Insider Update 3.1.0.3 is now live. In this Insider build, players will be able to crouch! This long-awaited feature will enable players to approach enemies more stealthily, hiding their nameplates.
As always, if you encounter any bugs, please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Crouching and Stealth
Pirates will now be able to switch their stance from standing to a low crouch using R3/Right Stick Click on Controller or Left Ctrl on Keyboard. Using an item, interaction point, jumping or sprinting will stand the player up.
Crouching will reduce a player’s height by half while still permitting movement, allowing them to hide behind lower objects, move discreetly and enhance their stealth by concealing their nameplates.
Crouching will also enable players to duck shots in combat and sneak up on enemies before being detected. However, Skeleton, Ashen and Phantom Captains, as well as Skeleton and Ashen Lords, will have heightened perception, making it easier for them to detect crouched players.
While crouched, pirates will have access to a stealth-focused radial menu on LB/L1 or Q, providing access to tools like disguises, hanging points and other stealthy features.
In this Insiders build, the Stealth Radial will be empty. Expect new features to come into test in future Insiders updates.
The Burning Blade
When a ship enters and then leaves a player-owned Burning Blade battle zone, the music continues playing for the Burning Blade crew.
If the Burning Blade migrates across servers while the Ashen Roar is still heating up, the Ashen Roar will become stuck and can no longer be used.
Game Stability
Attempting to open the Ancient Coins menu while playing on PlayStation®5 will cause the game to close unexpectedly.
Players using Game Transcription Override may find that making too many interactions with the menu can cause Xbox One consoles to freeze, making it necessary to restart the console.
Gameplay
Players will now see the Skull of Siren Song note on their mast when the event becomes active, allowing the Voyage to begin.
Crews cannot form Alliances with the Burning Blade crew if the Alliance flag was raised before taking over the ship.
Loot from the Burning Blade's treasure hold will now be released and rise to the surface when it sinks, even if it hasn't been picked up yet.
Skeleton Camps
Multiple crew members attempting to complete a single Skeleton Camp Ritual at the same time will no longer award additional Rituals.
Players interfering with their network connection while completing Skeleton Camp Rituals will no longer gain additional Rituals.
Temple puzzles will no longer become unplayable if they reset while the player is inside, as the spinners all now work correctly.
Pirates are now prevented from getting onto the rim of the star chart at Skeleton Camps.
Players will not be able to see behind or through fireplaces in Skeleton Camps when jumping around close to them.
Objects will no longer appear to merge into the well at Skeleton Camps.
Improved visibility in the Crypt Vault at Picaroon Palms to make gameplay elements of the Ritual Table easier to see.
Environment
Players will no longer find themselves teleported into the air when walking up the left stairs along the right wall at Blind Man's Lagoon.
The Barbary and Capuchin Monkeys' feet will now align properly on the bar at Taverns when perched.
Barrels at Blind Man's Lagoon will now be solid and will not allow players to walk through them.
Pirates’ thumbs will no longer appear to merge with the red card when performing the Red Card Emote.
Visual and Audio
The banner for pledging to take control of the Burning Blade now correctly displays the name of the crew that accomplished it.
The correct icon will now show on the map table when players are holding the Blade of Souls.
Crews within range will no longer receive the 'Ship Defeated' pop-up notification if a player-owned Burning Blade leaves.
Leaves on trees have been restored to their usual green colour.
