Insider Patch Notes 2.2.1.7
Insider Update 2.2.1.7 is now live. Head to the Events tab to take part in the Fury of the Damned event to see what Season Four has to offer. In true pirate fashion, you can now bury your plunder to hide it from other pirates that roam the seas.
As always, if you encounter any bugs, then please head to the
Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Sunken Kingdom
Legend of the Sunken Kingdom Voyage
- Larinna is now offering pirates a new Voyage for purchase, the ‘Legend of the Sunken Kingdom’. Scholars have left clues to uncover the mysteries hidden below the surface in the Shrines of the Sunken Kingdom. For this Insider’s build, all players have been granted a free ‘Legend of the Sunken Kingdom’ Voyage directly to their inventory to get them started on their journey.**
- The coin trails in Shrines should now be only visible to the crew doing the Voyage only.
- The sail distance to the buried chest/notes should now be shorter and the buried chests/notes can spawn in any region.
Siren Shrines
- Players can now find Tridents and Gunpowder Kegs within the Shrine of Ancient Tears.
- During the Shrine of the Flooded Embrace, crews should no longer encounter Siren Leaders and instead will battle regular Sirens.
- The Shrine of Ocean's Fortune now offers a Chest of Ancient Tribute for crews reaching the top of the shrine.
- All Siren Shrines now have an increased chance of finding sunken treasure outside the Shrine on the surrounding seabed.
Siren Treasuries
- Barrels found within each Siren Treasury encounter now have increased chances of being stocked with Firebombs and Blunderbombs to restock crews against the threats ahead.
Message in a Bottle Quests
- When exploring on islands across the wider Sea of Thieves, discovering a washed-up message in a bottle will now have an equal chance of providing a Map to the Sunken Kingdom compared to a regular X Marks the Spot Map. Previous Insider builds had an elevated chance of discovering Coral bottles, therefore this returns the intended setup to an equal chance ahead of release.
Sunken Kingdom Commendations & Rewards
- The ‘Seeker of the Sea’ Commendation now has reduced criteria, requiring only 30 Breath of the Sea to be cashed in to complete.
Burying Treasure
Burying Treasure
- Shovels now have a secondary use: enabling pirates to bury treasure. With an item dropped on soft ground, use RMB or LT to begin burying the item in the ground, continue burying to fully hide the item.
Buried Treasure Maps
- When an item is fully buried, the crew will receive an ‘X Marks the Spot’ map marking the location of the treasure. Burying multiple items on the same island will add additional X’s to the map. Due to issues with Buried Treasure Maps during Server Migration, this Insider build will have server migration disabled to allow extended testing on this feature.**
- Maps can be gifted to other crews! With the map equipped press RMB or LT to offer the map and should the other crew accept, it will be removed from the quest radial.
- Be warned - when a member of the crew is killed by another player, they will drop all buried maps in a bundle, allowing them to be stolen.
Fury of the Damned
Larinna’s Black Market
- When players talk to Larinna, she will now have dialogue pertaining to the Fury of the Damned event. Players will also be able to see what rewards are available in this event when going into Larinna’s Black Market Shop.
Event Week 4 Active
- Week four will be active in this Insider build, where all the Deeds are in their bonus states and are worth their maximum amount.
Updates
Nautical Narration
- Players will now find an additional option in the nautical narration settings ‘Continuous when equipped’ allowing the compass to narrate without the player needing to raise it to their face.
HDR Experience on Xbox Series X & Series S Consoles
- Following Insider feedback on the introduction of an experimental HDR Experience improvement on Xbox Series X & Series S consoles, this change has now been rolled back.
