Insider Patch Notes 2.6.2.1
Insider Update 2.6.2.1 is now live. The Sea of Bones is back! Get ready to test your PvP skills and flex your competitive muscles, simply choose a faction and unfurl your War Map to get started. Good luck my friends and may the odds of the Sea of Bones be ever in your favour.

Sea of Bones
*Skill-Based Matchmaking *
- Players will now be matchmade with other players at the same combat skill level as themselves.
Hard Mode
- Crews deadly enough to reach the maximum streak level are now offered a greater challenge, should they dare accept it. From the War Map, crews can choose to enable ‘Hard Mode’ and will then be matched against larger ship sizes.
Cancelling the Battle
- Crews who have become unnerved at the prospect of battle now have the choice to cancel their action to matchmake as long as they do this before another opponent has been found. They may do this by selecting the cancel matchmaking option on the War Map.
Adventures
‘Herald of the Flame’
- As we prepare for the Adventure’s launch, ‘Herald of the Flame’ has now been disabled in Insiders. The team would like to thank players for all their feedback and helping shape this latest Adventure.
Known Issues
Sea of Bones
- The Kraken can appear on the player’s ship whilst in the invasion tunnel.
- Players may experience instances of server instability when taking part in invasion battles.
Fixed Issues
Sea of Bones
- After a crew joins a faction, there will now be a delay before the crew members can vote to leave at an Outpost.
- The player will now be able to keep their clothing applied during the cutscene in the Athena’s Fortune Hideout.
- The winning crew will now gain Sands of Fate when sinking an enemy ship as intended.
- The player will now receive a battle won notification when their opponent leaves the game in the middle of the battle.
- The Kraken should no longer interfere with players while they are invading a target.
- Crews will now no longer earn Allegiance from sinking the same crew.
- Migrating to a new server will no longer cause players to instantly join an invasion even though they are at an Outpost.
- Crews who defeat invaders when they are passive will now receive a ‘battle won’ notification.
- The winning crew of an invader versus invader battle will now receive ‘battle won’ notification upon victory.
- When beginning or winning/losing a battle, the notification banners will no longer use placeholder text and imagery.
- When in the Tunnel of the Damned, players can no longer use a Rowboat to jump out of a ship.
- Players who perform the ‘Voice of the Flame’ cutscene on Xbox should no longer experience server instability.
- Banners and notifications have been updated to show the new faction names.
- The faction figureheads all now contain the correct faction names.
Sea of Bones – Commendations
- Players can no longer cash in their own Reaper Emissary Flag for the 'Souvenir' and 'Quite the Collection' Commendations.
- The 'Running The Risk' Commendation no longer updates incorrectly based on crew size.
- The Exemplary Captain Commendation no longer updates incorrectly based on crew size.
- The 'For The Flame' Commendation no longer refers to the Ghostly Curse.
- Certain Commendations that were showing "No Icon" no longer do so.
- Commendations now refer to the correct curse that they are connected to.
- The Commendations for sailing so many miles while in a faction no longer updates faster than intended.
- There is no longer a comma in the 'Fiery Strike' Commendation which was incorrect.
- The 'Ferocious Warrior' Commendation is no longer missing from the ‘Servants of Fire’ pages.
Sea of Bones – Visual and Audio
- The ship in the Athena’s Fortune Hideout will no longer have visual issues when walking into the hideout.
- Movement sounds when a player has the Ghost Curse equipped now sound more ghostly when heard in third person view.
- When the War Map is folded it should no longer be missing certain textures.
- Players with the max crew level icon on the map will appear next to their ship instead of on top of it.
- The ghostly pirates who hang around in the Athena’s Fortune area now sips more evenly towards the middle of their mouth then to the side.
- The banjo next to Samuel no longer has graphical issues.
- The Tall Tale War Map placeholder has now been removed and replaced with its finalised icon text and imagery.
- Red streaks no longer appear swirling around the character part way through the cutscene instead of the end as intended.
- The books Samuel steps on will no longer have graphical errors that appear when walking up to Samuel.
- The texture resolution in some planks of the exterior back wall of the Athena’s Fortune Tavern have been improved.
- The 'Sail To Open Seas' notification is now themed to the faction the player is in.
- The sides of the Bonesmith coffin no longer have graphical issues when approached from either side.
- Player’s streak effects on the front of their ship should no longer turn grey.
- The music players hear when diving should now blend seamlessly as intended.
- Little wooden ships now appear on the War Map when a matchmaking vote passes.
- Sound effects will now play from the player's ship when entering a dive or resurfacing from underwater during an invasion.
*Sea of Bones – Environment *
- Player movements will no longer become buffered when in the water at the Athena’s Fortune Hideout expansion.
- Players can no longer intersect with the Jaw ornaments that are dotted around the Athena’s Fortune Hideout expansion.
- Players can no longer walk through lamps dotted round the Athena’s Fortune Hideout expansion.
- Players can no longer intersect or walk through rocks at the Athena’s Fortune Hideout expansion.
- Players can no longer jump and climb on set pieces to get on top of the Athena’s Fortune Hideout.
- Players can no longer intersect with the cave wall with paintings on in the Athena’s Fortune Hideout.
*Captains of Adventure *
- The first Captained Ship to join a server will now consistently retain previously saved ship decorations.
- Saving a customisation to a Captained Ship should now consistently ensure that item is equipped in the next session.
- In the Captain's Shipwright stock shop, Voyage bundles will now appear locked if the player's ship does not have room for the whole bundle.
- The Ancient Chain ornament no longer moves strangely when the ship is moving
Legend of the Veil
- Pirate Legends will once again encounter Shipwreck Graveyards during the Legend of the Veil Voyage.
- During a Legend of the Veil Voyage, crews should now be consistently directed to the next quest after completing the initial quest from Belle.
- Starting and cancelling Legend of the Veil Voyages should now ensure that treasure from Shipwreck Graveyards is removed from the world.
Pirate Emporium
- Bleakheart Banshee Eye of Reach scope no longer becomes transparent after reloading and shooting.
Environment
- Players can no longer swim through the wall with the Siren riddle on it at the Shrine of Tribute.
Performance and Stability
- Improved server stability to decrease issues where crews are kicked from the game.
