Sea of Bones
The upcoming Season Eight PvP on-demand matchmaking flow has now been re-enabled for Insider testing, now with the addition of allowing invaders to be matched together.
Invader vs Invader Matchmaking Technical Test
- In previous Technical Tests, after joining the fight invading crews were only matched with crews of the opposite faction who were lying in wait. In this matchmaking technical test, two invading crews can now be matched together.
- Use the ‘Hourglass of Fate’ to join a faction and unfurl the war map before voting to dive into battle. When ships of a similar size dive below the water, they will now emerge together – prepare for battle!
Reapers Lair Entrance
- Players must now play a shanty in order to activate the lift within the Reaper’s Hideout to descend into the Reaper’s Lair.
For this Insiders build, players must be a Pirate Legend in order to receive the specific shanty. This however is a temporary setup and is not representative of the final design.
Adventures
Ashen Lord Technical Test
- With the team’s next Adventure arriving soon in Insiders, an early technical test of part of this Adventure is now available for Insider testing. This Technical Test is focused on a fiery Ashen Lord encounter at Molten Sands Fortress.
- To begin the Technical Test, head to ‘Liars Backbone’ and talk to Belle before then heading to the nearby Ashen Winds Vortex above Molten Sands Fortress and face off against the Ashen Lord.
- After the battle, speak to Pendragon who will direct players back to Liar’s Backbone to speak to Belle and conclude the Adventure.
‘The Sirens’ Prize’
- The next Sea of Thieves Adventure continues to be available for Insider testing, head to Larinna to begin this next chapter taking players deep below the waves in search of ancient mysteries.
Gameplay Improvements
Rebalanced Ferry Time across Crew Sizes
- Following the reduced Ferry of the Damned wait time in previous updates, in this Insider’s update wait times have been rebalanced further providing a more balanced experience across all sizes of crew.
- Solo crews will remain unchanged and hold for 10 seconds, while duo crews will now be held for 15 seconds, trio crews for 20 seconds and four pirate crews for 25 seconds.
Updates
Feed the Pigs!
- The amount of time until pigs become hungry and subsequently perish if not fed has been increased.
Known Issues
Sea of Bones
- Players can ‘vote to battle’ before another player has invaded and will dive under into the tunnels whilst still in battle with another player.
- Players may sometimes spawn back in near or inside of rocks which can cause them to be transported out of world
Ashen Lord Technical Test
- As this feature is an early Technical Test, there is a range of placeholder assets, imagery and test. The team are not currently looking for feedback on these clear placeholder areas of the experience.
‘The Sirens’ Prize’
- This is a very early end-to-end playable version of this Adventure and therefore contains placeholder imagery and text that is not representative of the end Adventure.
- Deeds are currently not updating or tracking the player’s progress.
- If two crews visit the same Shrine and attempt to hand in that Shrine’s ancient treasure, they may find that they are unable to hand it in to the attending Ancient.
- Chapter three of the adventure does not always end correctly which will cause players to be unable to complete the Adventure.
