Insider Patch Notes 2.2.1.2

Insider Update 2.2.1.2 is now live. The all-new Shrine of the Coral Tomb has emerged in the depths of the Shores of Plenty for you to explore, discovering the secrets and treasure buried within. Don’t forget to also try out the new Whispering Trumpet and discuss the locations of hidden treasure in private!

We will continue to monitor bug reports from this build, so please continue to report any critical bugs you encounter by heading to the Sea of Thieves Support site and letting our Player Support team know.

Sunken Kingdom

Siren Shrines

  • The ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ is now unlocked for Insiders. This Shrine is an ancient tomb, transformed by the Sirens into a grand chamber of offerings to their kingdom and royalty. Explore the lost treasure offerings and uncover the secrets buried within.

In this Insider’s build, all other Siren Shrines and Siren Treasuries are disabled to focus testing on this new Shrine.

Gameplay Improvements

Whispering

  • With the Speaking Trumpet equipped, holding right click on a mouse, or LT on a gamepad will now turn the trumpet around and allow players to whisper when using in-game voice chat.
  • When whispering, the range of proximity chat heard by other crews and chat heard by your own crew will be reduced allowing players to keep their conversations private.

Accessibility

Swimming Upwards

  • Players can now hold down the space bar on keyboard or A on a gamepad to swim directly up when in the water. This keybind is remappable for players to change to their preference.

Ship Compass Narration

  • Nautical Narration has now been extended to support narration of the ship’s compass when “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled.
  • When Nautical Narration is set to ‘One Shot’, when using the ship’s wheel, the player will need to press E on keyboard or Y on a gamepad to narrate the current direction the ship is facing.

AZERTY Keyboard Support

  • When playing with an ‘AZERTY’ keyboard layout, the ‘1’ and ‘2’ keys will now quick swap to the appropriate items.

Updates

Front End Messaging

  • The front end now supports the display of player facing notifications sent from Sea of Thieves Support, used to communicate issues affecting players in the retail build.

Known Issues

Sunken Kingdom

  • The fog effects above the Shrines and Treasuries cuts in and out during normal ocean movements when sailing on a Sloop or when in the water.
  • A majority of the plants that provide air in the Sunken Kingdom locations do not give air.
  • ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ – Island banners appear when sailing towards the location.
  • ‘Shrine of the Coral Tomb’ – There is a range of environment issues within this Shrine.
  • Selling the Sapphire or Emerald Breath of the Sea to the Reaper’s Bones gives the incorrect gold value.

Sunken Treasure Merfolk 

  • When interacting with a Sunken Treasure Statue, players will experience an early version of a tutorial helping guide players through the feature. This tutorial is currently work in progress and not yet ready for Insider testing.
  • When storing treasure with the Sunken Merfolk statues, upon returning to the surface and migrating servers the friendly Merfolk will not be present for crews to collect their treasure.
  • After storing treasure with the Sunken Merfolk statues and using a statue to return to the ship, multiple Merfolk can surface.

Whispering Text Chat Range

  • When using the Speaking Trumpet to whisper, typing in text chat is currently unaffected and will still reach players at the original range. In future Insider’s builds, text chat range will also be reduced when whispering.

Tunnels of the Damned

  • While travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, losing your connection to the game and rejoining may cause visual issues, resulting in migration to the new area to fail and returning you to your starting location.

AZERTY Keyboard Support

  • When using an ‘AZERTY’ keyboard layout the ‘1’ and ‘2’ keys don’t function as expected.

Localisation

  • There is a range of missing localisation when setting the game language to Turkish.

Fixed Issues

General

  • While inside an active Ancient Vault, water pouring from the statues will now always be clearly visible.

Tall Tales – ‘A Pirate’s Life’

  • ‘Captains of the Damned’ – Players should no longer be able to harpoon the Cursed Captain's skull from the top of the tavern door with harpoon in the final chapter.
  • ‘Dark Brethren’ – Voice over for various characters should now play correctly throughout the Tale.
  • ‘Lords of the Sea’ – Voice over for various characters should now play correctly throughout the Tale.
  • ‘Lords of the Sea’ – The intro cutscene should now play as intended when starting the Tale.

Localisation

  • The Collector of Cursed Gems Title description should no longer be missing localisation in non-English languages when viewed in the Vanity Chest.
  • ‘Sunken Pearl’ – The banner that pops up after completing the Silver Blade fight should now have Turkish localisation.
  • ‘Captains of the Damned’ – The 'Raise Lantern to light', 'Light Torch', 'Light Candle' and 'Light Lantern' prompts should no longer be missing in Turkish localisation.

Sunken Kingdom

  • When approaching the Shrines and Treasuries the correct Island revel audio should now play.
  • The Breath of the Sea can now be sold to the Merchant Alliance, Hunters Call and Order of Souls in exchange for gold and reputation.
  • ‘Shrine of Oceans Fortune’ – A range of Journals have been added to the Shrine to be discovered by players.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’, ‘Shrine of Oceans Fortune’ & ‘Shrine of Tribute’ – A range of environment and collision issues have been fixed within the Shrine.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – There is now a chance of crews discovering a Chest of Ancients upon reaching the final room.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – Players should be able to interact with the barrels to get supplies in the water pool switch room.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – In the entrance hall, players should no longer be teleported into the air when walking into some wooden planks on the floor.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – The fires in the final treasure room should no longer sit too high and should be larger in size.
  • ‘The Shrine of Ancient Tears’ – The skeleton should no longer be missing from the skeleton room.
  • ‘The Shrine of Tribute’ – Sirens should no longer despawn, go idle or swim into walls and should now act and attack players as intended.
  • ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – The completion music sting should now play once you complete the final wave of enemies, and the door starts to open.
  • ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – Players should now be able to leave through the external Siren windows once they are activated.
  • ‘Treasury of Secret Wilds’ – The Shrine should no longer pop into view as you swim down towards it.
  • ‘Treasury of Secret Wilds’ – Tridents should now spawn in correct positions and be able to be interacted with.

Sunken Treasure Merfolk

  • There should now be audio when handing an item into the Treasure Merfolk Statue.
