Insider Patch Notes 2.4.2.2
Insider Update 2.4.2.2 is now live. Along with improvements to the new Sea Forts, new gameplay improvements are arriving for Insider testing and feedback too!
As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the
Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Sea Forts
The ghostly memories of Sea Forts spotted out at sea have now begun to take physical form within the Sea of Thieves…
Sea Forts
- Sea Forts are now defended by the ghosts of Spanish sailors. On defeating the waves of Phantoms, a Spanish Phantom Captain now appears to defend their naval base.
- Crews can now discover treasure stashed around the Sea Forts in many different hiding places.
- Players should now find less cooked fish and meat when exploring barrels on the various Sea Forts.
Updates
Scuttle Ship Reminder
- Players who are defeated by another crew three times within a short space of time are now shown a reminder when reaching the Ferry of the Damned of the ability to Scuttle the ship and move to a safer location. In a future update this notification will provide fast access to the feature itself.
Visible Fish Names
- While fishing, as fish rises to the surface to take a nibble of bait the name of the fish is now displayed to help identify it. While this feature is enabled by default to improve accessibility for all players, it can be disabled by adjusting ‘Show Nameplates for Fish’ in the Settings menu.
Dynamic Resolution on Xbox One X
- On Xbox One X consoles, Sea of Thieves will now dynamically scale resolution in order to maintain a smooth 30 frames-per-second experience during periods of high activity.
Emergent Threat Balancing
- When facing off against Gold Skeletons, splashing them with water to rust them now disables them for longer. While rusted these skeletons also now take additional damage from all sources.
- Shadow Skeletons exposed to light are now made vulnerable for longer, allowing crews to capitalise on their weakness.
- When encountering Siren Leaders and Siren Grunts while below the waves, these foes will less frequently use the Scratch melee attack in comparison to their ranged skills.
Known Issues
Sea Forts
- The new Sea Forts are currently in an early stage of development, and the environmental geometry is still considered work in progress. Players may therefore discover invisible walls and uneven flooring while navigating the Forts, and a range of mechanisms may not yet be functional. Phantoms encountered during the encounter can also move between floors and can become stuck in the environment during combat.
- Sea Fort encounters are currently balanced for 1-2 player crews and do not yet support dynamic difficulty scaling based on crew size.
- Phantoms defeated within the Sea Fort do not drop the required key needed to access the upper storage room door – this will be made available in a future Insiders update.
- Once a Sea Fort is cleared and the Treasuries raided, the Fort doors do not currently lock when the Fort resets, allowing crews access to the Treasuries once again.
Fixed Issues
General
- Merchant Alliance representatives once again offer players access to the Fireworks stock within their dialogue choices.
Sea Forts
- The lock pick dropped by the Phantom Captain has now been replaced with the Vault Key which can now only be used on the Vault Door.
- Items placed around the Sea Fort interiors as dressing should no longer bob with the waves.
- All enemies within a wave should now consistently appear, and once defeated will allow the fort to progress.
- The rowboat dock underneath the fort should no longer have areas where players can see through the geometry.
- The beams in the rowboat dock portcullis no longer clip through the floor.
Adventure Menu
- During an active Adventure, the ‘Ends In’ countdown now correctly displays the time remaining before the Adventure ends.
Environment
- The lantern hanging above the Sloop’s map table should no longer be accidentally used when players are attempting to interact with the map table.
- Players can now freely explore the ruined Tavern at Golden Sands Outpost without becoming stuck on debris.
- Pirate Emporium audio effects can no longer be heard at heard on Golden Sands Outpost.
- Graymarrow should no longer become stuck in a tree while navigating the Fort of the Damned.
- Skeletons should no longer become stuck in the geometry on Shark Fin Camp.
- Ashen Lords using lunge attacks should no longer be able to become stuck inside rocks.
- Players moving around the Sea Dogs Tavern in Adventure should no longer find themselves jitter in certain areas of flooring and stairs.
- Pets should now be able to move freely around the Athena's Fortune Hideout without becoming blocked.
- Players should no longer be safe teleported on Mermaid’s Hideaway when jumping into the environment.
