Insider Patch Notes 2.7.2.1

Insider Update 2.7.2.1 is now live. To help our Insiders overcome the January blues we have added a range of new and exciting features from gameplay improvements to some totally new voyages the choice is yours to enjoy however you like.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Pirate Legend Voyages

Search for the Skull of Destiny

  • This new Captains Voyage exclusive to Pirate Legends can now be acquired at the Shipwright. Legends will be provided with the Wayfinder of Legends Compass to help direct their crew towards the mysterious Skull of Destiny.
  • Crews retrieving the Skull of Destiny will find it imbued with the glowing Flames of Fate and can cycle through each of the six coloured flames. Use this glowing skull to light all the statues at the Fort of the Damned and then place the Skull itself into the ritual cage to begin the Fort of the Damned event for you and your crew to battle.

The Search for the Skull of Destiny voyage is only currently available at the Shipwright shop but will be available from the Athena’s Fortune Hideout in a future update.

Black Powder Stashes

  • Pirate Legends should head to the Shipwright to acquire this explosive new Captain’s Voyage. This Voyage will direct crews to a nearby Skeleton Fort where armaments have been stashed for battle, restock quickly and prepare for battle!

Captains of Adventure

Captain’s Logbook

  • Additional events have been added to the logbook, tracking activities as the crew sails the perilous seas. Pirates will now find their accomplishments in the Battle for the Sea of Thieves are now represented as events in the Captains Logbook.

Milestone Notifications

  • Players will now be given the option to disable both Pirate and Ship Milestone notifications should they wish within the settings menu.

Gameplay Improvements

Stashing Quests

  • Unwanted Quests can now be stashed away allowing players to clean up their quest radial and only show Quests they are interested in. Stashed Quests can be unhidden at any time.

Improved Collectors Chest Selling

  • Treasure placed within a Collectors Chest can now be sold all at once when visiting a Merchant. Players will now be given the opportunity to sell all the items within the chest, while retaining the Chest for future use.
  • Outpost vendors will continue to take the items they can normally accept when selling, however Captains can sell to the Sovereigns who will take everything for a quicker selling experience.

Cursed Mermaid Statue Rewards

  • Cursed Mermaid Statues have now been rebalanced, allowing all sizes of crew the ability to destroy them for the precious gems inside. Sapphire, Emerald and Ruby statues no longer require multiple crewmates to defeat.

  • All Cursed Mermaid Statues now offer better rewards when destroyed, with the chance of rewarding multiple Gems to the lucky Crew.

  • With Mermaid Gems becoming more readily available from statues, Crews will no longer find Mermaid Gems washing up on islands and only Sapphire Gems can now be discovered from within Shipwrecks.

Hunter’s Call Representative

  • Stephen’s Spoils has felt empty since Merrick was lured away by the Dark Brethren. To help fill the void left in our hearts a new member of the Hunters Call now calls Stephen’s Spoils their home, Adelrick will now be stationed at Merrick’s old post and will trade on behalf of the Hunter’s Call.

Adventures

‘The Secret Wilds’

  • ‘The Secret Wilds’ has now been disabled and will no longer be returning to insiders. We would like to thank everyone who took part in this adventure and provided invaluable feedback.

Known Issues

Hunters Call Representative

  • The new Hunters Call member is currently a work in progress model, therefore their design and dialogue are not quite finished and do not represent the finalised implementation.

Xbox Loading Issue

  • Players on Xbox Console may experience instances where after loading into the game for the first time they end up in a loading screen that never seems to end. Players affected by this should restart the title and try again.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Players can no longer place treasure on the Capstan to prevent others from lowering the anchor. Any treasure dropped above the Capstan will instead be placed nearby on the floor.

Battle for the Sea of Thieves

  • Dropping treasure off the edge of the ship while sailing below the waves no longer causes the item to float away above the ship.

Captains of Adventure

  • Added missing event completion icons in the Voyager alignment.
  • Defeating Graymarrow now correctly updates in the Event Log for crews with multiple people.
  • A new page within the events log is now started for a new day within the game.

Visual and Audio

  • ‘A Pirates Life’ - The Cursed Captains skull will no longer appear to float if a player buries then digs him back up.

Performance and Stability

  • Improvements made to reduce scenarios where players can experience extended black screen loading times when using a mermaid or returning from the Ferry of the Damned.
