Insider Patch Notes 2.1.1.8

Insider Update 2.1.1.8 is now live! Head out on to the seas to find and battle against fearful Phantoms.

Phantoms

With Phantoms now re-enabled for Insider testing, here’s a recap of the recent changes:

Phantom Spawning

  • While pirates have grown used to finding skeletons lurking across the islands of the Sea of Thieves, crews must now beware! When venturing across the Sea of Thieves, players can now also encounter deadly Phantoms and their fearsome crewmates while scouring the islands.
  • When encountering emergent Phantoms, they now spawn in more representative group sizes dependent on the number of players in the area.

Phantom Balancing

  • Each Phantom ability has been rebalanced, including their frequency, cooldown and damage to ensure a fast-paced fight without overwhelming players.
  • Phantoms move fast and hit hard but they can now be stunned when vulnerable, allowing players to get multiple attacks in before they move again.

Phantom Abilities

  • Following a lunge attack, Phantoms are now vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
  • Phantoms disorientating players during a teleport charge will now pause for longer as they approach, allowing players to stagger them and engage.

Phantom Effects

  • Phantoms now have a clearer set of visual and audio effects, allowing players to better identify the cues to gain the upper hand.
  • We have improved the Phantom visual effects during certain times of the day to reduce flashing and strobing scenarios as potential photosensitivity triggers.
  • Players unaware of Phantoms will now hear a ghostly whisper effect around them – watch your back!

Updates

*Ship Spawning *

  • Ships on Golden Sands, Sanctuary, Ancient Spire and Morrow's Peak Outposts should now spawn closer to the dock, meaning players should no longer need to swim to reach their ship.

Known Issues

Single-Handed Animations

  • When holding single-handed objects such as treasure, food or equipment, the item can rotate upside down after a short period of time.

Combat

  • Ranged weapon reload animations can currently be skipped allowing players to fire faster than intended.

Trident of Dark Tides

  • When someone is jumping while aiming or charging the Trident, other players will see them jump without animating.

Front End Loading

  • Due to a change in asset loading, the artwork in the front-end menu will now load slowly in Insiders.

Fixed Issues

General

  • When enabling Auto-Move in the Accessibility Settings, interacting with a Capstan should now function correctly.
  • ‘Stars of a Thief’ - During the Tall Tale, performing the "Slippery spyglass" emote with the ancient spyglass should no longer cause the spyglass to intersect with the Player's head.
  • Onscreen visual effects should now display correctly each time they are applied.

Lost Shipments Voyage

  • When reaching rank 75 with the Merchant Alliance and undertaking a Lost Shipments Voyage, the first clue site should now appear alongside floating barrels.
  • After migrating across servers, players should be able to unlock a shipwreck's cabin door if they have collected the key.

Map Migration Technical Test

  • A player’s ship should no longer appear doubled up or damage itself after entering a portal.
  • Improved client stability when using the Ashen Wind Skull while travelling through a portal.

Tridents of the Dark Tides

  • When using a controller, dropping the Trident while holding down the fire button should no longer cause the controller to continue vibrating.

Phantoms

  • Phantoms should now be spawning emergently.
  • Phantoms should no longer stay invisible after teleporting.

Flags of Friendship

  • There should now be toast notifications shown when rewards are unlocked.

Sirens

  • When encountering Sirens, the gems within their chest should now appear with their visual effects.
  • Siren leaders should no longer be able to be interrupted when performing their Trident combo.
