Season 13
Burning Blade of Souls
- The Burning Blade of Souls is a flaming sword corrupted by Captain Flameheart, which can be wielded as a new melee weapon to burn enemies in combat or sold for a handsome profit.
- While the Burning Blade of Souls is more powerful than standard weapons, it will be shown on other crews’ ship maps with a Reaper’s Mark, so be prepared to use it!
To facilitate testing in Insiders, the Burning Blade of Souls can conveniently be found at Outpost taverns.
Obsidian Ashen Winds Skull
- The Obsidian Ashen Winds Skull is a new anti-boarding weapon that can be found aboard the Burning Blade and sold as treasure to Trading Companies.
- This item acts as a flamethrower, igniting players and ships while also inflicting a knockback on boarders attempting to infiltrate the Burning Blade.
Updates
Player Reporting Improvements
- A QR code has now been added to the Report a Player menu to provide easier access for console players wishing to submit a report via a mobile device.
Known Issues
Obsidian Ashen Winds Skull
- The Obsidian Ashen Winds Skull is currently using placeholder artwork and sale price – these are not representative of the final product.
Burning Blade of Souls
- Attempting to sell the sword to the Mysterious Stranger without Pirate Legend status sometimes allows the player to sell the item, and sometimes directs them to another Trading Company.
- Players are currently unable to sell the Burning Blade of Souls to a Reaper’s Bones Emissary at an Outpost and are advised to take it to the Gold Hoarders instead.
- The Burning Blade of Souls does not currently show its sale value on the pop-up notification when players get close to a Trading Company representative.
The Burning Blade
- The Burning Blade ship can become stuck on islands while being sailed around the map, causing it to disappear and end the World Event early.
- When reappearing on the Burning Blade after being sent to the Ferry of the Damned, players will occasionally reappear in the water outside the ship or inside the ship’s scenery.
Fixed Issues
Gameplay
- Food items will no longer appear in Cannonball Barrels at Skeleton Forts.
- ‘The Legend of Monkey Island’ – A Vanity Chest has been added to the circus stage, enabling players to remove the Skeleton Curse if they have one equipped in order to put on the circus costume.
Double Barrel Pistol
- Players holding aim and fire while reloading will now consistently see the weapon switch into an aimed state.
- Players holding aim and fire then releasing while reloading should no longer see the weapon briefly switch into an aimed state before returning to idle.
- Players are no longer able to skip the animation for pulling back the second hammer when firing.
The Burning Blade
- The Ashen Roar is now able to set fire to all ship types that fall into its trajectory.
- Players who join or rejoin a session in progress after the Burning Blade has been defeated are now able to vote to take over the Burning Blade.
- Friendly skeleton crews aboard the Burning Blade no longer react to friendly fire hits from players.
Skeleton Camps
- Controller rumble effects will now occur when players open the crypt door at Skeleton Camps.
Visual and Audio
- The hand animation for players holding the Skull of Siren Song has been updated to look more natural.
- Players will now see an infinity symbol on replayable Voyages in the Quest Table menu.
Text and Localisation
- Several instances of text overlapping or running off the page on Tall Tale Quest Books have been fixed in the Japanese language version.
- Text on ‘Last Seen Haunting’ Quest Maps has been updated so it no longer runs off the screen.
Performance and Stability
- Improved server stability to avoid instances where players are disconnected from their session.
- Players on PlayStation®5 who have chosen to disable cross-play and prefer controller players should now be able to invite friends to their session who have chosen the same matchmaking preferences.
