Insider Patch Notes 2.8.6.6

Insider Update 2.8.6.6 is now live. Set sail for a Guild and invite other pirates to join your adventures, or take on other crews in the race to find The Skull of Siren Song! And if none of that takes your fancy, head to the Pirate Emporium or one of our many Outpost stores to sample our latest lines of clothing, weaponry and ship cosmetics.

Sea of Thieves On-Demand

*Emissary Quest Improvements *

  • Crews reaching Emissary Grade 5 and unlocking access to the valuable Emissary Quest will now have to remain an active Emissary in order to progress the Quest, ensuring the high rewards on offer also come with the risk of sailing as an Emissary.
  • Crews who lose their ship will find the Quest is cancelled, and attempts to lower their Emissary Flag will warn the crew that lowering will cancel the active Quest.
  • In a future Insiders update, crews will find that the added risk of this Emissary Quest comes with greater reward, with boosted rewards for completing this Quest as a Grade 5 Emissary.

Updates

Refreshed Loading Screens

  • The Sea of Thieves Loading Screens have had a refresh and alongside the style changes, players will find they no longer cycle through a set of images during loading. On subsequent loads, however players will be presented a small range of different images.

Known Issues

Season Ten

  • Season titles are being awarded at the incorrect Renown levels.

Guilds of Gold

  • The Gold Earned on a Ship's Chronicle shows as 0 in the Guild Chronicle when Guild Members take out a ship they don't own.
  • There is Placeholder Text in Guild Permissions section of the Guild Management settings menu.
  • The Guild level number uses the incorrect font in the banner design shown in some menu screens.
  • If a Guild Mate unlocks a Captaincy reward without the Captain in the session, the Captain is unable to claim that reward. 

  • The prompt to ‘Vote to Lower Guild Emissary Flag’ is currently missing text.

The Skull of Siren Song

  • The pop-up notification for the reward incorrectly states 'Sails of Siren Song' instead of 'Flag of Siren Song' when completing Grade 1 of the Seeker of Siren Song Commendation.
  • Items collected during the Skull of Siren Song may not relocate from players at designated locations after migrating during a Voyage.
  • Images are missing on the pop-up notifications received after completing various Commendations.

Fixed Issues

Guilds of Gold

  • The Join Guild interaction should always appear after the player accepts the invitation to join a Guild if the player is not already part of that Guild.
  • Players will now receive Captaincy ship rewards after achieving the relevant Class Level in Milestones.
  • Rowboat Revelry Commendation set now uses the correct artwork.
  • The Guild Name in the Logbook now scrambles properly depending on the player’s settings.
  • When a non-Guild Member in a Guild crew approaches the Emissary table, the text prompt reads ‘Requires Guild Reputation 15’ as intended.

The Skull of Siren Song

  • Players are unable to join subsequent Voyages after opting out of the first Voyage.
  • Skull, Key and Chest beacons now update properly.
  • Items placed in the Chest of Siren Song no longer seem to disappear into the bottom of the chest.

‘The Lair of LeChuck’

  • Players are no longer able to open doors they’re not supposed to around Mêlée Island.
  • The Monocle will no longer intersect with the fingers of larger pirates.
  • There will no longer be visual distortion when looking towards the Dark Crystal on arrival to the island.

  • The book that Guybrush picks up can no longer be seen intersecting with and rotating through the floor.

  • The skull prop will no longer disappear when Guybrush finishes speaking.

  • The book that Guybrush picks up will no longer reappear after being dropped into the Lava.

  • Spyglass stand interaction prompt is now correctly positioned.

  • When handing back the Head of the Navigator, Guybrush's subtitles are no longer incorrect.

  • The subtitles for the wooden bridge memoir now appear as intended.

  • When player leaves the area of the Sea Monkey shipwreck and returns back, the wooden board mechanism will remain in the proper state.

  • Herman will no longer repeat his greeting dialogue during the stealing sequence if players move in and out the edge of the camp.

  • Herman’s dialogue lines when caught in the trap do not have VO and can fire concurrently with other VO.

  • Guybrush’s necklace now appears consistently throughout the Tall Tale.

  • The Cotton Swab Key now behaves correctly when the giant hand begins moving.

  • During the beginning cutscene, the Pirate Lord's portal animation is now properly in sync with the portal itself.

  • Captain Coco can now be interacted with after the stockade idol has been placed.

  • There will no longer be visual distortion on the Ghost Ship.

  • Herman will now be in the correct starting position when players start the Tall Tale from a checkpoint.

  • If the Mad Monkey ship sinks during the fight, the Root Beer Cannonballs will no longer revert to regular ones.

  • Various fixes for the Japanese translation of the Tall Tale.

  • Characters will no longer float for a few moments after the Headless Monkey sinks.

  • The player is now able to push the cannon after greasing it with the banana grease.

  • There is no longer large floating text present near the ship chase start location.

  • The ‘Place/Push Rock’ text prompts for the Primitive Art will now still be useable after the player has placed the golden monkey idol on the hand.

  • Music plays as intended when the player discovers the Cotton Swab Key.

  • After the altar and pews have been moved in the church, Players will no longer find invisible barriers where these items used to be.

  • Players will no longer find an invisible barrier where the anchor was hung in the Tavern.

  • The church bell no longer constantly rings if the player joins during the church cutscene.

  • The ribbons and icons on the voyage cards for the Tall Tale and checkpoints now use the correct imagery.

  • The gunpowder gummy is no longer present on the cage after use.

  • Root Beer crate lid now functions properly after it's opened.

  • The Suntan oil glint will now display properly.

  • Captain Kate’s dialogue will now play properly at all stages.

  • There are no longer sitting spots where there shouldn’t be around the Mad Monkey ship.

  • Players can no longer climb into the cannons at the front of the Ghost Ship while other characters are still using them.

  • The pop-up notification for finding the stockade key now appears properly for all players.

  • Players can now use the three-hit sword combo when fighting LeChuck in the church.

  • Herman's note, cereal boxes and spyglasses are all present as intended when the Tale is started from a checkpoint.

  • Captain Capsize’s dialogue on the dock at the start of the fourth checkpoint now uses the correct "Continue" and "Back" text.

  • When starting the Tale at the third checkpoint, Guybrush will only begin talking when the players approach.

  • LeChuck and his crew can no longer be seen floating after their ship teleports during the ship battle.

  • The harpoon now faces Guybrush when Elaine uses it during the Ship Chase intro sequence.

  • Guybrush and Elaine now fire Root Beer Cannonballs instead of Regular Cannonballs.

  • When looking at Goldtooth through the respective spyglass, the player will no longer be blinded by the glint.

  • Bananas have been moved around the banana tree and should no longer be intersecting with the floor. 

'The Quest for Guybrush’

  • Pickpocketing Guybrush should now have an animation and show an Updated Quill Icon.

Gameplay

  • All tutorial hints for different skeleton forms trigger as intended when encountered on a world event or Voyage.

Pirate Emporium

  • The Silver Sepulchre Weapons now display with the correct levels of detail.
  • The Paradise Garden Blunderbuss now appears with the correct level of detail and behaves as intended when being fired.
  • The Friend or Fright emote now displays the intended number of bats.
  • The Silver Sepulchre Lantern now gives off light as intended.
  • The Crimson Crypt Ship’s Crest now displays the ship name after being equipped.
  • Graveyard Grim pets now show soot marks after being fired out of cannons and have all the intended body parts attached.
  • Lightning effects are no longer missing from the Stormfish Chaser Hook and Stormfish Chaser Collector's Figurehead.
  • The tear in the Stormfish Chaser Collector's Sails no longer cuts off part of the design.

Visual and Audio

  • The Evildoer Dance emote now displays the correct animation when performed.
  • The Touch Grass emote now displays as intended and will no longer rain down an endless shower of pebbles after being performed.
  • Only one ‘Event Completed’ banner will appear upon completion of the Skeleton Fleet world event.
  • The Athena’s Fortune Emissary shovel no longer intersects through the player's hand.

Accessibility

  • The ‘Select a Ship Type’ screen now has narration provided for all essential elements.

Text and Localisation

  • Placeholder text is no longer present when attempting to store items in a held collector's chest.
