Insider Patch Notes 2.5.2.4

Insider Update 2.5.2.4 is now live. ‘Lost Sands’ has arrived back in Insiders for testing along with a range of other new features. Please focus your feedback on the Servant of the Flame Quest for ‘Lost Sands’ by speaking to Larinna and choosing to investigate the shadowy figures…

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Adventures

‘Lost Sands’

  • Pirates are now free to pledge their support to the Servant of the Flame and progress this quest in Insiders. Speak to Larinna and choose to investigate the shadowy figures to proceed down this dark path.
  • Crews who side with the Servant of the Flame in an effort to doom Golden Sands during the time-limited Adventure will earn an exclusive Title and a cosmetic reward to serve as a memento of their vengeance.
  • As crews choose to perform actions on behalf of Merrick or the Servant of the Flame, the future of Golden Sands hangs in the balance. Players can see the current state of community efforts in the visual state of Golden Sands. The more who choose to rebuild will find the haunting fog begin to reside and life return to the Outpost, however if the scales swing to the destructive force of the Reapers the island will begin to fall further into the gloom.

‘Forsaken Hunter’ Adventure Disabled

  • Following previous Technical Tests in Insiders, this Adventure has now been disabled as the team continue to improve the experience ahead of further Insider testing.

Captains of Adventure Technical Test

Purchasing and Selecting a Ship

  • When starting a session and selecting a ship from the front-end menu, players are now offered the option to ‘Captain a Ship’ and are presented with purchase options. Players can purchase Sloops, Brigantines and Galleons and can own up to 15 individual ships.

  • Players having previously purchased a ship can now select it from this ‘Owned Ship Selection’ screen.

For this Insider’s test, all Captained Ships purchased are automatically provided a generated name, the capability for captains to name a ship will come in a future update.

Restoring a Ship

  • After a stormy session a ship may become damaged and require restoration. When viewing a damaged ship in the front-end, players will be given the option to restore the ship to a pristine state for a price.

Dismantle a Ship

  • Captains looking to permanently remove a ship from service can now dismantle them from the front-end menu. Captains are required to confirm the decision before the ship is removed from their list of owned vessels.

Pirate Emporium

Prehistoric Plunderer Ship Collection

  • Emerging from the depths of time, this ship collection brings the majesty of prehistory to the seas. In addition to the main bundle, a ferocious collector’s figurehead and collector’s sails can be purchased separately.
  • A Prehistoric Plunderer Essential Ship Bundle is also on offer, including just the core ship cosmetics at a discount.

Prehistoric Plunderer Costume

  • Studded with dinosaur bones and turning your skin to amber, this costume urges you to let out your finest primeval roar!
  • While wearing this ferocious outfit, players can perform the Amber Inspector Emote.

Prehistoric Plunderer Weapons

  • Feel the brutal bite of beasts from a land before time with these four fossilised weapons.

Prehistoric Plunderer Lantern

  • It's amazing to think the tiny creature encased in this lantern evolves into a mighty Megalodon. Truly, life finds a way.

Stage Dive Emotes

  • Hide in the most dramatic fashion possible with this set of four outrageous yet somehow stealthy emotes.

Sports Day Emotes

  • Let's get physical with this selection of athletic emotes. Don't forget to warm up properly!

Freebie Rant and Rave Emote

  • This petulant display is often followed by a colourful tirade through the speaking trumpet.

Fossil Frenzy Bundle (Store Only)

  • Available only from the Xbox, Microsoft and Steam Stores, this bundle contains the Prehistoric Plunderer Costume, Lantern and Weapon Bundle, 550 Ancient Coins and a free 25,000 gold bonus for use in the Outpost shops! Head to the Microsoft Store or Steam Item Store to find out more.

Small Crew Balancing Improvements

This Insider’s update provides a range of balancing improvements to improve the balance of the smaller crew experience. For more on these changes head to the Feedback Thread!

Reduced Ferry Time for Solo Crews

  • As a solo player, being defeated and heading to the Ferry of the Damned now has a reduced wait before allowing them to return to their ship, getting them back to the experience faster.

Increased Revive Time on Enemy Ships

  • When on-board an enemy ship, reviving a crew member now takes longer, leaving players more vulnerable to attack while reviving and reducing the number of people who can be saved when downed.

Reduced Cannonball Knockback on Sloops

  • Players onboard a Sloop will find the knockback from a cannonball's splash damage no longer propels players as far into the air to prevent players so easily being knocked overboard. Players caught in the splash damage will continue to be knocked back and disorientated from the blast.

Sloop Mast Damage Rebalance

  • A Sloop's mast is now more resilient compared to the other ship types requiring two chainshot strikes before falling. Initial strikes will still damage the mast and can be repaired individually.

Longer Chainshot Load Time

  • Chainshots now take a longer time to load into cannons compared to all other cannonballs to reduce their firing frequency.

Disabling Sloop Mast Friendly Fire

  • Chainshots are no longer able to affect their own ship’s mast when fired upwards using a cannon on the deck.

Updates

Map Zoom

  • Zooming in on a handheld map or quest book no longer requires a permanent key bind. Pressing F on the keyboard or clicking the right stick on controller while looking at map or quest book will let you zoom in and out contextually.
  • Players equipping a map or quest book for the first time are now shown a tutorial, teaching new players how to zoom in.

Known Issues

‘Lost Sands’

  • Deeds found in the Adventure menu for the ‘Lost Sands’ Adventure are currently missing text.

Captains of Adventure

  • When sailing as a captain on a Brigantine; map markers, charring, ship damage and battle scars do not persist between servers.
  • When sailing as a captain on a Brigantine, the name on the ship crest is not currently displayed.

  • When setting sail on a Captained Brigantine, if there is another player on the crew the saved ship customisation may not appear when arriving in the game.

  • Trinkets applied to Captained Ships can become invisible when returning from the Ferry of the Damned or Pirate Legend Hideout. Players joining a crew in progress may also find trinkets are invisible.

  • The cost of damage isn't displayed when restoring if you scuttle your ship and leave the game before it sinks.

Pirate Emporium

  • Prehistoric Plunderer Weapons can intersect with the player's camera when firing and be seen intersecting with a pirate's body when seen by other players.
  • The Prehistoric Plunderer Cannon Flare may not be visible for all players when fired.

  • The Pirate Emporium contains a range of placeholder artwork, imagery and text. The team are not currently looking for feedback on these clear placeholder areas of the experience.

PC High Memory Usage

  • Players on PC may currently experience high memory usage during active gameplay.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Improved the experience when bailing a full bucket of water, reducing scenarios where water would still be left inside the bucket after being thrown.
  • Players lighting the Flames of Fate and placing a Ritual Skull within the Fort of the Damned will now consistently begin the encounter.
  • Players should now encounter a rotation of World Events across the seas more consistently.
  • Players should no longer experience an extended wait time on the Ferry of the Damned whilst waiting for the door to open.

‘Lost Sands’

  • When speaking to Merrick, players should no longer hear his voice over lines overlapping.
  • Phantoms are no longer blocked from ambushing players at key locations during the Adventure.
  • Merrick’s checklist should now correctly update when delivering crates that have been reburied and dug up before handing in.
  • Players should no longer hear sipping sounds after Merrick's drinking animation.

  • Crew’s handing in stolen crates will no longer cause the original owners to progress the Adventure.

  • Players beginning the Adventure from Larinna will now receive a note, directing them to their next location.

  • Crews migrating across servers after starting Merrick’s quest will now be able to progress the quest on arrival at the new server.

  • Characters repairing Golden Sands Outpost now have appropriate audio effects to support their actions.

  • Notifications received when returning crates to Sharon and Tina now contain final imagery.

  • Sharon is now placed correctly within the environment at Smuggler’s Bay.

  • Player’s feet will no longer sink into the sand near Tina on Cannon Cove.

Text and Localisation

  • Skeleton Captain names shown on Bounty Quests from the Order of Souls now display correctly when selecting Japanese language.
