Captains of Adventure
Supply & Captain’s Voyage Shop
- The Shipwrights have expanded their wares to provide a new shop front exclusive to Captains. This new shop offers Captains a variety of supplies to fill up their ships ahead of a Voyage with the resources being placed directly into the ship’s barrels.
- In addition to stocking resources, Captains will also be able to purchase a range of Captain’s Voyages which will be stored on the Captain’s bookcase on the ship for easy access while at sea.
Captain’s Bookcase
- Any purchased Captain’s Voyages will be stored in the Captain’s bookcase aboard Captained ships for players to peruse through at their leisure. One hundred Captain’s Voyages can be stored, so Captains and their crew should have plenty of choice to pick from whilst adventuring.
- Captains and their crew can now propose Captain’s Voyages from the Captain’s table, by interacting with the table and selecting the bookcase inventory.
Improved Front End Experience
- When selecting a Captain’s Ship within the front-end, Captains are now provided easy access to settings to enable or disable crew members from customising a ship during that session.
Pirate and Ship Wipe
- As part of Insider update 2.5.3.7, all pirates and owned ships have now been wiped to provide a clean testing slate for the new additions to the Captains of Adventure features. Upon logging in, all Insiders will be required to create a new pirate and purchase new ships, however, will continue to be granted a range of ship customisations to facilitate testing.
Gunplay Improvements Technical Test
Hit Scan Projectiles Technical Test
- Ranged weapons such as the Pistol, Eye of Reach and Blunderbuss now use a hit scan projectile system. Bullets fired from these weapons will now reach their targets instantly, resulting in a more responsive gunplay experience.
- To support these new projectiles, new bullet trails have been implemented, showing the path of the bullet through the air for both the firer and observing players.
Hit Registration Improvements
- Following the introduction of hit scan projectiles, bullets are no longer subject to time-of-flight calculations and provide a more reliable source of hit detection. With this new system as a base, several further improvements have been introduced.
- Improvements to the exact location of players when shots are fired, improving the server’s ability to calculate the outcome of a shot.
- Improvements to how the server resolves a scenario where a shot hits on the client but fails to hit on the server.
Controller Aim Assist
- With the introduction of a more responsive gunplay experience, two aiming assists are now offered for players on Xbox and PC when using a controller to provide balance between controller and mouse/keyboard inputs.
- ‘Aim Assist Slowdown’ slows a player’s aiming speed when a weapon is over a target.
- ‘Aim Assist Rotation’ will slightly rotate a player’s aim toward a nearby target when strafing. The rotation effect is more pronounced when closer to the target.
Controller Aim Assist is on by default, but the option to disable this feature will become available in a future Insiders update.
