Insider Patch Notes 2.3.1.5

Insider Update 2.3.1.5 is now live. Take a seat (literally) with the introduction of Stools! Head out to islands after grabbing a map from the Quest Board, find yourself a Stool and relax while your crew puts on a firework show for you!

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Gameplay Improvements

Stools

  • While players have seen stools dotted around the world before, these special, interactable Stools can be discovered, washed up across the seas.
  • Stools can be picked up and carried along on your journey. Fancy a seat on the beach while your crew digs for treasure? Bring your own!

The emergent spawning of these Stools is temporary for Insider testing coverage and is not representative of the final spawning locations for Stools.

Sitting Tutorial

  • Sitting in a position for the first time will now provide a tutorial notification explaining how players can access the third person camera.

Fireworks

  • Fireworks can now be found in barrels across the Sea of Thieves, as well as being purchasable from the Merchant Alliance.
  • A range of new Fireworks crates are also now available from the Merchant Alliance.

Signal Flares

  • Players will now discover a stock of Signal Flares in their ship’s Cannonball Barrels.
  • Loading a Signal Flare into a cannon and firing will launch a bright beacon into the sky that persists, allowing players to call for aid or signal their allies!

Deep Sea Enemy Encounters

  • While swimming underwater, players can still be ambushed straight away by Sirens, but this now occurs less frequently.
  • When a crew encounters Sirens in the open seas, the limit on how many Sirens will appear during the encounter has been significantly reduced.

Known Issues

Stools

  • When picking up a Stool, the player’s hands will not play the correct animation, showing incorrect placement of the hands.

Quest Board

  • Crews can currently be rewarded multiple times for a single item of treasure when burying, sharing and digging on repeat across multiple crews. Crews will soon be limited to only one reward per unique item to prevent this behaviour.
  • When a server shuts down, all maps posted to the Quest Board are lost. In a future Insider’s update, when a server shuts down, crews will be rewarded with a smaller amount of Renown and Reputation rather than a completed map as compensation for their efforts.
  • If multiple players try to take the same map from the Tavern Board, they may both receive a success message, but only one crew will receive the map.

Burying Treasure

  • The map bundles look oddly positioned in the player's hand in both first-person and third-person view.
  • Items that are partially buried when a player dies cannot be fully buried unless they are fully dug back up again.

Fireworks

  • Fireworks have a chance to not fire from a cannon.
  • Players are only able to buy one Bountiful Firework Crate per crew.
  • Migrating across servers while a Firework’s fuse is lit causes it to be unusable when arriving on the new server.

Sitting & Sleeping

  • Sitting or sleeping players appear unanimated for other players when approaching them from a distance or after joining their session while in progress.
  • Players do not currently drown when sleeping underwater and are also not removed from a seating position when the ship sinks.
  • Players taking damage while sitting in a spot can often be knocked in a different direction than where they started from.
  • Taking damage from certain attacks such as heavy sword strikes and Blunderbombs do not knock players out of the seated position.

Settings Menu Refresh

  • On Xbox, players are unable to reset the Video Settings page to default.

Cannon Rowboat

  • Defeating emergent enemies or emergent enemy ships with the Cannon Rowboat does not progress the relevant Commendations.

Player Input Handling

  • After travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, players may be unable to open the Settings Menu or Pirate Log.

Pirate Emporium

  • The Pirate Emporium is currently using a range of placeholder text and imagery.

Feast of Bounty

  • There is placeholder imagery throughout the event.

Fixed Issues

General

  • When caging animals, leaving them on an island and returning from a distance should no longer cause the animal to change its colour.
  • When using Alt+Tab to switch windows, using the mouse to click back to the game window will now select the window, and should no longer also perform an action within the game.
  • Treasure items, chests and pets should now be able to be given to or taken from other players.
  • A player’s shadow should no longer show the player having two extra arms.
  • On a Galleon, rats should no longer freeze in place at certain water levels.
  • When a player is looking into the sky whilst holding an item, their pirate's hand should no longer disappear.
  • A player’s fingers should no longer stick out of the Wicked Web Gloves.
  • The Fearless Bone Crusher Figurehead should now sit correctly on all ship types.
  • When playing on an Xbox One, a player’s screen should no longer flash rapidly when another player is interacting or cancelling an interaction with a ladder whilst hold a pet.

Fireworks

  • The Firework fuse audio when fired from a cannon is no longer placeholder.

Burying

  • After being buried and then dug up, animals will still appear in the crates.
  • Player should no longer be able to bury multiple items in the same location.
  • Items should no longer teleport towards the player when being buried but should bury in place.

Settings Menu Refresh

  • On PC, when resetting Video Settings to default, the frame rate lock should no longer default to 15 FPS and should now default to being “Off”.

Pirate Emporium

  • All November emotes and emote bundles should now have their final imagery.
  • All sale offers should have the sale tag when inspecting the bundle contents.
  • The 'Air Hug' emote now has its final name.

Sunken Kingdom

  • If a player dies while in the process of handing in to the Sunken Merfolk Statue, the storing of the items will now be cancelled immediately, and the total items stored will not be updated.

Feast of Bounty

  • The Title reward should now show how many of the goals have been completed correctly.
