Insider Patch Notes 2.3.1.2

Insider Update 2.3.1.2 is now live. This Insider’s build introduces more quality-of-life improvements. Head to the Outposts to get a look at the new Outpost location banners, and let your ship take on some water to get a glimpse at those scurrying stowaways!

As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Gameplay Improvements

Rats on Ships

  • As a ship begins to fill with water, rats can now be seen scurrying from the bottom deck to the middle deck as a way to provide players with visual feedback that the ship is filling with water. As the ship continues to fill, they’ll scurry from the middle deck to the top deck – keep a look out!

Wrong Delivery Location

  • Players will now get a notification informing them when they try to sell an item to the wrong Trading Company and will also inform players which company the item should be sold to. For example, trying to sell a Reaper's Chest to the Order of Souls will give players a notification saying to take it to the Reaper's Hideout.

Outpost Location Banners

  • When players walk within the vicinity of key areas of interest on Outposts, they will now be notified as to what location they are in by a notification banner. While this feature is enabled by default to improve the new player experience, players can choose to disable this using the ‘World Location Banners’ in the settings menu.

Updates

Report a Player

  • Within the settings menu, crews can now use ‘Report a Player’ directly from within the game to report a player to the Sea of Thieves team for moderation and action.
  • Players will be asked a number of questions to help categorise the report along with an email address to help continue the reporting process.

In this Insiders build, while an email is required to proceed with the report – no email correspondence will be sent to players until a future update.

  • Once the report has been completed, players will be shown a list of players who they have been in the vicinity of in the last few hours to enable the report to be targeted at a specific player.

For Insider testing purposes, no moderation actions will actually take place from any reports.

Accessibility

Settings Menu Refresh

  • Setting menus have now been refreshed, providing new categories with much clearer headings for improved ease of use. Accessibility settings have also been removed from their own section and placed in the appropriate category for the area of the experience they seek to improve.
  • Each category in the settings menu now supports the ability to reset only the selected category back to default.

Known Issues

Burying Treasure

  • The map bundles look oddly positioned in the player's hand in both first-person and third-person view.
  • Players shouldn't be able to bury items in the same location.
  • Items that are partially buried when a player dies cannot be fully buried unless they are fully dug back up again.
  • When digging up Gunpowder Kegs during Voyages or Skeleton Orders, the keg’s fuse will be lit.
  • Immediately switching to a weapon after burying items will make the player stuck in a blocking pose with a cutlass or stuck aiming down sights with a gun.

Cannon Rowboat

  • Defeating an emergent enemy or emergent enemy ship with the Cannon Rowboat does not progress the relevant commendation.

Larinna’s Black Market

  • Players are unable to access Larinna's Black Market.

Feast of Bounty

  • There is placeholder imagery throughout the event.

Player Input Handling

  • Jumping while performing an emote will no longer break the player out of the emote.

Fixed Issues

General

  • After firing an Eye of Reach, switching to a Cutlass and back in fast succession should no longer reload the weapon outside of the players view.
  • During the Maiden Voyage, when the player loses control of their ship, Seasons notifications should no longer pop-up.
  • Players should now be able to redeem resource and commodity crates even after server migration.

Burying Items

  • Players should now see that the fuse on Gunpowder Kegs will only ignite if fully buried then dug up instead of anytime a player digs at the keg.
  • When players share a map with another player, the text in the toasts for each crew should now appear the correct way around.
  • The buried item visual effect should be visible from all angles when an item is buried.

Tall Tales

  • ‘Captains of the Damned’ – Players should no longer get stuck between tree roots near the shipwreck in swamp area.

Sunken Kingdom

  • After retrieving Sunken Merfolk Statue loot on the surface and migrating, returning to the Sunken Merfolk Statue should no longer show the statues eyes glowing.
  • ‘Shrine of Hungering’ – When the lower stone face is activated a second time, the water audio and visual effects should no longer be stuck on.
  • ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ – Players should no longer be able to use the terrain and sword lunges to skip the Shrines Puzzle.
  • ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ – There should no longer be a gap in the environment allowing the player to see out of the Shrine.
  • Within Treasuries, the Vaultmaster’s health should no longer reset if a player’s crew dies and is wiped.

Visual & Audio

  • When boarding a ship from the sea, players are no longer able to muffle the boarding audio effects by grabbing the ladder while underwater or while using equipment, ensuring nearby players will always hear a pirate boarding from the ocean.
  • Players should no longer be able to strike a location where other players may be respawning and receive an audio effect, confirming that player’s location.
  • The experimental HDR experience improvement on Xbox Series X & Series S consoles has once again been disabled.

Player Input Handling

  • Jumping while performing an emote should now correctly break the player out of the emote.

Accessibility

  • When “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled all settings headers should be correctly narrated.
  • When “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled the spinning compass should no longer continue to be narrated when the Game Options are open.
  • When “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled it should be correctly narrated that players are navigating the Pause Menu.

Localisation

  • When the game language is set to Korean, dying and offering Soul to Ferryman should show the circle filling when holding the key required to complete that action.
