Insider Update 3.5.0.7 is now live. As we enter the hardening phase for September’s release, features seen in this Insider build will align with what will be released to the main game in our next Monthly Update.
If you encounter any bugs while playing in Insiders, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and report an issue with our Player Support team.
Season 17: Act 2
While Insiders have been previewing all of the features arriving across Season 17 in former builds, this build is now focused solely on the features arriving in Act 2. The Smugglers’ Tide features available in this build are therefore:
Improved Field of View
To provide players with control over their Field of View experience, the graphics settings now provide individual Field of View overrides for areas where players dock to an object.
These overrides have been added to various locations on the such as Sails, Cannons, Capstan, Harpoon, Water Barrel and Wheel. In addition, the following areas have also been provided Field of View overrides: Ladders, Parchments, Quest Books, Captain’s Logbooks, Rowboat Oars, and Rowboat Seats.
Weekly Insider Reward Goal
Smugglers’ Heist
The target painting does not reappear on a new server after migration if it has already been picked up.
The painting marker may still be visible on a closed Fortress after migrating with an active Voyage.
When the target painting is placed on a ship, Ocean Crawlers may keep appearing and disappearing continuously.
Field of View
The Field of View overrides currently default to 60 when first loading the game and do not currently persist across sessions once set as intended.
Players using the ship’s Map Table will find this currently uses the player’s chosen Field of View, which provides a poor visual experience. This will change to a fixed FOV in a future update.
Players using a lower Field of View on the cannons will find that zooming the cannon acts incorrectly.
Zooming in with various Tall Tale Books and Parchments can result in an unintended zoom effect. This can be resolved by stowing the item.
Captain’s Logbooks can reset to the default Field of View over time.
Gameplay
After being revived, the player’s health bar should now consistently be displayed when not at full health.
Ancient Skeletons defeated by skeletons allied to the crew now consistently award Ancient Coins to the members of the crew.
Clearing the Fort of the Damned will now once again provide rich rewards within the Vault.
The final cutscene now plays correctly after completing the last Trading Company Tutorial.
Pirate previews now display correctly after deleting a pirate.
Progress towards the 'Skeletal Sorrow' Commendation is no longer incorrectly granted for defeating skeletons at standard Skeleton Forts.
Smugglers’ Heist
Skeleton waves inside Royal Crest Fortress now remain active after migrating servers.
The target painting marker on the Map Table now remains visible when it is carried by a player-allied Order of Bone and Blade Skeleton.
Only one Quest Note for the Royal Crest Fortress Key is now provided.
Crews can no longer opt in to a second Heist by migrating from another server where the Heist is active.
Skeleton waves now trigger consistently after opening the basement doors in Royal Crest Fortress.
Cupboards in Royal Crest Fortress now reset properly when the Fort refreshes.
Progress for the 'Steal and sell a Collector’s Painting that wasn’t the Heist target' Deed is no longer incorrectly granted when handing in the target painting.
The first two Heist Quest Notes no longer display in grey text and are easier to read, and text no longer overlaps with images.
The target painting no longer sinks when left in the sea, causing the Heist to end prematurely.
Ocean Crawlers now only appear on ships when the target painting is placed on board.
There is no longer an invisible wall beside the Flameheart Statue in Royal Crest Fortress.
Ocean Crawlers now appear as expected when the target painting is placed in the crow’s nest.
