Insider Patch Notes 2.2.1.3
Insider Update 2.2.1.3 is now live. Check out the Pirate Emporium, adorn your ship and pirate before heading out to discover the Treasuries that have re-emerged in the depths of the Sea of Thieves, brimming with riches just waiting to be plundered!
We will continue to monitor bug reports from this build, so please continue to report any critical bugs you encounter by heading to the

Sunken Kingdom
Siren Shrines
- The ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ is now unlocked for Insiders. This Shrine is an ancient tomb, transformed by the Sirens into a grand chamber of offerings to their kingdom and royalty. Explore the lost treasure offerings and uncover the secrets buried within.
In this Insider’s build, all other Siren Shrines and Siren Treasuries are disabled to focus testing on this new Shrine.
Season Four
Seasonal Progression and Rewards
- Season Four is now active in Insiders but is currently using Season Three’s cosmetics rewards as placeholder.
Season Four Trials
- Players looking to accelerate their progress through a Season should take on the Trials – themed sets of tasks known as Deeds that will test your adventuring, exploring and battling capabilities.
- Season Four contains a refreshed set of Trials for new players and experienced pirates alike, new for this Season is the introduction of refreshing weekly and monthly Trials serving as new goals for crews to tackle as the Season progresses.
- Weekly Trials will challenge crews to short session experiences and reward a meaningful amount of Renown towards their Season progress. Monthly Trials will task crews with a larger feat, and reward a sizeable Renown boost to their progression through Season Four.
For this Insiders Build all Weekly and Monthly Trials have been enabled together, allowing full testing coverage.
Pirate Emporium
Season Four Plunder Pass
- Season Four’s Plunder Pass is available for purchase through the Pirate Log, Pirate Emporium, Microsoft Store or Steam Item Store, adding a range of premium rewards to unlock.
Golden Nile Ship Collection
- Adorn your ship with the new Golden Nile Ship Collection, complete with a majestic Collector’s Figurehead and glorious Collector’s Sails!
- A Golden Nile Essential Ship Bundle is also on offer, including the core ship cosmetics at a lower price.
Golden Nile Costume
- Look snappy in the new crocodile-themed Golden Nile Costume!
Golden Nile Weapon Bundle
- Impress your crew and enemies with these glittering Golden Nile Weapons.

Accessibility
Swimming Upwards
- Players can now hold down the space bar on keyboard or A on a gamepad to swim directly up when in the water. This keybind is remappable for players to change to their preference.
Ship Compass Narration
- Nautical Narration has now been extended to support narration of the ship’s compass when “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled.
- When Nautical Narration is set to ‘One Shot’, when using the ship’s wheel, the player will need to press E on keyboard or Y on a gamepad to narrate the current direction the ship is facing.
AZERTY Keyboard Support
- When playing with an ‘AZERTY’ keyboard layout, the ‘1’ and ‘2’ keys will now quick swap to the appropriate items.
Updates
Muting Copyrighted Audio in ‘A Pirate’s Life’
- A new option can be found in audio settings to allow content creators to mute all copyrighted audio heard throughout the ‘A Pirate's Life’ Tall Tales.
- When ‘Mute Copyrighted Audio’ is enabled, any music cue's, sound effects or audio that is from or based on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies or ride will be muted, including the "Yo-ho, A Pirate's life for me" shanty when played by players.
Improved HDR Experience on Xbox Series X & Series S Consoles
- The HDR experience has been improved when playing on Xbox Series X or Series S consoles. An improved colour palette has been introduced, providing richer colours while also retaining the bright HDR highlights used by various visual effects.
Front End Updates
- The front-end splash screen has been updated for Season Four and the introduction of the Sunken Kingdom, along with new audio.
Island Enemy Encounters
- When encountering emergent threats while exploring smaller resource islands, crews will now only encounter a specific type of enemy in a wave and no longer experience a wave of mixed enemy types.
Known Issues
Sunken Kingdom
- The fog effects above the Shrines and Treasuries cuts in and out during normal ocean movements when sailing on a Sloop or when in the water.
- Selling the Sapphire or Emerald Breath of the Sea to the Reaper’s Bones gives the incorrect gold value.
- When you're above the Shrine of Tribute or the Sunken Peal Tale location the ambient fog disappears.
- There is fog inside the majority of Sunken Kingdom locations.
- The Sunken Kingdom Commendations are missing in game.
- The Coral ship parts and weapons aren't showing up in the Outpost Shops.
Sunken Treasure Merfolk
- When interacting with a Sunken Treasure Statue, players will experience an early version of a tutorial helping guide players through the feature. This tutorial is currently work in progress and not yet ready for Insider testing.
- When storing treasure with the Sunken Merfolk statues, upon returning to the surface and migrating servers the friendly Merfolk will not be present for crews to collect their treasure.
- After storing treasure with the Sunken Merfolk statues and using a statue to return to the ship, multiple Merfolk can surface.
Pirate Emporium
- There is a range of placeholder imagery and text throughout the Pirate Emporium.
- The ‘A Pirate’s Life’ Tab is empty in the Pirate Emporium.
- The Pistol and Eye of Reach emotes are missing weapons on some pirate types when preforming the Victorious Weapon Pose Emotes.
- The Golden Nile Cannon Flare is missing from September’s Pirate Emporium.
- The Golden Nile Lantern can be purchased using gold instead of Ancient Coins.
- The Eye of Reach will rubber band when performing the Eye of Reach Victorious Weapon Pose Emote on some pirate types.
Whispering Text Chat Range
- When using the Speaking Trumpet to whisper, typing in text chat is currently unaffected and will still reach players at the original range. In future Insider builds, text chat range will also be reduced when whispering.
Tunnels of the Damned
- While travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, losing your connection to the game and rejoining may cause visual issues, resulting in migration to the new area to fail and returning you to your starting location.
AZERTY Keyboard Support
- When using an ‘AZERTY’ keyboard layout the ‘1’ and ‘2’ keys don’t function as expected.
Outpost Store
- The Thriving Wild Rose Compass is missing from the equipment store.
Localisation
- There is a range of missing localisation when setting the game language to Turkish.
Game Options
- Both the “Leave Game" and “Exit to Desktop" buttons do not work after playing for a while.
Fixed Issues
General
- Ocean Crawlers can no longer appear and disrupt the Glitterbeard experience.
- Players should now experience recoil when firing a pet/player out of a cannon on a Rowboat.
- When Nautical Narration is enabled, the narration of compasses should no longer happen for players standing nearby and should only happen for the compass of the player who has the setting enabled.
- The Hunter's Call Forager Parrot should now become dirty after being fired out of the cannon.
- The correct audio sound should now be present when digging up a treasure chest.
- No more than 12 Siren should be able to spawn at one time in an area emergently.
Pirate Emporium
- The Cursed Ferryman Ship Bundle and Cursed Ferryman Essential Ship Bundle image has been updated to show what is being sold more accurately - these bundles contain the Cursed Ferryman Sails, not the Collector's Cursed Ferryman Sails.
Tale Tales
- ‘Lord of the Seas’ – Davy Jones should no longer be missing his voice over after the Flying Dutchman is defeated.
Treasure Merfolk
- Players should now be able to take loot back out of the Treasure Merfolk Statues.
Sunken Kingdom
- A range of environment and collision issues have been fixed within the Shrines and Treasuries.
- The Siren windows should now consistently display the opening/closing SFX.
- Selling the Sapphire Breath of the Sea to the Reapers Bones should now give the correct toast and gold value.
- The Emerald Breath of the Sea should now sell for a fixed value to the Reaper’s Bones.
- The correct non-verbal text should now appear when using the non-verbal radial while holding the Coral Skulls.
- When selling Coral Trinkets to the Gold Hoarders the toast should now display the correct names.
- The air giving plants found throughout the Sunken Kingdom should now correctly replenish players breath.
- When fighting AI enemies in the Treasuries there should now be 20 waves instead of 21.
- The icon image for the Coral Collector’s Chest gold collected pop up should now be the correct image.
- Sunken Treasure should now be able to spawn on the exteriors of the Shrines.
- ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ – Island Banners should now only appear when swimming down towards the Shrine.
- *‘Treasury of Secret Wilds’ *– The treasure within the Vault should no longer be floating in the air.
- *‘Treasury of Secret Wilds’ *– The Ocean Crawlers that spawn in the Treasury should no longer be unable to move from their spawn points and should now act as intended.
