Sea Forts
The ghostly memories of Sea Forts spotted out at sea have now begun to take physical form within the Sea of Thieves…
Sea Forts
- Upon reaching the final wave of the Sea Fort Encounter, the Phantom Captain will now appear alone in the final wave as a last-ditch attempt to defend the encampment.
- Additional wood and cannonball barrels have been added to a range of Forts to provide consistent resource levels across each fort for restocking.
Updates
Scuttle Ship Reminder
- Players receiving a scuttle ship notification when defeated by another crew three times can now press a key to be taken straight to the crew management menu to begin the vote to scuttle.
Outpost Cosmetics
Sandy Corsair Sea Dog Set
- The Outpost clothing shops now stock the Sandy Corsair Sea Dog clothing set, available to purchase for gold.
Known Issues
Sea Forts
- The Royal Crest and Imperial Crown Fortresses, while active on approach, will not currently be defended by Phantoms. For this Insider’s test, please avoid these Forts and focus testing on other locations.
- The new Sea Forts are currently in an early stage of development, and the environmental geometry is still considered work in progress. Players may therefore discover invisible walls and uneven flooring while navigating the Forts, and a range of mechanisms may not yet be functional. Phantoms encountered during the encounter can also move between floors and can become stuck in the environment during combat.
- Sea Fort encounters are currently balanced for one to two player crews and while dynamic difficulty is used for three and four player crews, these encounters have not yet been balanced.
- Phantoms defeated within the Sea Fort do not drop the required key needed to access the upper storage room door – this will be made available in a future Insider’s update.
Pirate Emporium
- The Pirate Emporium contains a range of placeholder artwork, imagery and text. The team are not currently looking for feedback on these clear placeholder areas of the experience.
Legend of the Veil
- Due to server instability, the Shipwreck Graveyard Quest has currently been disabled in this Insider’s Update.
- Veil Stones slotted into the Veil of the Ancients can become invisible after a player’s death or upon disconnecting. This is visual only and does not affect the ability to complete or progress on the Voyage.
- Crews migrating servers during the Voyage can cause various issues preventing progress.
Sea Dogs Reputation
- Players having earned the Legendary Sea Dog Commendation at any grade will currently not find this Commendation visible in the Athena’s Fortune Reputation pane.
- Insiders boosted to Sea Dogs Rank 50 will have access to the ‘Battle Record’ within the Reputation tab even without having fully completed any Sea Dogs Commendations.
- Insiders boosted to Sea Dogs Rank 50 will have been granted all associated promotions and Titles. The Outpost stores will therefore not show these titles available for purchase.
Fixed Issues
General
- When sitting in a Rowboat, interaction prompts for nearby seats and objects are no longer shown as they cannot be interacted with until the player stands.
Sea Forts
- Thrones found within each Sea Fort can now be interacted with to sit down.
- Sleeping in Sea Fort beds now allows Commendations for sleeping to be progressed.

- Players can no longer sit on knocked over chairs within the Fort.
- Some Sea Forts now have a bell house on the top level of the structure.

- Players will find all ladders on the Sea Forts now interactable.
- Treasure spotted in the Vault is no longer removed on defeating the Phantom Captain.
- Players interacting with the World Map will no longer appear floating when watched by others.
- Once a Sea Fort is cleared and the Treasuries raided, upon leaving the Fort the doors will now lock when the Fort resets, requiring crews to progress through to unlock the Treasuries once again.
- Players should no longer be able to see through the geometry when swimming in the loading dock.
- Rogue skeletons should no longer be heard screeching from somewhere inside the Sea Fort structure.
- Unlocking the Sea Fort Treasury now uses correct key animation in the lock.
- The Sea Fort Treasury now uses a more informative tooltip when locked, helping inform players what key is required.

Legend of the Veil – Haunted Forts

- Players and Ships will now be pushed away from Fort and Emplacement locations if they are being blocked as they begin to materialise in the world.
- Shots fired from Phantom Cannoneers now have a ghostly visual effect.
Legend of the Veil – Shipwreck Graveyards
- The Gold Piles found within the shipwrecks now visually appear like a pile of gold coins.
- All treasure located within the Grim Fortune can now be retrieved by players.
Sunken Kingdom
- Players disconnecting and rejoining the game with treasure stored in a Sunken Merfolk Statue will now once again be able to retrieve it from the surface.
- Players searching for the Breath of the Sea will no longer find it disappear if the crew spends an extended amount of time to complete the Voyage.
