Insider Patch Notes - Update 2.0.7.5

Insider Update 2.0.7.5 is now live! As we home in on our Fort of the Damned update, this continues to be our focus for Insiders in this build alongside the reopening of the Pirate Emporium! After taking on the Fort, those looking for a more relaxed session should head to Shipwreck Bay for a sneaky peak of an up and coming Tall Tale; The Seabound Soul!

If you do encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Fort of the Damned

  • Ferryman of the Damned Rewards – The missing ‘Jacket of the Damned’ has now been added to the Outpost clothing stores. Players will need to earn to ‘Banishing the Damned’ Commendation in order to unlock it!
  • Fort of the Damned Skeleton Spawning – Shadows of Fate can now spawn in and around the Fort of the Damned, you no longer know where they are coming from…
  • Fort of the Damned Skeleton Waves – In our first step to improve the accessibility of the Fort of the Damned for colour blind players, Shadow of Fate waves now comprise of less mixed groups that use similar colours for vulnerability.
  • Text Updates – Commendations and Voyage descriptions have all had a text pass for corrections and consistency.

Pirate Emporium

The Pirate Emporium has now been restocked with rare goods freshly smuggled into the Sea of Thieves. We’ve got some exciting new items on sale, so head to the Pirate Emporium from the Sea of Thieves main menu before jumping into the game, or at an Outpost via the new store opened above the Order of Souls tent.

  • Skeleton Animals! – What better way to explore the eerie Fort of the Damned, than with a Skeleton Cockatoo or Skeleton Marmoset perched on your arm. These special skeleton animals are time-limited for the Fort of the Damned Update, grab them before they return to the Sea of the Damned!
  • Bilge Rat Pet Outfits – Each pet has been decked out in a rag-tag outfit, worthy of the ‘Bilge Rat’ moniker. Go to the Pets section of the Pirate Emporium to purchase an outfit before heading to the Pet Chest to equip it.
  • Cutthroat Ship Collection – Prepare for a supreme victory! Fans of Killer Instinct will recognise the sight of Fulgore spearheading the new ‘Cutthroat Ship Collection’. Pick up the individual Cutthroat ship items or the Collector’s Figurehead and Sails for the ultra-combo. A Cutthroat Ship Bundle is also on offer which includes all the regular ship cosmetics at a nice discount!
  • Taunt Emote Bundle – Feel the need to throw some shade at your rivals? Pick up the Taunt Emote Bundle for a range of combative emotes to ensure they know who they are dealing with!
  • Emote Variety Bundle – A range of new emotes have been added for the Variety Pack 2 bundle, give that crewmate the ‘Slow Clap’ for that awful parking Job or rage at your opponent with ‘Angry Fist’ as they sail off with your treasure-laden rowboat.
  • Emote & Ship Tabs – With our Emote & Ship Collections growing, new tabs have been added to the top bar of the Emporium to allow quick navigation between sections.

Seabound Soul

This build introduces a very early version of our next Tall Tale for Insider testing; ‘The Seabound Soul’. Journey to the wreck of the Blackwyche on Shipwreck Bay and find the Captain’s Journal and begin the story.

This Tall Tale is in a very early state of Development, including some placeholder artwork, audio and effects. The Tale cutscenes are also not functioning as intended, so head to the Feedback thread to read the cutscene Intro to give yourselves a head start!

  • Tall Tales: The Seabound Soul – The crumbling remains of a once-proud galleon, the Blackwyche, give Shipwreck Bay its name. Now a ghostly voice calls out from the wreckage. Journey to Shipwreck Bay and seek the Captain’s journal in the heart of the Blackwyche to uncover a secret history of binding and betrayal…

Fire

  • Douse yourself! – Players now have a secondary action on the bucket enabling them to tip a full bucket of water over themselves to put out a fire!
  • Wet Pirates – Players doused in water will now appear wet through!
  • Dousing Fire VFX – Implemented a revised effect for putting out a fire with water.

Fixed Issues

General

  • Players can no longer ‘prime’ a weapon enabling them to perform a double shot with dual guns.
  • ‘Seeker of Tales’ Commendation description revised to better match unlock criteria

Fort of the Damned

  • ‘Banishing the Damned’ Commendation will now correctly trigger on completing the fort.

  • ‘Summoning of the Damned’ Commendation will now correctly trigger on starting the fort.

  • Added missing localisation to Duke’s dialog and shop UI.

  • Selling a Ritual Skull to Duke now displays the correct toast notification and Doubloon rewards.

  • Standing by the Ritual Altar Cage in the Fort of the Damned no longer shows an incorrect lighting zone.

  • Corrected Typo in Bilge Rat Stash Voyage.

  • Regular skeletons should no longer spawn during the Fort of the Damned encounter, when players are returning to the island after activation.

Fire

  • Performing an Emote while on Fire, you will now see Fire VFX on your emoting pirate
  • A rogue water splash effect should no longer play every time a player gets wet.

Pets

  • When another player feeds your pet, they now animate correctly.

Known Issues

  • Colour-blind Accessibility – We are working on improvements to the colour-blind accessibility of the Fort of the Damned, to ensure all players can confidently take on the encounter without such a heavy reliance on recognising colour.
  • Ritual Skull Hand-In – The Ritual Skull can currently be handed in by non-Pirate Legends for Athena’s Fortune reputation.
  • Taking the Flame – Players are sometimes unable to ‘Take’ the flame from the Ferryman’s Statue without lowering and re-raising their lantern.
  • Quick Item Switch – Tapping the left bumper or Q should switch back to the previously selected item from that radial. An issue has been identified causing this to not function during combat.
  • Shadows of Fate Skeletons Vulnerability Effects – When using the appropriate Flame of Fate on a Shadow Skeleton, they often retain their ‘invulnerable’ effects even while they’re able to be damaged.
  • Ferryman Statue Effects – The lights used inside the Ferryman’s Statues do not match the player lantern and skeleton colours, causing potential confusion as to which colour to use.
  • Sword Hitting the Environment – Swinging a sword and hitting the environment no longer triggers the full cooldown time before allowing players to swing again.
  • Cosmetics Saving across Sessions – Players loadouts are currently not persisting between sessions.
  • Tall Tales Commendations Showing as Incomplete – Some players may find that after completing Shores of Gold Commendations and receiving their rewards, the Commendation still shows as incomplete.
