Insider Update 3.1.0.5 is now live. This build redefines the identity for the trusty Blunderbuss, building on previous rounds of Insider testing – head to the Fort of the Damned to test with fellow Insiders!
As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
On the road to Season 14 the team will be assessing balancing opportunities across the Armoury in order to ensure a balanced set of tools ahead of the arrival of the grapple gun. This update focuses on the Blunderbuss and reflects the Insider feedback provided during previous testing.
Blunderbuss
The Blunderbuss knockback effects have now been improved, with close range shots now consistently propelling players forcefully backwards and applying more vertical height to repel boarders over ledges and obstacles.
Players propelled backwards by the blast of a Blunderbuss no longer have movement control while in the air, ensuring they are forced in the direction of the blast.
The spread pattern of the Blunderbuss has now been widened in both Hip Fire and Aim Down Sights, maximising the knockback potential while reducing power at mid and long range due to the wider spread pattern.
The damage dealt by each pellet fired from Blunderbuss has been slightly reduced, reducing the total damage output of the weapon to 90 damage. As a result, the Blunderbuss will no longer be able to perform a 1-hit kill on a full health player.
New visual effects have been added to the blunderbuss to visually show the effective knockback range with white hot debris, smoke and distortion effects identifying the range of the new knockback strength.
Insiders are encouraged to go to the Fort of the Damned at L-14 and meet with other players wishing to test out the Blunderbuss.
Sprinting with One-Handed Items
Players are now able to sprint while carrying one-handed treasure items. When sprinting, the item will now be stowed on a player’s belt, fully visible to other players.
The majority of weapons that can be collected around the world can now also be stowed while sprinting, with the Skull of Siren Song being the exception.
The Burning Blade
When the Burning Blade sinks by sailing into the Devil's Shroud, the Blade of Souls that floats up to the surface from it cannot be interacted with.
Players are currently able to merge through the hull of the Burning Blade on the bottom deck at the hammock when attacked by skeletons.
The Blade of Souls will begin to sink faster than other loot items after the Burning Blade has been defeated.
PlayStation®5

The floating Wild Rose journal at Lagoon of Whispers has been placed correctly so it appears to sit on the surface below.
