Insider Patch Notes 2.1.0.2
Insider Update 2.1.0.2 is now live! Head to the Pirate Emporium and check out the new items available before heading out to the seas to fight off Sirens, find Tridents or grab the Tale Book from the Tavern and sail through the mysterious portals.

Map Migration Technical Test
This Insider build introduces an early technical test of a new system: Map Migration. Opening the Portal
- To test out this new system, a Test Tale Book has been placed on a table in the Tavern at every Outpost.
- Vote to begin this test and players will see a portal appear at the closest sea rock structure.
Migration
- Sail through the active portal to lead your crew to a new world on a new server. In this technical test, crews will arrive at Old Sailor’s Isle (the Maiden Voyage island) where they are free to explore.
- To return you to the wider world, find the return portal back to the Sea of Thieves. Here, your Voyage will be automatically completed.
Sirens
Keep a keen ear out for their eerie song and prepare yourselves. For an update from our Creative Director, head to this

Sirens Balancing
- Sirens no longer use their dashing Disorientate ability whilst they are on the water surface.
- Sirens now have improved targeting when locking onto players in the water.
- Encountering a Siren while swimming, players will now find Sirens more aggressive during combat.
Siren Rewards
- Defeating a Siren now has a chance to drop their ‘Siren Gem’ which can be returned to a Trading Company Representative for Reputation.
- Sirens have a chance to drop Sapphire gems, whilst Siren Leaders have a chance to drop Emerald Siren Gems that are higher in value.
Trident of Dark Tides Spawning
- The powerful Trident of the Dark Tides can now be found washed up on beaches, sunken just off the shores of islands, dropped after defeating a Megalodon, Kraken and Skeleton ships and locked away inside Skeleton Fort Vaults.
Trident of Dark Tides Effects
- When charging and firing the Trident, the visual effects are now improved.
- A dropped Trident now has a glint when viewed from a distance.
Trident of Dark Tides
- When using the Trident’s various bubble sizes to attack opponents, the weapon now has improved Hit Registration against a range of foes.
Pirate Emporium
Shining Pegasus Ship Collection
- Enrich your ship with the new Shining Pegasus Ship Collection, complete with a radiant Collector’s Figurehead and gleaming Collector’s Sails!
- A Shining Pegasus Essential Ship Bundle is also on offer, including the core ship cosmetics at a lower price.
Valiant Weapon Pose Emote Bundle
- Strike a heroic pose and show off the weapon you have equipped with these Valiant Weapon poses!
Freebie Dodgy Deal Emote
- Keep your dealings under the table with this free Dodgy Deal Emote.
Wind and Weapon Pose Bundle (Store Only)
- Available only from the Xbox, Microsoft and Steam Stores, this bundle contains the Collector’s Shining Pegasus Figurehead and Valiant Weapon Pose Emotes, along with 1000 Ancient Coins and a 25,000 gold bonus for use in the Outpost shops.
Updates
Azure Ocean Crawler Set
- The Outpost shipwrights, along with the clothing, equipment and weapon shops, now offer the Azure Ocean Crawler set for purchase. Players must obtain the Hunter of Trophy Fish Commendation to unlock access to this set.
Blackcoat Executive Admiral Set
- The Outpost clothing shops now stock the Blackcoat Executive Admiral clothing set, available to purchase for gold.
Known Issues
Map Migration Test
- A player who Joins In Progress will see a red sky and no vignettes during the portal transition.
- Players are unable to interact with another crew's ship once returned from a portal transition.
Larinna and Outpost Shops
- Larinna’s Black Market Archive items are present both at Larinna's Black Market and corresponding shops.
Fort of Fortune
- Loot is missing from the Vault of the Lost Gold Fort when it activates as a Fort of Fortune.
Resource & Commodity Crates
- When a crew have an active Merchant Voyage which requires collecting an item from a Merchant Representative, they become unable to retrieve a purchased Resource or Commodity Crate.
- If a player purchases a crate and then leaves game the other crew members will not be able to redeem those crates.
- The Unclassified Gemstones and Ungraded Tea Crates will be named incorrectly in the Merchant Manifest and when collecting from the Merchant Representative.
Particle Effects
- Various visual effects are missing trails, including Volcano rocks and Ashen Lord Attacks.
Pirate Emporium
- There is a range of placeholder artwork within the Pirate Emporium.
Fixed Issues
General
- The Reaper's Chest beacon should no longer be visible below the chest and should be in the correct place when using a ladder.
- Players should no longer get a pick-up interaction with non-localised text when looking at the top of the vault totems.
- The ability to change game language is no longer present within the Xbox settings page.
- Performing the Barrel Disguise emote when in large groups of players should no longer cause the player to appear invisible for some players in the vicinity.
Sirens
- Dying to a Siren attack will now correctly award the blue Flame of Fate when returning to the Ferry of the Damned.
Pirate Emporium
- Purchasing the Essential Dark Warsmith Ship Bundle should now grant the Player the regular Sails instead of the Collector ones.
Emissary Ledger Rewards
- The Reapers Bones ledger reward for Bronze Tier has been updated to the correct title.
