The latest Insider build is here! We’ve got new features, new fixes and new things for you to test. Full patch notes are below. Enjoy!

Insider Patch Notes - Update 2.0.8.4

Insider Update 2.0.8.4 is now live! With our newly renamed ‘Ashen Treasures’ event reaching Insiders for the first time in our previous build, the team have been busy fixing up issues and balancing the encounters. With a range of bug fixing and improvements across Ashen Treasures, The Seabound Soul and fire; grab a Mercenary Voyage from Stitcher and head out there to cause some havoc!

The Seabound Soul

  • The Seabound Soul Achievements – Xbox Achievements have been added from progressing through The Seabound Soul in-game Commendations. A total of 40 Gamerscore is available to earn from this update and these Achievements will persist in the game for future updates.

Ashen Treasures

  • Skeleton Ship Battle Rewards – Fighting back against the firebomb-wielding Skeleton Ships and taking them down, now yields greater rewards with an additional Ashen Chest!
  • Ashen Treasures Achievements – A range of Xbox Achievements have been added from unlocking in-game Commendations. A total of 35 Gamerscore is available to earn from this update and these Achievements will persist in the game for future updates.

While Insiders are unable to unlock these achievements in the Insider Build of the game, we’re including them here for visibility on the update!

Fire

  • Feeling Hungry? – Snakes, pigs & chickens killed with firebombs will now drop cooked or burned meat. Animals unlucky enough to be caged on a burning ship will also drop cooked or burnt meat when killed.
  • Scared of Fire! – Pet’s clearly don’t appreciate feeling hot under the collar, whether your ship is on fire or under the effects of a rogue firebomb, your companion will now flee for safety!

Pirate Emporium

  • Emporium Navigation – The Emporium categories can now be navigated by moving through the individual items allowing the movement to the next category when reaching the end. A styling pass across the UI navigation also ensures selected categories are clear from the top navigation bar.
  • Showing/Hiding Descriptions – When navigating through the Pirate Emporium, text descriptions will now only show for items that are selected giving more screen space for imagery.

The Arena

  • Sea Dog Commendations Rewards – There is a new wave of commendations entering the glorious Sea Dogs Company. These commendations are harder to earn than the previous commendations and provide you with the new Triumphant Sea Dog Cosmetics. Check them out in the reputation tab inside of the Sea Dogs company.

Fixed Issues

General

  • Hitting the environment with a sword strike will now correctly delay the player from striking again for the full cooldown.
  • NPC’s heads will no longer spin round when players move behind them.
  • Emergent Skeletons drop loot once again!
  • The ship wheel, mast and capstan now consistently display damage VFX and SFX when taking damage.
  • Players should no longer become stuck next to a tree on Smuggler’s Bay.
  • Areas of invisible collision should no longer be found around the ship affecting cannonballs, thrown firebombs and Harpoons.
  • Handing in a Reaper’s Chest will no longer reference Duke!

Arena

  • Applying ship customisation within the Arena tavern will more consistently apply these ship cosmetics when reaching your ship.

‘The Seabound Soul’

  • Dying or taking a mermaid while in possession of a lost soul no longer prevents further progression through the tale.
  • Losing a Randall’s Skull will now correctly fail the Tale.
  • The Voting Dagger positions now correctly match the position of the Tale Quest Book.
  • The ‘Ashen Artefacts’ commendation now correctly unlocks when finding all 3 artefacts.
  • The dialogue headings should no longer spoil a critical plot point in the Tale.
  • Ambient skeletons no longer spawn while progressing through the Seabound Soul Tale 
  • Resolved typos inside the Tale Quest Book.
  • Cutscene animations, subtitles and voice overs now play consistently when starting and ending the tale.
  • Players should once again be rewarded Pendragon’s Sword of Souls on the completion of the Tale Commendation.
  • Following the Ashen Dragon ship, players should no longer see the ship riding high in the water in various sequences.
  • Pendragon’s ‘beckon’ animation should no longer play repeatedly after handing him the Skull.
  • Randal's skull no longer appears late during the soul release cutscene.
  • The Ancient skull is no longer invisible during the soul release cutscene.
  • Failing the Seabound Soul Tale will now correctly notify players why they have failed.
  • During Martha’s soul release cutscene, Pendragon's sword no longer stays attached to his hand.
  • The Ashen Lord found on Flintlock Peninsula no longer shows as a non-ghost model when first raising your lantern.
  • Martha and Randal’s Skulls no longer have glowing eyes and Martha’s skull looks worn as if it’s been underwater for a long time. 
  • Resolved an issue causing a mouse curser to linger onscreen when switching from mouse & keyboard to controller.
  • The Tall Tale voting card artwork has now been replaced with final artwork.

Ashen Treasures

  • The ‘Ritual Skull Stash Voyage’ has been returned to the Black Market store after being erroneously removed.
  • Placeholder text for Ashen Cosmetics replaced with final text.
  • Placeholder text for Mercenary Voyages replaced with final text.
  • Placeholder text for Black Market Cosmetics replaced with final text.
  • Placeholder text for Ashen Treasures Commendations replaced with final text.
  • Players should be able to interact with Duke’s note from all directions.
  • Placeholder text for Dukes’ Note replaced with final text.
  • Non-verbal phrases for Ashen Key now refer to the correct Key.
  • Placing an Ashen Key inside an Ashen chest it will no longer float around as the player moves
  • Stitcher Jim will now be present on all Outpost Taverns, including Morrows Peak Outpost
  • Mercenary Voyages offered by Stitcher now have the correct shop icon.
  • Emergent Skeleton Ships no longer have the potential to fire Firebombs, this now reserved for the Skeleton Ship Battles, delivering the Ashen rewards.
  • Commendations for opening Ashen Chests now correctly progress when opening.
  • Selling an Ashen Key to Stitcher Jim, crews will now be awarded 10 doubloons instead of 20 
  • Ashen Tomes no longer play bounty skull whispering SFX.
  • Ashen Tomes now have appropriate non-verbal phrases.
  • The Wild Rose Eye of Reach no longer fires like a blunderbuss – whoops!

Fire

  • Fire VFX on a lit bowsprit are now angled correctly.
  • Fire VFX on the front and back of skeleton galleons will no longer disappear when approaching.
  • Fire VFX on a sinking ship, the light source will now go out instantly. 
  • Firebombs now consistently set alight campfires.
  • Using the water barrel no longer causes splash VFX to appear above the player's head.
  • Fire VFX in first person will now smoothly fade when becoming extinguished.
  • Steam VFX will now smoothly fade when becoming extinguished.

Pets

  • Dirty pets can now be cleaned with a bucket of water when below deck.
  • Pets will react accordingly to all newly released Emporium emotes.

Fort of the Damned

  • Resolved issues in several locations which caused the Ghost of Greymarrow could become stuck inside the environment on the Fort of the Damned.

Pirate Emporium

  • Emotes in the Preview Pane of the Emporium and Vanity Chest are now presented as they appear on your equipped pirate, reducing scenarios where the Preview showed Pirates hands in the incorrect locations.
  • Equipping a Cockatoo with the Sovereign outfit will no longer become invisible.
  • Equipping a Cockatoo with the Sea Dog outfit will no longer cause the Cockatoo to lose its eye texture.
  • Skeleton Marmoset and Skeleton Cockatoo no longer show the ability to equip an outfit but be unable to wear them.
  • Purchasing the Festival of Plenty Bundle, players will now correctly receive the Hurdy Gurdy of Plenty.
  • Using the Vanity Chest to equip an emote now acts consistently when interacting with the vanity chest for the first time during your session.
  • When using the Vanity Chest to equip an emote, you can now access all slots using the mouse.
  • The Outpost Emporiums have replaced their animals with November’s new additions.

Known Issues

  • Stuck Hand Animations detaching from Ship Interaction Points - When undocking from the ship’s wheel and capstan, the players hands will become stuck in a fixed position. Wielding an item will resolve this.
  • Ashen Treasures Commendations – The newly renamed ‘Ashen Treasures’ section in the Bilge Rats Reputation page contains a range of Commendations which are currently not progressing from in game actions. Please do not provide feedback on these Commendations in this Insider build.
  • Pirate Emporium Placeholders – With the November’s Pirate Emporium in an early stage of development, many items still have placeholder imagery. Please do not provide feedback on placeholder imagery in this Insiders build.
  • Pirate Emporium Festival of Plenty Outfits – To much disappointment, the Festival of Plenty pet outfits do not currently show on pets when equipped. While Insiders can purchase these items, they will not become equip able until a future Insider build. Please do not provide feedback on the Festival of Plenty pet outfits in this Insiders build.
  • Cosmetics Saving across Sessions – Players’ loadouts are currently not persisting between sessions.
  • ‘Sailor of the Shores of Gold’ Title not awarded – Some players may find that after completing the ‘Seeker of Grand Adventure’ Commendation the ‘Sailor of the Shores of Gold’ title is not awarded.
