Insider Update 3.2.1.3 is now live.  In this update, players can gets hands on with the new Hunter’s Call Emissary as well as a new Voyage to hunt Megalodons.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Wild Seas

Hunter’s Call Emissary

  • As part of the expansion of the Hunter’s Call, crews can now pledge as an Emissary for this trading company to earn greater rewards and unlock a special benefit..

  • On reaching rank x, players can now purchase an Emissary License from a Hunter’s Company representative at the local Seapost.

  • Once the Emissary is raised at the Hunter’s Emissary Table located at either the Outpost docks or Seapost, crews can then set sail as a Hunter’s Call representative.

  • Upon reaching Hunter’s Call Emissary Grade V, crews will be rewarded with the recent sightings of Ancient Megalodons on their Ship’s map table.

Megalodon Hunting Voyage

  • Crews can now start a Voyage for the Hunter’s Call from their Quest Table. A Megalodon Hunting Voyage tasks pirates with tracking an enraged Megalodon that has been destroying Hunter’s Call vessels.

  • Players will be provided a new enchanted tool when starting the Voyage - the Shrouded Spyglass. This spyglass allows the crew to follow the trail of the rampaging Megalodon.

Hunter’s Call Treasure

  • Upon completing a Megalodon Hunt, a wealth of Hunter’s Call items will now appear, with new items such as Megalodon Teeth and Scales to be returned to the Hunter’s Call.

Ancient Megalodon Encounter

  • Ancient Megalodons have emerged upon the seas, more fearsome than the usual beasts. The Feared Redmaw has recently been spotted boiling the waters near the Reaper’s Hideout with its fiery attacks.

  • Keep an eye on the ship’s map for a red shark symbol that indicates a recent sighting of this fearsome beast.

  • The Feared Redmaw will begin to supercharge during the battle and crews must continually release its pressure by damaging it, to avoid a cataclysmic explosion.

To aid in Insider testing, all players will see the locations of Ancient Megalodons on their Ship’s map, this however will only be available to Hunter’s Call Emissaries who reach Grade V.

Pirates of Mischief

Mimic Dart

  • The Mimic Dart has now been added as a new dart type for the blowpipe. This dart will allow players to transform their appearance into other players or skeletons by shooting them, allowing pirates to blend in and cause some mischief!

  • When a target has been hit by a Mimic Dart, a brief transformation effect will appear around the player as they change appearance. Players will remain in their mimic disguise for 120 seconds and will see a screen effect showing their appearance has been changed.

  • Players under the effects of a Mimic Dart are free to interact with the world in addition to dealing and taking damage. Players engaging in combat however will find the colour of their gamertag will switch as a result.

  • When observing a player who is mimicking, their gamertag will change colour to match the affiliation of their target. There will be no change to the mimicking player’s name shown in their gamertag however, they will always keep their true name.

The Mimic Dart is in an early state of testing and players should check the Release Notes for Known Issues on this feature before submitting bug reports.

Grapple Gun Balancing

  • The maximum range of the Grapple Gun has been increased to match the existing ship’s harpoon, providing players more range for traversal and various sneaky plays.

  • The speed of a fired arrowhead is now much quicker, reducing the need for players to lead their shots and reduce the time after a failed shot before being able to fire again.

  • When grappling to a solid surface, the player's acceleration has been increased, with players now moving faster the further they travel.
