Insider Patch Notes 2.0.7.8

The latest Insider build is here! We’ve got new features, new fixes and new things for you to test. Full patch notes are below. Enjoy!

Insider Patch Notes - Update 2.0.7.8

Insider Update 2.0.7.8 is now live! With final bug fixing and balancing coming to an end, this is our current Fort of the Damned release candidate. We are also continuing to work on the Known Issues called out in the Patch Notes and plan to have these resolved prior to us releasing to Retail next week.

As this is our last Insider release before rolling Fort of the Damned out to our wider audience next week, please jump in and help us ensure our release is stable. Please play all areas of the game as you would in Retail to help give us the best coverage. If you haven’t tried out the challenging Fort of the Damned encounter itself, grab yourself a Ritual Skull, collect the Flames of Fate and head to the Fort!

For those wondering where fire and Tall Tales: The Seabound Soul have gone, these are not scheduled for release in October therefore will return to Insider testing once our Fort of the Damned update is ready for retail release.

If you do encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Fort of the Damned

  • Ferryman Statue Colour Blind Accessibility – Grates have now had a further polish pass, adding a range of grasping hands in addition to a light to the active grates. It should now be much clearer which lights need to be retrieved to take on each wave of the Shadows of Fate.
  • Selling Ritual Skulls for Reputation – As Ritual Skulls can now be found abundantly across the world, we’ve removed the ability for players to cash these in at the Order of Souls and Mysterious Stranger for Reputation. These can still be handed in to Duke for Doubloons!
  • Lightning Balancing – Following feedback we’ve increased the chance for lightning to strike while inside a Storm, in addition to wielding a cutlass to direct the strike to your player – this update will be pretty perilous inside a storm!

Updates

  • Picking up your Pet – When selecting your Pet from the Pet Chest located on your Ship or at an Outpost, they will now instinctively jump onto your arm so you can see them!
  • Cursed Chest Pay-out – The Chest of Sorrow and the Chest of a Thousand Grogs are now worth more significantly more Gold and Reputation when handed in!
  • Raining on your Cargo – Improvements have been made to how cargo responds to rain in a range of environments. Cargo Run plant and silk crates should now only become wet from Rain when players can see the rain on their screen.

Fixed Issues

General

  • Players should no longer find themselves spawning on the ‘Shores of Gold’ when attempting to take a mermaid to return to their ship.
  • Performing a sword lunge into water will no longer play the lunge animation twice.
  • Improved skeleton navigation and prevented skeletons becoming stuck on Hidden Spring Keep.
  • Improved cliff face collision at the beginning of the Sea Dogs Challenge route.
  • Ensuring health regen is paused by the player taking damage. Eating cooked food while taking damage over time will no longer cancel out the damage over time.
  • Selling a snake to the Merchant Alliance now correctly removes the snake audio effects from the world.
  • Revised lighting pass across a range of lanterns to ensure they are not too bright.
  • Players are no longer able to become stuck underneath a stairway in the External Sea Dogs Tavern.
  • Players are no longer able to become stuck near a tree on Smuggler’s Bay
  • Revised the colour palette of the Sea Dogs Ship Set to ensure the colours match between sail and hull.

Pets

  • Pets placed into a perch spot by someone other than their owner, will no longer stay put in that spot indefinitely.

Fort of the Damned

  • After activating the Fort of the Damned, players will now hear the correct audio during the encounter. Players will hear the music change when Graymarrow spawns, and no longer hear Fort approach music when sailing towards the island.
  • Graymarrow will no longer regenerate to full health if all players have been vanquished on the Fort of the Damned and they despawn.
  • Graymarrow will no longer fail to respawn if all players have been vanquished on the Fort of the Damned while other players are returning from the Ferry of the Damned.
  • Fort Complete Commendations are now correctly awarded to crew members who are on the Ferry of the Damned.
  • Players can correctly retrieve a Flame of Fate with a raised lantern when coming out of sprint.
  • Players who are inside the Fort Vault when the Fort is reactivated are now teleported back to safety as the doors close.
  • Wielding the Lantern of the Damned, the Lantern light now projects forward illuminating your way.
  • Players can no longer clip through the staircase and become stuck on Fort of the Damned.
  • The ‘Facepaint of the Damned’ has had its unlock criteria corrected to require the ‘Summoning the Damned’ Commendation for activating the Fort of the Damned.

Known Issues

  • Fort Completion Commendations – There are a range of Commendations for completing the Fort of the Damned multiple times; ‘Defeating the Damned’, ‘Banishing the Damned’, ‘Vanquishing the Damned’ and ‘Conquering the Damned’. Currently progress in these commendations is awarded to the crew who used the Fort of the Damned Key to open the vault and only that crew. This implementation will be improved to give credit to crews and alliances working together to take down this challenging encounter. Progress through these Commendations will soon be awarded to all crews who are present on the Fort of the Damned when the Vault is opened.
  • Cosmetics Saving across Sessions – Players loadouts are currently not persisting between sessions.
  • ‘Sailor of the Shores of Gold’ Title not awarded – Some players may find that after completing the ‘Seeker of Grand Adventure’ Commendation the ‘Sailor of the Shores of Gold’ title is not awarded.
