Insider Patch Notes 2.5.3.1
Insider Update 2.5.3.1 is now live. With June’s update now heading to retail, we return Insiders to previewing upcoming features. Captains of Adventure is back and ready for more Insider testing, select the ‘Captain a Ship’ option on the front-end and name your ship before setting sail!
As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the
Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Captains of Adventure
Naming A Ship
- Ship naming rules are now in full effect, limiting names to twenty characters, contain no numbers, cannot end or start with a space and contain no special characters.
Ship Renaming Deed
- Captains will continue to be able to use a Ship Renaming Deed to change the name of their ship by selecting the “Rename Ship” option found on the front-end. Ship Renaming Deeds will soon be available from the Pirate Emporium, however for this Insider’s build all pirates have been granted a single-use Ship Renaming Deed.
*Restoring a Ship *
- Captains will now be billed accordingly for the restoration of a damaged ship. Players can restore their ships by choosing the “Restore Ship” option on the front-end.
Saving Ship Cosmetics
- Captains will now be required to pay a small gold amount to save their chosen cosmetics on their ship, so that the next time they set sail their ship will retain their saved customisations.
Captain Ship Wipe
- As part of Insider update 2.5.3.1, all previously owned Captain Ships have now been wiped to provide a clean testing slate for the recent changes to the Captains of Adventure features.
Small Crew Balancing Improvements
This Insider’s update builds on previous balancing improvements along with changes following Insider’s feedback. For more on these changes head to the
Feedback Thread!
Removal of Reviving on Enemy Ships
- Following Insider’s feedback, this build removes the ability for players to revive fellow crewmates when aboard an enemy ship.
Longer Cursed Cannonball Load Time
- In this update, Cursed Cannonballs alongside chainshots now take a longer time to load into cannons to reduce their firing frequency.
Additional Sloop Respawn Locations
- New spawn locations have been added around the Sloop to provide more variety on where crew members will arrive when returning from the Ferry of the Damned. The vulnerable helm location has also been removed from the list of potential locations.
Sloop Mast Damage Rebalance
- Following Insider’s feedback, the Sloop mast has been rebalanced further. A Sloop’s mast now requires two chainshot strikes or three cannonballs before being toppled. The masts on both Brigantine and Galleons are unchanged and still require only a single chainshot strike or three cannonballs before falling.
Known Issues
*Tall Tales *
- Players migrating across servers will currently find they are unable to cancel Voyages or Tall Tale Chapters once started.
Captains of Adventure
- All Trinkets placed by players do not currently persist between sessions.
- Players can currently place Trinkets on enemy ships.
- While sailing onboard a Captain’s Ship, if the captain leaves the session – players who disconnect and rejoin the session may find all previously placed Trinkets are now invisible.
- After restoring a ship on the front-end, the gold counter will not register the change correctly until the player loads into the game.
- The Sovereign’s Hut is still removed in this Insider’s build, however the helpful Sovereigns remain for players to sell their loot to. Players will find placeholder text when talking to these characters.
