Insider Patch Notes 3.2.2.1

Insider Update 3.2.2.1 is now live and we return to previewing features for future releases! This Insider build introduces Hunter's Call Raid Voyages, a new Ancient Megalodon event, alongside updates such as enhanced Riddle Map accessibility and improved Grapple Gun mechanics to refine gameplay.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Wild Seas

Hunter’s Call Raid Voyages

  • The Quest Table now offers Hunter's Call Raid Voyages, allowing players to experience any of the eight existing Raids on-demand on behalf of the Hunter’s Call. Completing these will reward players with brand-new treasure for the Hunter's Call.

Ancient Megalodon Encounter: The Barnacled Dread

  • The menacing Barnacled Dread has now been sighted on the seas and can now be encountered at Ancient Megalodon sites as an alternative to the feared Redmaw.

  • Once reaching Emissary Grade 2 for the Hunter’s Call, crews should keep an eye on the Ship’s Map for a blue shark symbol that indicates a recent sighting of this fearsome beast.

  • The Barnacled Dread has an almost impenetrable hide that will need to be destroyed to reveal weakened points where significant damage can be dealt. While attacking this fearsome foe, crews should be prepared to defend their ship from the Dread’s shocking bite and from Eel-ectric enemies boarding the ship!

  • Crews unable to defeat this monstrous foe may find themselves unable to flee from the encounter, as the Barnacled Dread will continue to pursue them should they try to run.

Hunter’s Call Voyage Balancing

  • Fishing Voyages now guarantee a more balanced catch, providing one Voyager fish, two medium-value fish, and two low-value fish as part of their rewards.

  • The Megalodon Hunting Voyage has been improved with more dressing at key locations along the Voyage to better signpost crews on their journey. The Shrouded Glass used during the Voyage is now also used more consistently to plot the crew’s next location.

Gameplay Improvements

Grapple Gun Improvements

  • Players missing their shot with the Grapple Gun will now find the arrowhead returns during the recoil. Players will still need to reload the arrowhead, but will no longer consume ammo on missed shots.

Accessibility

Custom Text Overlay

  • A new accessibility feature has been introduced to improve the readability of Riddle Maps.  Within the Language settings of the game menu, players can enable a Custom Text Overlay and further customise the appearance, adjusting screen position, font size, background and text colours.

  • After players have saved their preferences, the overlay will be applied when viewing any Riddle Map, with a scrollbar available for longer text.

Known Issues

Ancient Megalodon Encounter: The Barnacled Dread

  • The visuals and audio for the Barnacled Dread are still work in progress and should be considered an early preview. The team is not looking for feedback on the visual elements of this encounter at the present time.

  • The rewards provided from this encounter are not representative of the proposed live release.

Megalodon Hunting Voyages

  • Megalodons may repeatedly appear and disappear at interval sites, blocking Voyage progression.

  • The Megalodon Voyage beacon is not currently visible from long distances.

Ancient Megalodon Encounters

  • The Ancient Megalodon will persistently target the first ship it locks onto.

  • The Barnacled Dread will continue to summon Eel-ectrics onto ships even after being defeated.

  • Eel-ectrics will currently board ships too frequently during encounters with the Barnacled Dread.

Fishing Voyages

  • Players cannot currently control the fishing rod when using a mouse during the Voyage.

  • Voyager and Ancient fish will disappear if the player dies while holding them.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Switching weapons just before entering a hanging point no longer causes players to lose access to their weapons.

  • Reload animations no longer play when swapping weapons while entering a hanging point.

Mimic Dart

  • Enemies now react correctly to players who are mimicking them after being attacked with a poison dart.

  • Players will now exit a disguise when the mimic effect ends.

Wild Seas

  • During the Megalodon Hunting Voyage, the Megalodon should now consistently surface at the intended key locations along the journey.

  • Chests can now be sold to Hunter’s Call representatives as intended.

  • Megalodon teeth now sit correctly in the player’s hand when held.

Environment

  • 'The Fate of the Morningstar' - Dinger’s key now appears near its original position on the island instead of in the open sea.

Visual and Audio

  • The Trophy Ancientscale Fish no longer has an unnecessary texture on the tip of its whiskers.

  • The hat of the Shadow Skeleton captain now stays properly sized and shaped when in shadow form.

  • The rats below deck on player-owned Burning Blade ships no longer appears to run in mid-air.

  • Pirates’ hands will no longer appear to merge into the Killer Whale Pistol while holding it.

Performance and Stability

  • Memory saving improvements through optimisations to how the Shroudbreaker is used on ships as part of Tall Tales.
