Insider Patch Notes 2.8.4.9

Insider Update 2.8.4.9 is now live. Within this Insiders build we have a variety of activities for insiders to get stuck into. Starting with our all-new Skeleton Forts on demand! No more sailing hunting around for a world event when you can simply dive beneath the waves and surface at an active event straight away. Along with this we also have the opportunity for insiders to go on the hunt for some Pop-up Plunder head to the forum for more details on how to snag the treasure.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Sea of Thieves On-Demand

*Skeleton Forts on Demand  *

  • World Events now join the fray of ‘on-demand’ experiences that will be offered from the enhanced Quest Table starting with Skeleton Forts. Players can now choose to ‘Dive’ or ‘Sail’ to a skeleton fort from the Quest Table.
  • When choosing to dive to the experience, much like with on-demand Voyages or Tall Tales, players will dive beneath the waves and resurface at an active Skeleton Fort. You can keep your eye on the horizon for any crews who may dive to join the experience with you, but just in case you miss it, banners will now also appear to alert players of another crew's presence. Stay vigilant and may the odds of the sea be ever in your favour!

*Voyages on Demand *

  • Voyages on demand have been temporarily disabled for this Insiders build.

Events

*Pop-Up Plunder Technical Test *

  • Ahead of the next Community Event, Insiders are needed to test out a new feature in early preview. Pop-Up Plunder creates treasure spots at specific locations across all active servers for a limited time, however treasure can only be dug up once per server - once a crew discovers the treasure on that server it’s gone!
  • For this Insiders test, treasure spots will be active for one hour at a time at specific timeframes, head to the forums for more details! Uncovering one of these test spots will reward a selection of potential treasures.

Outpost Cosmetics

*Flaming Jackal Cosmetics *

  • The ferocious Flaming Jackal set has also been expanded, with equipment and weapons now available from the Outpost shops.

Competitive Voyages

*The Skull of Siren Song *

  • Join your friends on a new one-of-a-kind shared voyage experience. ‘The Skull of Siren Song’ voyage is shared amongst every crew on the seas, inviting everyone to opt into a communal experience, however, there is only one reward, and thus only one crew who can be crowned victorious!
  • To begin, a ghostly note from Briggsy will appear on all ships, read the note and opt-in your crew for the fun to begin. After Briggsy herself appears to wish you good luck the race begins!
  • Each crew will be given two x-marks the spot maps, one will lead to the Chest of Siren Song and the other to its corresponding key. Once opened, the chest will reveal the skull of sirens song.
  • Once the skull has been recovered a swirling beacon will appear in the sky to indicate Briggsy’s location and then it’s down to the wire to reach Briggsy and claim victory.

Known Issues

*The Quest for Guybrush *

  • Any Checkpoint that contains the completion of the Trial of Treasure hunting won't contain the full pages for the trial in the questbook.
  • Stan may stop responding if not all members of the crew are present, preventing the Tale from progressing.
  • The first tale checkpoint is not awarded when clearing the mist by pouring the potion on the campfire.
  • Checkpoints currently do not work when diving to the tale therefore we advise players to sail to the tale instead to avoid any issues with their session.

*Sea of Thieves on Demand  *

  • The banner informing a new crew is approaching does not appear if the player is not near the island radius and another player surfaces.

Fixed Issues

*Gameplay *

  • The Legend of the Veil Voyage questbook can now be stashed within players quest radial.
  • Same faction battles now progress the Distinguished Faction Champion commendation.

*‘The Journey to Monkey Island’ *

  • Players can no longer get stuck in a hole in the floor at the top of the mountain due to the mist preventing them from jumping.
  • Players movement will no longer seem buffered when walking over rocks near the Mansion.

*‘The Quest for Guybrush’ *

  • Players can no longer become stuck in a gap between the mountain side and the mist zone.
  • Players can no longer bypass the mist blocking zone on the beach by the Mansion.
  • Stan’s dialogue no longer contains placeholder text.
  • Ribbsy will no longer use the same insults back-to-back.
  • The Dialogue option when speaking to Corina after the introduction cutscene now uses the correct version of the option labeled  ‘[Close]’.
  • The notification that appears for ‘The Beast’ flying away is no longer using placeholder imagery and text.
  • Stan’s barks will no longer override his dialogue voice over audio.
  • Stan’s Ship sign dialogue boxes are no longer using placeholder text.
  • There is now voice over audio when asking about the non-cupboard ship extras.
  • The light on the tree for part 2 of the treasure hunting steps is now on the correct side.
  • The Circus leaderboard will no longer be displaying random strings.
  • The safe in Stans Office is no longer blocked by a generic cupboard, which would prevent progression.
  • A defeat animation will now be played when the player defeats Ribbsy.
  • Players are no longer able to jump on top of the doorway to Corina’s shop.
  • The Meathook dialogue option pointing the player towards the beast shanty will remain after the player has summoned ‘The Beast’.
  • Ladders are now present on Hook Isle.
  • Rock next to the zipline that goes to Captain Smirks house no longer allows for players to be able to walk through it.
  • There are no longer spots of invisible walls dotted around Meathook’s island.

*Guilds of Gold *

  • After leaving the session of sailing on a Guild Ship the player does not own, that ship will no longer appear out at sea with no crew members.
  • A Guilds Ship will now become available to sail on again after a player has migrated and left the game.
  • Guild Sessions will now end as intended when there are no members of the Guild in that session.

*Pirate Emporium *

  • Spiffy no longer appears to have a texture seam visible under his chin.

*Text and Localisation *

  • Coral Artifacts now have the correct names on the notifications that appear when handing them in at The Reaper's Bones.
