Insider Patch Notes 2.2.0.14
Insider Update 2.2.0.14 is now live. The Treasury of Sunken Shores is back to be explored and a new Shrine of Ancient Tears has appeared in the depths, but don’t forget your lantern! Add extra defence to your ship while you explore the Shrine below with a new Cannon Rowboat.
We will continue to monitor bug reports from this build, so please continue to report any critical bugs you encounter by heading to the
Sea of Thieves Support site and letting our Player Support team know.
Sunken Kingdom
While the Sunken Kingdom has always existed beneath the waves, the events of ‘A Pirate’s Life’ have stirred the home of the Sirens. For an update from our Lead Designer on the Sunken Kingdom, head to this
Developer Update.
Siren Shrines
- The ‘Shrine of Ancient Tears’ is now unlocked for Insiders. This Shrine is a crossover between two very different worlds, containing ancient ruins that have been enveloped in coral and Siren mystery! Players will need their lanterns held high while exploring these passages – who knows what secrets might be locked away down here?
- The ‘Shrine of Hungering’ and ‘Shrine of Flooded Embrace’ in The Wilds and ‘Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune’ in the Shores of Plenty all remain inactive to focus testing on this new addition.
Siren Treasuries
- The ‘Treasury of the Sunken Shores’ is now active in the Shores of Plenty, allowing crews to reach this mysterious location.
- The number of AI waves in the Treasury has been temporarily lowered and will go back to its intended wave amount in the next build.
Temporary Insiders Server Limits
- As the ‘Shrine of Ancient Tears’ arrives in Insiders, there are a range of known issues that can manifest when multiple crews attempt to progress through the various locations together. In order to reduce the frequency of these issues in early Insider builds, we are again temporarily reducing the maximum number of crews on any given server down to two.
Updates
Cannon Rowboats
- A new explosive addition to rowboats: cannons! Load a cannonball, firebomb, pet or pirate and launch them towards unsuspecting ships and threats across the seas while you are hidden amongst the waves on your rowboat.
- For the purposes of testing, the frequency of discovering a Cannon Rowboat has been increased and is not representative of the intended frequency at release.
Dynamic Resolution on Xbox Series X
- On Xbox Series X consoles, Sea of Thieves will now dynamically scale the resolution in order to maintain a smooth 60 frames-per-second experience during periods of high activity.
Turkish Language Support
- Sea of Thieves *now supports Turkish localisation across the game.***
Accessibility
Player Compass Narration
- Nautical Narration is a feature that allows the player to use the compass and announce direction you are facing in the world when “Let Games Read to Me” is enabled.
- There are three different options: Off, One Shot Narration and Continuous. Off means no narration, One Shot Narration means the compass will narrate the direction your pirate is facing in the world once when you use the compass, and continuous means the compass will narrate the direction your pirate is facing as while the compass is in use, narrating a new direction as you rotate.
Known Issues
Tunnels of the Damned
- While travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, losing your connection to the game and rejoining may cause visual issues, resulting in migration to the new area to fail, returning you to your starting location.
- The Megalodon can spawn in the Tunnels of the Damned.
Sunken Kingdom
- ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – Sirens can attack and pass through the Siren Door.
- ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – Air giving plants are not working or providing air for players.
- ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – Some booty items cannot be picked up in the vault.
- ‘Treasury of Sunken Shores’ – The Treasury will not trigger if more than four people enter the event room.
- ‘Breath of the Sea’ – Cannot be sold to the Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance or Hunter's Call.
- ‘Treasure Merfolk’ – After migration the Treasure Merfolk will not be present.
Treasure Merfolk Tutorial
- Players will see an early version of the tutorial pop-ups guiding you through using the Treasure Merfolk. However, these don't work as intended yet and therefore we're not looking for feedback just yet.
Localisation
- There is a range of missing localisation when setting the game language to Turkish.
