Insider Patch Notes 2.5.1.5

Insider Update 2.5.1.5 is now live. Following the announcement of the upcoming Captains of Adventure update, Insiders now gain access to the early Technical Tests of some of these new features!

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Captains of Adventure Technical Test

Sailing as a Captain

  • When starting a session and selecting a Ship from the front-end menu, players are now offered a 'Captain My Ship' option. This Captain’s Ship will unlock access to a range of new benefits for sailing as a captain.
  • Crewmates looking to join a captain can be invited through the normal process or can select an open crew Galleon and wait to be matchmade.

For this Insider Technical Test, selecting 'Captain My Ship’ will provide all players with a Galleon. In future Insider updates the full range of ship sizes will become available.

Ship Persistence

  • Any visual indicators of damage taken during the time at sea on a Captain’s Ship are now saved across sessions. Signs of hull damage and even charring will now persist across sessions on the ship.
  • Starting a session or using a mermaid to recover a Captain’s Ship will always return the ship in a seaworthy state with all holes patched and damage repaired etc.
  • Any markers left on a Captain’s Ship map table will now persist across sessions.
  • Any flags set by the captain will now be saved across sessions. Crewmates are free to change flags during a session, however these will not save and the captain’s chosen flag will return when the ship is next used.

Trinkets

  • While exploring the Captain’s Galleon, crew members will now discover locations where collected Trinkets can be displayed. In this Insider’s Technical Test, interacting with a ‘Mount Trinket’ point will place a pre-determined Trinket on the location. Interacting again will remove the Trinket.

Known Issues

Sailing as a Captain

  • Players who have yet to become a captain and instead choose to sail as a crew mate aboard a Captain’s Ship will find that after leaving the session and then choosing to sail as a captain that the new Captain’s Ship will appear with damage from the previous session. We advise players to choose to sail as a captain prior to joining others as a crewmate.
  • After leaving a captained session and setting sail again on a non-captained ship of any type, players will find in the new session that the ship will act as if captained and damage will persist after sinking. This can be resolved by fully closing the game and restarting.

Trinket Saving

  • After placing Trinkets on a Captain’s Ship, returning from the Ferry of the Damned, Athena’s Fortune Hideout or rejoining a session following a disconnection will cause all Trinkets to become invisible until they are re-placed.

Fishing

  • After tiring out a fish while fishing, the fishing line continues to visually appear taught when it should display as loose indicating to the player that it is safe to reel in.

Pirate Emporium

  • The Pirate Emporium contains a range of placeholder artwork, imagery and text. The team are not currently looking for feedback on these clear placeholder areas of the experience.
  • When performing a Pocket Pet emote, the full range of actions are currently not being displayed.

Tall Tale Cutscenes

  • When playing through a Tall Tale, after interacting with a character and beginning a cutscene – moving away from that character a fair distance and returning will now cause the cutscene to stop and the character return to an idle state. The Tall Tale will continue to progress to the next chapter, however players will not visually see the cutscene take place.

Legend of the Veil Voyage

  • Crews migrating servers during the Voyage can cause various issues preventing progress.

Fixed Issues

Pirate Emporium

  • Players hands should no longer intersect with the Lionfish Wheel when turning.
  • Pets placed in the Lionfish Cannon should now sit in the correct position.
  • The Lionfish Figurehead now sits correctly on the front of the Brigantine and Sloop without intersecting the hull.
  • When equipping the Lionfish Cannons to the Galleon, all cannons are now given the correct appearance.
  • Players moving slowly away from the Lionfish Cannons should no longer see the geometry change shape at short distance.
  • The Lionfish Capstan within the preview pane now matches the final design when equipped.
  • With the Lionfish Costume equipped, players can now perform the Courtly Dance Emote.
  • The Pocket Rat Emote is now named correctly in the emote radial menu.
  • Players equipping the Masked Lionfish Costume should no longer find their equipped hair or beard interfere with the costume mask.
  • Larger pirates should no longer intersect with the chest when performing the Chest Hide Emote or when previewed within the Pirate Emporium.
  • Players equipping the Forests Blessing Costume 3 should no longer find their equipped hair or beard interfere with the costume mask.

‘Shrouded Deep’

  • When returning to the Ritual Table and placing a charged effigy, the effigy in the players hands will now be removed instantly once placed.
  • Improved the client performance of the server-wide vortex displayed when the Ritual Table is primed awaiting crews for the summoning.
  • During the final encounter, Merrick’s shouts should now match the supporting subtitles.
  • During the final encounter, the sails on the Ghost Ships now fade in and out with the Ghost Ship’s arrival in the encounter.

Legend of the Veil Voyage

  • Replaced icon for the Rank 30 Athena’s Fortune Title used in the Vanity Chest.
  • Improved exterior textures on Fort Emplacements to reduce incorrect brickwork patterns being displayed.
  • During the Haunted Island encounter, the voices of the Ancients during combat can now be heard alongside their subtitles.
  • When losing Voyage critical items, the Voyage failure banners now explain why the Voyage has failed.

Environment

  • Players should no longer become stuck within palm trees at Ancient Spire Outpost.
  • ‘Shores of Gold’ – When approaching the encounter with the Gold Hoarder, players should no longer be able to become stuck behind the Siren statue located prior to the Gold Hoarder’s lair.

Visual and Audio

  • Large pirates performing the Cheer Emote should no longer see their hands intersecting with their pirate’s body.

Performance and Stability

  • Improved client stability for some users who experienced repeated crashes on booting up the title.
  • Improved client stability across general gameplay, reducing scenarios where players would exit the title unexpectedly.
  • Server stability has been improved, reducing scenarios where crews are removed from a game session.
