Insider Patch Notes 2.4.0.1
Insider Update 2.4.0.1 is now live. With a range of onboarding improvements for new players to test, Insider’s pirates have again been reset. The Legend of the Veil Voyage also remains disabled however will return for a future Insider’s build.
Updates
New Player Onboarding Notifications
- New players will now receive a notification after selling items to the Gold Hoarders, The Order of Souls, or the Merchant Alliance for the first time, informing them that they can purchase Voyages from these companies that will lead them to additional loot.
- Players collecting fish or meat for the first time will now also receive a notification, directing them to the Hunter's Call where they can sell their can sell their catch. The notification will also inform players of how to use their ship’s map to locate a nearby Seapost.
- New players purchasing their first cosmetic items will now be informed how to use the various cosmetic chests to equip the item, including clothing, weapons, equipment and ship parts.
Onboarding Voyage Improvements
- When new players arrive on the Sea of Thieves, after waking in the tavern and listening to the Mysterious Stranger, players will now be directed to the Outpost Signposts which will then help guide them around the Outpost.
Insiders Pirate Wipe
- As part of Insider update 2.4.0.1, all pirates have now been wiped to provide a clean testing slate for the new additions to the New Player Onboarding Flow. Upon logging in, all Insiders will be required to create a new pirate, with some being automatically boosted to Pirate Legend for testing.
Known Issues
Ranged and Melee Weapon Hit Detection
- In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements to improve the player combat experience.
Fixed Issues
General
- In the Pirate Emporium, the Royal Revenge Eye of Reach should no longer be missing its tinted scope when aimed.
- Throwing water at another player on a moving ship should now show the water effects behaving correctly.
- When playing Arena on Xbox, the Winter's Fire Wheel visual effects should now show correctly.
Megalodon
- When a Megalodon attacks a player’s ship they should no longer intersect the ship and cause it to be thrown into the air.
- Defeating a Megalodon when it is close to your ship should no longer cause the ship to be thrown into the air.
- When encountering a Megalodon, they should no longer become stuck following close behind a player’s ship and should change direction before attacking.
Character Model Quality
- Some pirate body types should no longer be shown with disconnected limbs when viewed from a distance while wearing items from the Bell Brigade, Midnight Blades and Party Boat clothing.
*Burying Items*
- Tall Tale items should now have toast notifications when buried or dug up.
Season Five
- The ‘Legend of Buried Treasures’ Commendation should now unlock on completing all other Commendations.
Sitting & Sleeping
- Players sitting or sleeping should no longer avoid idle timers and should now be removed from the game after a period of inactivity.
- Some pirate body types should no longer find excessive clipping when sitting in various locations.
Sunken Kingdom
- ‘Shrine of Ocean Fortune’ – Loot retrieved from the Sunken Merfolk Statue near the top of the Shrine should no longer cause the loot to float off the edge of the platform.
- ‘Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – Areas within the Shrine should now load in correctly no longer causing sections to quickly flash.
- ‘Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – Cursed Voyage items should no longer be able to be dropped onto coral, making it inaccessible.
Tall Tales
- Rowboats should no longer be able to be pushed inside the Castaway’s hut.
- Ammo pouches on a harpoon should no longer be able to go through the Tunnel of the Damned.
- ‘Captains of the Damned’ – The braziers should now be displayed when default quality selection is set to 'Cursed'.
- ‘Captains of the Damned’ – The rock formation in the bayou should now have the correct collision and players should no longer be able to walk in the air.
