Insider Patch Notes 3.2.3.1

Insider Update 3.2.3.1 is now live. Insiders can now return to testing upcoming features such as Community Weekend and an Anniversary Celebration Event featuring login rewards, goals, a Cake Hunt and new Picture Walls. Menu navigation now has deadzones for smoother control with customisation options available.

Live Events

Anniversary Celebrations and Community Weekend

With the next Community Weekend and Anniversary celebrations ahead, these features are arriving in Insiders for testing:

  • Log-in Bonuses: The Season 15 Community Weekend Flag and the Spinning Celebrations Emote are available as log-in bonuses during the duration of this test. 

  • Community Spirit Goals and Rewards: Multiple concurrent goals will be running, offering rewards for completion. Additionally, Pop-Up Plunder will be available throughout the event. 

  • Anniversary Cake Hunt: Celebratory cakes have been hidden around the Sea of Thieves for the Event. 

  • Picture Walls: Picture walls will be featured during Community Weekend, including a new Picture Wall at the Reaper's Hideout. 

Please refer to the relevant section of the feedback thread for this event for more details and specific instructions on each new feature.

Wild Seas

Ancient Megalodons Encounter Balancing

  • Balancing improvements have been made to the Ancient Megalodon encounters. 

  • The Barnacled Dread is now tougher, with more damage dealt per bite.

  • The Feared Redmaw’s ferocity is reduced, causing it to attack less frequently while still dealing significant damage from its explosive blast. 

  • The reward pool has been updated to provide appropriate rewards matching the theme of each Ancient Megalodon.

  • Barrels of Plenty can now appear nearby during an encounter, allowing crews to access supplies more easily. 

The current rewards are not yet final, please see the feedback thread for specific questions from the development team.

Hunting Spear

  • Hunting Spears can now be found within Shipwrecks and rewarded from defeating Krakens, Megalodons and Skeleton Ships.

Wild Boar

  • Wild Boars now drop pork, and the Alpha variant drops a Pristine Boar Tusk when defeated. 

  • The Alpha boar has been made visibly larger and now uses a unique model.

  • The variety of Treasure found in Wallows has been updated and the dig spots will be closer to the Wallow location.

Blowpipe Improvements

  • Switching between dart types is now much more responsive and allows for quicker switching before being fired.

Trap Inventory

  • Players can now carry a maximum of two traps.

  • Traps have now been removed from the Cannonball section of the player’s radial menu.

Menu Navigation On Controller

  • Following feedback from Insiders, adjustments have been made to the Menu Navigation Deadzone settings on controller. The default values have been updated to more accurately align with the intended design and players should now feel the reduced sensitivity when navigating the menu reduces unwanted movements.

Performance Improvements

  • Ammo Pouches left behind in the world will now only last for 10 minutes before being removed.

Known Issues

Hunting Spear

  • A white square may appear on player ships where a spear is lodged.  

  • Hunting Spears are thrown immediately with full power when only tapping RT/LMB.

  • Crouching with the Spear will cause it to disappear.

Hunter’s Call  

  • No music plays when starting a Hunter’s Call Voyage.  

Ancient Megalodons

  • A stationary copy of the Ancient Megalodon may be present when approaching the Ancient Megalodon.

Wild Boars

  • Boars may move extremely quickly and erratically when traversing islands.

  • Boars may not react to the player immediately when coming into contact or being attacked.

  • Boar Wallows will be present at every island instead of being randomised.

Megalodon Hunting Voyage

  • Players will temporarily find placeholder white Megalodons between points of interest to assist with navigation.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay  

  • The Sword of Souls and Orb of Secrets can now be sold to the Hunter’s Call.  

  • Traps will no longer appear to float when thrown at a ship’s hull.  

  • Traps loaded with a Bone Caller will now trigger consistently when sprung.

Blowpipe

  • Firing a blowpipe dart and then quickly stowing, sprinting or swapping the blowpipe before impact will now consistently fire the dart as intended.

  • Blowpipe darts embedded into moving ships are now more easily targeted and can be consistently destroyed through player actions.

Wild Boar  

  • Boars now correctly perform a charge attack animation and will not charge attack after they have been defeated.  

  • Improved graphical quality for Boar Wallows when approaching them.  

  • Fruit dropped by Boars can now be picked up consistently.  

Hunter’s Call Fishing Voyage  

  • Diving to Fishing Voyages will now correctly have fishing spots and fish available.

  • Fishing Voyage maps now more consistently display both islands and map markers.  

  • Ancient Fish no longer vanish temporarily when reeling the line as they approach the lure.  

  • Ancient Fish will now respond to floats cast before they fled and returned.  

  • Non-player enemies no longer appear on islands during Fishing Voyages.  

Megalodon Hunting Voyage

  • Ships now orient correctly toward the starting beacon during Megalodon Voyages.  

Wild Seas

  • The items in the Hunter's Call shop are now in order of the rank they unlock at, with the exception of the Emissary Flag which is first in the list to match all other Companies.

  • The Hunter’s Call Level 100 Costume now displays the correct preview.  

  • Players will now see a pop-up notification informing them that Hunter’s Call Voyages remain locked until completing a Company Tutorial.  

  • Corrected the Emissary icon displayed when selling items as a Hunter’s Call Emissary.  

  • The Hunter’s Call sitting spot on Port Merrick is now correctly aligned.  

  • Hunting Spears are now destroyed upon successfully hitting a target.  

  • Players will no longer be able to walk through the table at the Port Merrick Hunter’s Call area.  

  • The Company promotion rewards are now displayed in the correct order in the shop.  

Hunting Spear   

  • Players will no longer experience camera stuttering while moving with a Hunting Spear.

Ancient Megalodon  

  • Improved graphical quality for Ancient Megalodons at longer distances.  

  • Dying to Ashen or Coral Megalodons now awards the correct flame colour on the Ferry of the Damned.  

  • Music stings for successfully hitting Ashen and Coral Megalodons will now play as intended. 

  • Encounter music for Megalodons now triggers appropriately based on player proximity.  

User Interface

  • Players using the Custom Text Overlay in the bottom-left corner will no longer find it overlaps the player’s health bar when used. 

Visual and Audio  

  • Shadows of fruit now display correctly when held in a player’s hand.  

  • The Kate Capsize hairstyle no longer clips into jackets on large character models.  

Performance and Stability

  • Improved server stability to avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
