Insider Update 3.4.2.5 is now live. In this Insider update, Reaper’s Forts are reimagined with new enemies, traps and loot, while a new Season Menu helps track progress and rewards across the Season’s Acts. New Outpost and Emporium cosmetics are also available for testing.
As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Season Overview
A new Season Menu has been introduced, designed to showcase the new content arriving across the Season and helping players track their progress and earned rewards.
The Overview tab breaks the Season into three Acts, highlighting the content arriving across the three Monthly Updates. Players can view the content, progress and available rewards.
The Deeds & Rewards tab introduces challenges to complete during each Act. Completing these challenges will unlock both time-limited and permanent rewards.
With this new approach to Seasons, the old Trials and Deeds system used previously has now been retired.
Act 3: Reaper Forts
Starting in Act 3 of Season 17, all Skeleton Forts (excluding the Fort of the Damned and Molten Sands) will be upgraded into Reaper’s Forts with upgraded visuals, devilish traps and reinforced defences.
Pirates will now encounter Ghost Ships circling the Fort, and both Phantoms and Order of Bone and Blade Skeletons will reinforce the defending waves during the attack.
These reinforced Reaper’s Forts now have deadly fire traps that can be turned on Flameheart’s minions or used when defending against rival crews.
When a Reaper’s Fort is active a new Skull Cloud now signals crews from across the waves. Once the Season ends, Skeleton Forts will be able to provide both the original encounter and the reinforced Reaper encounter, which can be distinguished by the different types of Skull Cloud.

Reaper’s Forts
While Traps have been added to the Forts, these are still considered placeholder and have therefore not yet been embedded into the environment.
The contents of Weapon Caches and the Fort’s Vault are currently placeholder and are not representative of the final design.
Fire damage can continue even after Fire Traps are deactivated, causing players to catch fire with no visible flames.
Some enemy types may not receive the correct amount of damage from Traps.
Pirate Profiles
Switching from the Pirate tab to the Pirate Log can cause overlapping menus with the Change Pirate button.
Players may be able to sail for a Guild using a Pirate Profile that isn't a Member of that Guild.
Gameplay
Following a recent regression in Insider builds, bailing water out of the ship should no longer show the water visual effects appearing back inside the ship.
Players taking damage soon after healing to full health will no longer find their health bar becomes hidden even though they are not at full health.
When boarding a ladder from the sea, players are no longer able to muffle the boarding audio effects by repeatedly attempting to give an item while grabbing the ladder.
