Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life
‘Captains of the Damned’, The Whispering Bayou Improvements
- On entering the Bayou, a new lengthened straight area has been added to help encourage players to feel safe sailing their Ship through the entire length of the Bayou. Some rocks have been added to the outcrop at the end of the first T-Junction to encourage players to stay on their ship sailing through the Bayou.
- Crews uncovering a rowboat in the Bayou will no longer be able to use the rowboat to leave the area and traverse to the next location.
- When the ghostly barrier dissipates, Jack’s Compass will direct players back to their ship encourage players to use it to sail to the next location.
Outpost Cosmetics
Outposts
- The Emerald Sovereign Eyepatch and Sapphire Sovereign Eyepatch have been added to the Outpost Clothing stores locked behind the ‘Master Emerald Curse Breaker’ and ‘Master Sapphire Curse Breaker’ commendations.
Updates
Rowboat Interactions
- To sit in a Rowboat’s passenger seats, players will be prompted by a 'Hold to Sit' instead of 'Press to Sit'. Controlling the oars remains unchanged and is still 'Press to Sit'.
Known Issues
Tall Tales
- ‘A Pirates Life’ - Players are unable to pick up the keys after putting them on barrels near Jack Sparrow's cell.
- ‘The Sunken Pearl’ & ‘Dark Brethren’ – When a door to an encounter is locked and players must wait, it should now display a prompt to tell the player that the door is locked.
- ‘The Sunken Pearl’ & ‘Dark Brethren’ - The Reputation page for these Tales can show them as unlocked, even if you have not reached that Tale.
- ‘A Pirates Life’ & ‘Captains of the Damned’ – The ship map table is not blank and can show debug strings after joining a Tale in progress or rejoining a session.
- ‘Lords of the Sea’ – Dying during the last Phantom wave causes the key to not spawn.
Tunnels of the Damned
- While travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, losing your connection to the game and rejoining may cause visual issues, causing the migration to the new area to fail and return you to your starting location.
- The Megalodon can spawn in the Tunnels of the Damned.
Pet Naming
- Players on Xbox are unable to rename their pets within the Pet Chest.
Fixed Issues
General
- When a crew’s ship is sunk and a mermaid waits to take them to their new location, any crew members re-joining the session or joining in progress will no longer arrive at the mermaid. Joining players will now arrive at their new ship in a distant location.
- Taking damage while charging a heavy sword attack will now cancel the attack and not cause the player to play a heavy attack animation without inflicting damage.
- Catching the sail length of a falling ships mast and attempting to raise it should no longer leave players unable to repair the mast when returned to the upright position.
- The Manifest from the Lost Shipments Voyage should now count as Merchant Alliance loot for various new and existing Trials.
- Vault Keys should no longer disappear when they are picked up while holding the Trident of Dark Tides.
- When new users get to the quick accessibility screen on first launch with narration turned on, it should now read out how to get to other options correctly.
- After repairing the mast with planks, the sounds of the mast being damaged should no longer persist.
Sirens
- Sirens should no longer die invisibly when they are killed in the middle of their teleport ability.
- Sirens should no longer ignore players who sneak up behind them.
- Sirens should no longer appear during Arena contests.
- When players enter their ship during a Siren encounter, the Sirens will lose their target and then re-target to another feasible target such as another player that is in the water.
Ocean Crawlers
- Eelectric Ocean Crawlers should no longer “eel slap” after floating away from their melee target.
The Pirate Games
- Players should now receive their gold rewards when completing any challenge goals in this event.
- The hurling challenge description should now inform players that they need to throw a bucket of sick on an enemy pirate.
- There is now finalised imagery and text within the Events menu.
Tunnels of the Damned
- After passing through the Tunnels of the Damned, the first emote a player uses on arrival at the new location should no longer show them as invisible.
- Whilst in the return journey through the Tunnels of the Damned, the ghost pirates with a map and a shovel will have those items attached to them instead of floating stationary in front of them.

- ‘The Sunken Pearl’ – The Siren Queen’s trident should now dissolve promptly when she dies.
