Insider Update 3.3.0.6 is now live. Insiders can finally break the seal on Reaper’s Chests, unleashing a wave of Order of Bone & Blade Skeletons. Players can also discover two new Reaper-themed rowboat liveries, and sample new stock arriving in Outpost stores.
As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Reaper Chest Improvements
Existing Reaper’s Chests can now be interacted with to break the seal, releasing waves of Order of Bone & Blade Skeletons that defend the crew in possession of the chest and attack nearby foes.
When possible, these skeletons will follow the chest when it is carried, allowing it to be used for defense when placed on a ship or for offense by leaving it aboard an enemy vessel.
Skeletons will only emerge when the chest is placed firmly on land or a ship’s deck, while submersion in water or being carried will pause their appearance.
Once all summoned skeletons have been defeated, no further reinforcements will be raised from the chest.
To facilitate Insiders testing, two Reaper's Chests can now be found inside the Outpost Tavern.

Performance Improvements
Improved Reaper’s Chest
Moving the chest between regions may stop skeletons from emerging from it in that region. This can happen if the chest is repeatedly moved between the same two areas.
Placing the chest in a new area does not retain the number of charges used, which may cause more skeletons to spawn than intended.
When placed on a ship’s lower deck, Order of Bone & Blade Skeletons still surface on the top deck.
Skeleton Mercenaries
Skeleton Mercenaries do not currently assist with all X Marks the Spot maps.
Skeleton Mercenaries may sometimes appear to slide while using their wandering animation.
Gameplay
Traps can now be placed on and around the stairway to the Athena’s Fortune Hideout inside Outpost taverns.
Chests dropped into shallow pools will now float properly instead of hovering high above the surface.
The Orb of Secrets can now be sold to The Hunter’s Call for the same price as other Trading Companies.
Ancient Megalodons are now correctly affected by the damage from a Poison Dart.
Defeating an Ancient Megalodon will now be recorded in the Captain’s Logbook.
Hunting Spear
Hunting spears can no longer be resold to the same Outpost they were purchased from, even if thrown and picked up again.
The hunting spear now deals the correct, increased damage to all Megalodon types.
Players can no longer bury the hunting spear.
Placing a hunting spear onboard will no longer provide Emissary Grade Progression.
When throwing a hunting spear with a fully charged throw, the visual trail will now be shown across the full path of the spear.
Third-person character animations will now appear correctly when performing a fully charged throw.
The hunting spear no longer merges through the larger body type when held.
When observing a player aiming a hunting spear, they will now accurately display which direction and height they are intending on throwing the spear.
When picking up a hunting spear, the spear and the player’s arms will no longer momentarily appear to judder from a third-person view.
A player who cancels a throw after aiming a hunting spear will now appear correctly to observers.
Wild Boar Hunt
Boar footprints now match those seen in the boar wallow, with a greater range between prints to increase the challenge for players.
Boar tracks and footprints are now more visible in grassy areas.
The maximum circumference for wallow dig spots has been extended.
Boars will now wander further across the island, making them easier to locate.
Lure Darts now correctly attract enemies when attached to boars.

Loot from a defeated Megalodon will now consistently float to the water’s surface.
Skeleton Mercenaries
Visual and Audio
Switching from crouching to standing while holding a fishing rod will no longer cause the rod to appear in the middle of the screen momentarily.
Pig pets will no longer appear misaligned in the player’s arms when players jump while stroking them.
The red belt on the Dark Adventurer’s Jacket no longer merges through the player’s arm during certain emotes.
The Stately Shirt no longer causes long hairstyles to intersect clothing and no longer duplicates arm tattoos in a distorted form.
Bat sound effects will now properly fade out instead of continuing to play long after the bats have flown away.
The Pig Ghost Outfit’s shop icon is now consistent with other outfit icons.
