Insider Patch Notes 2.5.1.1

Insider Update 2.5.1.1 is now live.  This Insider build has reopened to preview future features, however the team’s focus behind the scenes is firmly on finishing remaining work on the Legend of the Veil Voyage and Shrouded Deep Adventures – ensuring they hit our quality bar ahead of release later in April.

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Adventures

‘Shrouded Deep’

  • Following Insider feedback, the Title earned from completing the Shrouded Deep Adventure has now been renamed to ‘Summoner of Myths’ to further distance this reward from the exclusivity of the original Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost Title.
  • Crews will now receive ‘Notes Received' notifications whenever a character provides them with further instructions.

Updates

Morrow’s Peak Activity

  • Morrow's Peak Outpost seems to now be lying dormant due to decreased volcanic activity, meaning crews will no longer encounter island volcanic threats on this island.

Known Issues

Rowboat Interactions

  • Rowboats which are collected from islands will now strangely float into the air after rowing them a large distance away from where they were collected.

‘Shrouded Deep’

  • During Belle and Merrick’s final cutscene, players are still able to interact with them to hear dialogue.
  • Players unable to engage the summoned Shrouded Ghost for 10 minutes will find it disappears but does not fail the Adventure, causing crews to be unable to progress.
  • Players having already completed the Shrouded Deep Adventure are no longer offered the ability to ‘Replay the Adventure’ from Belle. As a temporary workaround, Insiders can delete their pirate and create a new one to replay the Adventure and hunt the Megalodon in this update.

Legend of the Veil Voyage

  • Purchasing the highest rank of the Athena’s Fortune company will currently prevent players from being able to purchase other Athena’s Fortune Voyages.
  • The Pirate Lord can sometimes disappear during a cutscene, preventing the Voyage from progressing. In addition, walking far away from the Pirate Lord during his cutscene can cause his dialogue to pause and will not resume when returning.
  • Crews migrating servers during the Voyage can cause various issues preventing progress.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Players who have rebound the Radial More key will now find their Shanty Shortcut key is now unbound if the same key is selected.

'Shrouded Deep’ Final Encounter

  • After defeating a summoned Megalodon, finding the soul floating in the water and holding out the effigy, players will now find the soul easier to interact with and charge the effigy.
  • When charging a Megalodon effigy, players will now hear appropriate audio effects.
  • After summoning the Shrouded Ghost, the battle music will begin around the Killer Whale.
  • On Pendragon’s arrival, the battle music will now switch to an elevated song.
  • When defeating the Shrouded Ghost, the battle music will now switch to a less intense song.
  • The map circle sizes on each island now better represent the cannon locations.
  • Crews will now receive a notification on completing the Adventure that a Memento has been earned.
  • Pendragons speech from The Blackwyche can now be heard from a greater distance.
  • Larinna’s note is no longer referenced as a clue.
  • During Belle’s cutscene when first arriving on the Killer Whale, she will now point to spent effigies dotted around the table.
  • Players should no longer hear Merrick sipping at his tankard at an incredible distance away from the Killer Whale.
  • The cannon placed on Mermaid’s Hideaway should now be inside the map circle shown by Belle.
  • After summoning a Megalodon with a flare, the surrounding visual effects now last for the duration of the flare.
  • Players are no longer teleported back to their ship when jumping on the railings at the back of the Killer Whale.
  • Firing a Megalodon summoning flare now plays the expected audio effects.
  • Summoning the Shrouded Ghost now plays the expected audio effects from the Ritual Table.
  • After summoning the Shrouded Ghost, Belle and Merrick no longer disappear and reappear on the cannons.
  • All cutscenes when interacting with characters will now hide the interaction tooltips to prevent overlapping dialogue.
  • All cutscenes when interacting with characters will now wait for them to finish speaking their dialogue before beginning the cutscene.
  • After summoning a Megalodon, the supporting battle music now begins on arrival of the Meg.

Legend of the Veil Voyage

  • Players can now move freely around and above the ship’s handrail once the Veil of the Ancient is present.
  • Losing a critical Voyage item will now fail the Voyage.
  • After completing the Voyage, the Voyage banners will now only appear once.
  • The Pirate Lord should now consistently appear on the players ship and play his cutscene.
  • Compass directions shown within Quest Pages now display correctly.
  • The Servant of the Flame hat is now using the correct model.
  • The Ancient Cutlass and Reaper Cutlasses now have the appropriate descriptions.
  • Zoom Map Quests now support colourblind enhancements from the in-game settings menu.

Legend of the Veil – Haunted Islands

  • Defeated Ancients now have accompanying audio effects when dying.
  • When uncovering the Veilstone, the correct themed audio will now be used.

Legend of the Veil – Shipwreck Graveyard

  • Exploring Siren Treasuries near Shipwreck Graveyard locations should no longer cause visual and audio effect issues when swimming down to the Treasury.
  • Players exploring a Shipwreck Graveyard can now collect all keys that can be discovered.
  • Quest Pages found while exploring shipwrecks should no longer be floating above the ground.
  • Improved client stability when returning to a Shipwreck Graveyard from the Ferry of the Damned.

Legend of the Veil – Haunted Forts

  • When approaching a Haunted Fort location, the surrounding lighting will now change at the intended range.
  • When attacking Emplacements, Firebombs, Chainshots and Blunderbombs now deal their intended reduced structural damage.
  • All cannonball types fired at Haunted Forts now display ghostly impact effects.
  • Haunted Forts can no longer hit their own targets with cannonballs.
  • Destroying Fort Emplacements now creates crumbling audio effects.
  • Destroying all Fort Emplacements then migrating across servers ensures that on arrival at the destination server, the Haunted Fort defences have been taken down.

Visual and Audio


  • Ship Sails viewed from a distance while inside a storm no longer flicker.
  • The Naval Commander short haircut no longer intersects with the player on a range of larger body types.
