Insider Patch Notes 3.4.1.4

Insider Update 3.4.1.4 is now live. This build introduces Ashen variants of the Search for Ancient Secrets Voyage, a rebalance of The Devil’s Roar, dynamic status tags for Skeleton Mercenaries, improved health bar responsiveness and the upcoming Pirate Profiles feature.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Reapers Rule

Ashen Search for Ancient Secrets Voyage

  • Flameheart’s Reaper Voyages have now expanded into The Devil’s Roar, introducing an Ashen Search for Ancients Voyage. These can be started from the Quest Table.

  • While the core objectives of the Voyage in The Devil’s Roar remain the same, players will be rewarded with higher-value Ashen Treasure. Additionally, Order of Bone and Blade Skeletons are helpfully immune to damage from geysers.

Devil’s Roar Rebalance

  • The Devil’s Roar has been rebalanced to reduce the frustration while adventuring in this region, while retaining the atmosphere and risk of sailing in this dangerous part of the seas.

  • Geysers that appear on islands should no longer appear directly underneath players and should instead appear nearby, and the amount that surface are now balanced to the size of the crew exploring the island.

  • Volcanos now signal their eruption for a longer time, allowing players more time to react.

  • A live volcano now erupts for a shorter time before subsiding, and while erupting the chance that nearby ships will be hit with volcanic rocks has been reduced.

Mercenary Skeleton Status Tags

  • Skeleton Mercenaries now show a status tag next to their nameplate, visually showing what they are doing when viewed at a distance. Players can now also see clearly when a Skeleton Mercenary has been downed and needs reviving.

Season 17: Smugglers' Tide

Smugglers’ League Characters

  • Placeholder models have been replaced with the actual Smuggler characters and their positions slightly adjusted to be closer to their final locations.

The animations used for these characters are currently placeholder and not representative of final design.

Pirate Profiles

Pirate Profiles

  • Players can now purchase additional Pirate Profiles, unlocking access to multiple pirates from the Pirate tab in the front-end menu. Each pirate will have their own journey with separate progression, rewards and visual customisation.

  • Players can unlock additional profiles by purchasing a New Pirate Deed either from the Pirate Menu or from the Pirate Emporium where single or a bundle of 3 Deeds can be purchased at a discount. Once a Deed has been purchased, players can create and customise a new pirate.

  • Pirate Appearance Potions can now be used on individual pirates using the Pirate Menu.

*Ancient Coins and gold have been awarded to Insiders for testing, for more details on how to test and feedback to the development team on this new feature, please see the * feedback thread

Updates

Responsive Health Bar Improvements

  • The UI health bar has been improved to be more responsive during combat, making the players current health much clearer to see.

  • Players taking damage and healing will now see the health bar move to the new health value much more quickly.

  • The health bar will now always show green when health is regenerating from cooked food, even if the player’s health is critically low and in the red.

  • After healing fully, the health bar now remains visible for a longer period before being hidden.

Known Issues

Pirate Profiles

  • Buying a Pirate Deed Bundle and then a single Pirate Deed straight after may cause one of them not to register properly.

  • Players may see an error the first time they try to use the linked purchases pop-up that appears when buying a Pirate Deed.

  • The Pirate Options in the Pirate tab currently can't be interacted with when using a mouse. Players must use the relevant key to open the menu.

  • After buying a Pirate Deed or Appearance Potion for the first time, players who interact with the pop-up notification that appears after purchase may not be able to buy another through the menu until they re-enter the game or restart.

  • Opening Settings while switching from the Pirate tab to Discover can cause a soft lock under some circumstances.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Pirates chasing pigs and chickens with swords will now find they now consistently take damage.

  • A retracted Cannon of Rage will no longer block cannonball damage when fired upon.

  • Storage Crates found through Skeleton's Orders can now be sold to the Merchant Alliance as intended.

  • Treasure harpooned from the water can now be consistently picked up again.

  • Duplicate entries for some Season 16 Deeds and Goals have been amended.

  • Skeletons near the West Shipwreck on Flintlock Peninsula will now follow players during the Search for Ancient Secrets Voyage.

Followers of the Flame Voyage

  • The Followers Flame now continues to function correctly if a player dies during the Voyage.

  • Loot from the Followers of the Flame Voyage will no longer appear underneath the spot where a skeleton was buried.

  • Skeletons now correctly play their animations when sealing the chest.

  • Voyage skeletons have sorted out their timing when doing the 'I forgot something' emote, and now stow their shovels properly.

  • Skeletons linked to an unsealed Reaper’s Chest now teleport correctly when at Outposts.

Environment

  • Improvements have been made to the geometry at Port Merrick, Dagger Tooth Outpost and Shark Bait Cove to address crews using these locations to hide their ship and shelter from attacks during Faction battles.

  • 'The Lair of LeChuck' - It's no longer possible for players to get out of the map using the Grapple Gun in this Tall Tale.

  • Skeleton Mercenaries now spawn closer to their bone piles, as expected.

  • Players should no longer get stuck in walls above puzzle rooms during Shores of Gold when using the Grapple Gun.

  • Missing jellyfish on Flintlock Peninsula have been added.

  • Players are no longer able to walk through any rocks on Lone Cove.

  • Players can no longer pass through the Royal Crest Fortress ceiling by interacting with the Map Table.

  • Loot will no longer fall beneath the stairs outside the Order of Souls building in Port Merrick.

Visual and Audio

  • Mercenaries now give a 'Thank you' when revived or summoned from bone piles.

  • Ship wheels will no longer spin uncontrollably after being repaired at the Shipwright.

  • Skeletons from the Order of Bone and Blade now animate correctly, even when they’ve just dropped an item.

  • The Order of Bone and Blade Shovel now plays its digging sand effects properly.

  • Several shovels that were missing dig visual effects now show the correct effects.

  • Window frames on Clothing Shops at all Outposts now keep their colour consistent at different distances.

  • The Dashing Duellist Banjo now fits correctly in a pirate's hands.

  • The Regal Fortune Boots no longer make a pirate’s feet appear transparent.

  • Pixelated tiles no longer appear next to the tankard table in Port Merrick on PlayStation®5.

Text and Localisation

  • The sell prompt shown when approaching Captain Flameheart now correctly explains correctly where various skulls can be sold.
