Insider Patch Notes 3.1.2.3

Insider Update 3.1.2.3 is now live. In this update, Insiders can once again embark on a Raid on a Fortified Sea Fort! Players will also have the opportunity to test features for an upcoming Legends Week event. Undertake legendary daily challenges via the Events Tab and Pirate Log, find Legendary Message in a Bottle Voyages and earn loot and rewards.

Live Events

Legends Week

• Legendary Daily Challenges will offer gold, Renown and Athena’s Fortune reputation upon completion. Details about these challenges and progress can be tracked in the Events Tab of the Pirate Log.

• Legendary Message in a Bottle Voyages will also appear, alongside regular bottles. Completing one Legendary Message in a Bottle will unlock the NPC Hideout Tattoo cosmetic reward.

• During designated times, players will earn double gold and reputation for the Athena’s Fortune Company. Check the Feedback Thread for information on when this test will be active.

Fortified Sea Forts

• The phantoms inhabiting Sea Forts have plundered a gigantic fortune and are protecting it with their lives! The phantoms have locked away their treasure in a cell at the very back of the Sea Fort's Treasury room. Players should complete all encounters to unlock the best rewards!

• Additionally, there are two keys hidden around the Sea Fort instead of one, with the second key unlocking the cell downstairs to access bonus rewards. The Storeroom and Treasury also contain an increased amount of treasure.

Pirates of Mischief

Grapple Gun Balancing

• After landing on the ground from a grapple, the existing reduced movement has been tuned further and the period of vulnerability before a player can move at full speed has been increased.

Lure Dart

• Lure darts are now much easier for players to destroy.

Crouching & Stealth

• Players crouching and attempting to don a disguise will now be guided with a short tutorial for the first time.

Season 14

Chest of Fortune

• For the duration of Season 14, the Chest of Fortune has been locked away in the Vault of the Fort of the Damned and can only be obtained by triumphing over this formidable encounter.

• Crews who retrieve Chests of Fortune can now earn the next grade of the Fortune’s Favour Commendation, unlocking access to the Royal Fortune Figurehead, Hull and Sails.

Reaper’s Chests

• Crews chasing down the telltale beacon of the Reaper’s Chest or Reaper’s Bounty can earn the next grade of the Reaper’s Riches Commendation, and start unlocking access to the Royal Fortune Flintlock, Cutlass and Double Barrel Pistol.

Updates

Text Chat Filtering

• Text Chat now utilises an improved profanity filtering system that can be updated outside of Sea of Thieves updates.

Pirate Emporium Browsing

• There is now a ‘Browse All’ button at the bottom of the screen when landing inside the Pirate Emporium, allowing players to navigate directly to the ‘Browse All’ menu. This new shortcut is in addition to the Tab found in the top menu.

• When browsing through Costumes, players will now find that some now show an improved 3D representation of the pirate. Costumes that are sold as part of a Bundle will not use this new view.

Known Issues

Crouch

• If a player is crouched and interacts with anything like a cannon or ladder, they won't be able to cancel the interaction immediately and will need to press the interaction button multiple times.

Blowpipe

• The blowpipe model currently appears lower on the screen when aiming down sights as a female pirate.

Traps

• Throwing traps into taverns prevents the player from using the shortcut key to get another throwable.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

• Equipping a weapon from the Armory no longer closes the menu on selection.

• Browsing Guilds from the Front-End Menu now shows the correct Guild level.

Throwing Knives

• Knives thrown at a crewmate will now pass through them and not become stuck to the player.

• Throwing knives will no longer become stuck in a capstan or other ship interaction points when thrown.

Crouch

• Tutorial prompts now appear for crouching.

Traps

• The restricted area for traps around Outpost taverns has been increased.

• Traps no longer disappear when thrown against a wall.

Blowpipe

• Weapon Emotes now work with the blowpipe, and new icons have been added for blowpipe variants.

• A hollow sound plays when players attempt to use the blowpipe without ammo.

• A typo on the blowpipe tutorial popup has been corrected.

Grapple Gun

• Treasure can no longer be grappled through Skeleton Fort doors before the event is completed.

Disguises

• Players can now move through disguised chests and the camera no longer focuses on the player when zooming in.

• Players can now walk through disguised players on opposing crews.

Merfruit

• The icon for burned Merfruit now better matches its in-game appearance.

• Merfruit now shows its final rarity when cooked, displaying as 'Enchanted Merfruit' when enchanted.

• The Mermaid suppression timer no longer gets stuck after eating cooked Merfruit.

Hanging Spots

• Hanging points have been added to Sloop and Galleon Skeleton Ships.

• Player hands no longer appear to merge into hanging points when using them.

Visual and Audio

• Pirates’ arms no longer bend awkwardly when performing the Black Powder Story Emote.

• The preview image for the Beachcomber's Bounty Capstan now appears at the correct quality.

Pirate Emporium

• Several items from Essential Ship Bundles can now be purchased separately.

Text and Localisation

• The text for musical instruments in the 'Browse All' tab no longer overlaps with icons in Russian.

• The text for 'Collector's Pets' in the Pets category is now properly aligned with the icon in Russian.

• The Ghost Curse Point of Fortune Emote is now correctly translated in Italian when viewed in the Emote Radial.

Performance and Stability

• Improved server stability to avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
