Insider Patch Notes 2.8.4.1

Insider Update 2.8.4.1 is now live. We have a jam-packed update full of variety for insiders this week. Starting with a fresh batch, straight out of the oven emissary rewards for insiders to peruse and try out. Along with these rewards we have new updates from Season Ten and a sneak peek at some of the big changes coming as part of Season Twelve!

Season Twelve

*Sailing or Diving to Quests *

  • Pirates looking for adventure now have more choice than ever when it comes to the Captain’s Table, choosing whether to ‘Sail’ to their desired experience or ‘Dive’.
  • Choosing to Sail will allow the crew to make their own way, however choosing to Dive they will be pulled under the waves to the desired destination.
  • After diving, the ship will resurface near to the island that the Voyage or Tall Tale takes place. Players should be aware that any treasure onboard whilst diving will not be brought along and will be lost.

*Voyage Improvements *

  • Crews will no longer need to purchase voyages as these will now be available from the Captain’s Table free of charge.
  • All voyages have now been reworked and offer a shorter session experience, allowing longer sessions to comprise of more back-to-back voyages, along with increased rewards!
  • All voyages now offer the same experience regardless of your reputation within the trading company. Gaining promotions still provides access to new versions of the same voyage with increased challenge and risk.
  • Crews will now find voyages on the Captain’s table have been categorised into Adventurer’s or Ashen voyages. Ashen voyages will focus mainly on the Devils Roar whereas Adventurer voyages will avoid the Devils Roar. 

*New Trading Company Treasure *

  • New treasure items can now be discovered while completing voyages, offering higher Gold and Reputation payouts, that makes completing Voyages feel more valuable than ever before.

*The new treasure items appearances and reward values are currently a work in progress and do not represent the final result. *

Guilds of Gold

*Restoring Guild Ships *

  • Fellow Guild mates will now be able to restore a Guild ship that they have taken out for a spin by visiting the shipwright.

Updates

*Emissary Rewards *

  • Representing the Gold Hoarders in their Emissary Ledger can now earn players the Tribute Peak Spyglass and Bucket.
  • Players seeking out the secrets of the Order of Souls can earn the Relic of Darkness Spyglass and Bucket.
  • The Merchant Alliance honour their high-performing Ledger representatives with the Merchant Ambassador Spyglass and Bucket.
  • Flying the flag of The Reaper’s Bones and earning a high rank in their Ledger can earn players the Masked Renegade Spyglass and Bucket.
  • Legendary pirates representing Athena’s Fortune in their Ledger can earn the Magpie's Glory Spyglass and Bucket to show their allegiance to the Pirate Lord.

Gameplay Improvements

*Sword Combat Improvements  *

  • Players are now prevented from jumping or sword dashing through an opponent, ensuring that players must now choose carefully when and where to maneuver in order to find an angle to attack.
  • Improvements to hit detection should now provide consistent visual and audio feedback that a strike has landed and damaged an opponent when attacking players with a sword at the maximum strike range.
  • Players attacking with a heavy strike will now only be penalised with a stun effect when missing an opponent. Players connecting with an opponent at any point during the heavy strike will no longer find themselves confusingly stunned. 

Known Issues

*Guilds of Gold *

*This is an early preview of this feature set and therefore may still contain placeholder text or imagery. *

  • Players will not be put in a Guild Session when attempting to re-join a session.
  • The new setting "Hide Guild Names From Me" is currently available to players but will not function as intended at the moment.

*Season Twelve *

*This is a very early preview of this feature set at the moment and therefore may still contain placeholder text or imagery. *

  • Players who cancel a Voyage/Tall Tale may experience a slightly longer than normal loading time and some visual issues however should still resurface back at an island.

Fixed Issues

*Guilds of Gold *

  • A Guilds level will now appear on Guild invites.
  • On the lowest level plaque the Guild Names are now centred.
  • When a player returns from the Invites screen it will no longer automatically select the top guild.
  • When the player receives more than 20 invites, the Guild Invite counter will no longer still increase.
  • When repairing the front of the mast, the wooden plank no longer intersects through the Guild plaque.
  • Guild Plaque Distinction ranks 8 and 9 now show as the intended silver.
  • Leaving the Guild Invite Inbox does now take the player to the correct page afterwards.
  • Players are now able to click the right sided arrow on the Guild Invite page.
  • All Guild icons no longer are now the correct size for the emblems.
  • Players will now instantly receive entitlements when they buy items from shops when in a Guild Session.
  • Guild Reputation cards now appear in the Pirate Log.
  • The 'Pledged to...' text is now the correct colour in the ship's banner.
  • The Guild Emblem now appears on the 'Confirm and Create a Guild' page.
  • When removing players from the Guild, the word "kick" is no longer present. 

*Pirate Emporium *

  • The lights on the Dark Warsmith Ship Crest are now aligned correctly and move with the ship.

*Performance and Stability *

  • Improved server stability to avoid instances of players being disconnected from their session.
