deals incredibly high damage and poison; however, it moves very slowly when fired, allowing players to follow-up with a well-aimed shot to detonate it.

For testing purposes, Tridents can be found on the tavern tables at each Outpost. However, they will not be brought with the ship when diving.

Season 18 Community Weekend

  • Log-In Rewards: The Season 18 Community Weekend Flag and Proud Pudding Emote are granted upon login.

  • Community Spirit Goal: Completing Ashen Message in a Bottle Voyages in The Devil’s Roar contributes to a shared progress goal. Once complete, all participants receive the Meridian Hunter Double Barrel Pistol.

  • Individual Goal - Roar of Fortune: Players have a low chance to find a Chest of Fortune through Ashen Message in a Bottle Quests or Quest Board Maps in The Devil’s Roar. Delivering a Chest of Fortune during the Event unlocks the Devil’s Fortune Seeker Title.

  • Pop-Up Plunder: Daily treasure hunts appear for one hour each day, allowing crews to uncover limited-time buried loot with heightened rewards for Season 18. Check the feedback thread for more information on Pop-Up Plunder time .

  • Picture Walls: The Event also features themed photo areas across the seas. Check the feedback thread for more information on where these can be found.

Gameplay Improvements

Improved Weapon Switching

  • When switching between ranged weapons, the animation and switching times have been reduced, providing a snappier and more responsive combat experience when firing two shots. The time between firing two ranged weapons is now 1 second.

  • Wielding any ranged weapon from stowed is now quicker, allowing players to react more quickly in combat.

  • Previous guards that forced players to observe the full duration of weapon wield animations have now been removed, allowing players the freedom to cancel animations when moving through the world. While players can once again cancel these animations, they will still experience a 1 second time between firing two weapons.

  • Players jumping or falling while raising or switching weapons will now see the correct animations and be able to fire consistently when expected.

Addressing Extended Loading Times

  • Improvements have been made to how clients load back into the world after leaving their ship behind. These improvements should provide a much more consistent experience when returning to a ship via mermaid or when returning from the Ferry of the Damned.

  • This improvement should also reduce the frequency of seeing glowing green skeletons for an extended duration after returning to the ship.

Known Issues

Crouching

  • Players attempting to Aim Down Sights with a weapon while crouched will experience a delayed response before being able to fire their weapon.

  • Using sprint to exit crouch and attempting to Aim Down Sights can cause the player to briefly stutter.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Sea Fort cannons now correctly fire at approaching player ships.

  • The Fort of Fortune and Skeleton Forts can once again be unlocked with the correct key.

Visual and Audio

  • Pirates performing the Good Day, Bad Day Emote should no longer find the emote cancels itself after being selected.

  • After throwing a knife, players should no longer feel the camera bob unnecessarily.

  • Players should now appear to be holding a Gunpowder Barrel correctly when playing at 110 Field of View.

Performance and Stability

  • Improvements to game stability on Xbox Console for players attempting re-join sessions.
