Insider Patch Notes 3.3.0.1

Insider Update 3.3.0.1 is now live. New Pirate Milestones introduce four Trinkets, now available for testing. Fishing Maps, hunting spears, wild boars and lizards have all received improvements in this Insider update. Mega Stashes now feature reinforced Fort floors and more frequent Ashen rewards, and new Pirate Legend weapons are available for testing.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Wild Seas

New Pirate Milestones

  • Four new Pirate Milestones have been added with this update, unlocking access to new Trinkets: the Fearsome Flame, Coral Calamity and Tides of Tranquility Trophies along with the Gone Fishin’ Painting.

These items have been granted directly to Insiders to facilitate testing.

Fishing Voyage Improvements

  • Fishing Maps now feature improved island artwork and revised text positioning to better support a range of localised languages.

  • Fishing Maps have been zoomed out to ensure all fishing spots are visible.

Hunting Spear Improvements

  • The hunting spear’s quick throw has been toned down and now travels a much shorter distance compared to a fully charged throw.

  • Hunting spears purchased from The Hunter’s Call are now limited to five per crew.

Wild Boar Improvements

  • Boars will now wander the islands naturally when unthreatened.

  • After a chase, boars will now stop eating when far enough away from players to feel safe.

  • Boars will now attack more frequently and deal more damage when provoked.

  • Boar wallows will now contain more relevant treasure, including a variety of treasure chests, artefacts, hunting trophies, Mermaid Gems, Merchant Crates and more.

  • Grand Boars will now always appear on an island where a boar wallow can be found.

  • Boar hoofprints are now much clearer on islands.

Lizards

  • Lizards have been added to even more islands across the Sea of Thieves.

Live Events

Mega Stashes

  • This update improves Mega Stashes based on feedback from the last playtest. Skeleton Fort floors have been reinforced to prevent players from seeing treasure below through cracks, ensuring the moment of opening the Vault remains exciting.

  • Mega Stashes are now available at Molten Sands Fortress, and when a Chest of Fortune is present, it will appear alongside Mega Stash rewards to ensure players do not overlook it.

For this test, Ashen Mega Stashes will appear more frequently, offering a mound of Ashen Chests of Legends for crews to claim.

Outpost Stock

Athena’s Fortune Weapons

  • The Legendary Heavy Sword and Rapier are now available for Pirate Legends to purchase from the Athena’s Hideout shop.

Updates

Performance Improvements

  • The Sloop, Brigantine and Galleon have been rebuilt behind the scenes, breaking each ship up into smaller parts, allowing them to be loaded in sections by the server. This work will provide server performance improvements when ships are created at the start of a session, in addition to ships arriving on a server after diving or naturally through server migration.

  • Performance improvements have been made to how treasure items floating in water are managed across the server.

  • Performance optimisations have been made to Treasure Chests and locked Treasure Chests on the server.

*With significant changes like these, we ask for Insiders to be extra vigilant around both performance and potential game regressions and to report any issues they experience. *

Pirate Emporium Browsing

  • When browsing bundles within the Pirate Emporium, players can now navigate directly to the ‘Browse All’ menu from a shortcut at the bottom of the screen

Known Issues

Hunter’s Call Commendations

  • Four Hunter’s Call Commendations and their associated Titles have been temporarily removed and will return as the team prepare for April’s update.

Hunting Spear

  • Players may be unable to perform any actions after sitting during a charging attack and then standing.

  • Skeletons are currently unable to remove hunting spears lodged into their ship.

  • Hull damage is not currently applied when a hunting spear is pulled out of a ship

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • During general play, Insiders should now experience more consistent gold and reputation rewards being delivered when handing in treasure to Company representatives. While delays to rewards can still occur in online play for many reasons, an issue causing significant delays and sometimes missing rewards has now been addressed.

  • Insiders should now consistently find themselves able to purchase items from The Hunter’s Call after reaching the required rank.

  • All blowpipes have been reviewed and their aiming improved to ensure shots now align with the tip of the blowpipe when fired.

  • The Dance Off Danger Commendation will now progress when using a Bone Caller to target Obsidian Skeletons.

Fishing Voyages

  • Players choosing to dive to a Fishing Voyage will now consistently find the Treasured Fish at the correct location.

  • A duplicate of a caught fish no longer appears near the player when crouching and standing back up or when unequipping and re-equipping the fishing rod.

  • The radial menu icon for the Fishing Map is now correctly displayed.

Hunting Spear

  • The hunting spear will now float when dropped in water.

  • Controller rumble and haptic feedback now function correctly when aiming the hunting spear.

  • The glint on the hunting spear now correctly appears white instead of green.

  • Hunting spears can now be grappled by a ship’s harpoon.

Wild Boars

  • Leaving an island with treasure still recoverable within boar wallows will no longer cause the island to reset and the placement of wallows to move.

  • Boars no longer slide forward when entering their eating animation after running.

  • Treasure buried in a wallow will now only appear in locations where it can be dug up.

Megalodon Voyage

  • The Quest Radial now displays the correct icon for the Megalodon Note.

  • Players who join a Megalodon Voyage in progress will no longer receive two Shrouded Glasses.

  • Placeholder Megalodon Hunt wake effects have been removed.

  • Lizards now move more smoothly.

  • The Pirate Lord now displays the correct visual effects when banging his staff during tutorial sequences.

  • Fireflies on the Fog-Piercing Frog Lantern no longer flicker after surfacing from a ship dive.

  • The flowers of the Forest’s Blessing Costumes no longer move erratically while in a storm.

  • The bottom jaw of the Obsidian Ashen Winds Skull now appears correctly.

  • The Vanity Chest preview now correctly displays disguise animations instead of weapon previews.

  • The Burning Eyepatch of the Ashen Dragon no longer appears above the disguise while walking around in a chest disguise.

  • The player’s camera should no longer be moved erratically when running into skeletons within The Reaper’s Hideout.

  • The back bottle on the Sawbones Belt no longer floats above the player when a chest disguise is in use.

  • Glint effects shown on nearby treasure now appears consistently when moving in and out of range.

  • The flutes on the Soaring Oracle Costume are now properly sized.

  • The visual effects when mimicking with a Mimic Dart no longer merge into cannons.

  • A small red flame no longer appears near the ship’s mast or fully lowered sails.

Text and Localisation

  • The Rococo Costume Bundle description now appears correctly.

  • Plunder Pass item descriptions no longer overlap due to excessive text length.

Performance and Stability

  • An issue with audio memory usage has been addressed, resolving a number of reported inconsistent audio issues and in some cases game instability.

  • Improvements have been made to server stability to avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
