Insider Patch Notes - Update 2.0.4.3
Insider Update 2.0.4.3 is now live! This update brings several key bug fixes to our previously released features. Black Powder Stashes remains our focus for this release, and we are now limiting changes as we begin to prepare for our release later in July. Visit Duke in your local Outpost Tavern to begin your voyage!
As a reminder to anyone who may have missed the news, from July 6th (09:00 BST) to July 7th (23:59 BST) we’ll be holding an Arena Rewards Weekend, where Insiders can earn Doubloons by simply battling it out in Arena contests! See Producer Jason Cross’
post on the Forums for more details.

Updates
- Hunter's Call Rewards – We've listened to the feedback and whilst rewards are still increased compared to the general release version of Sea of Thieves, they have been reduced from previous Insider builds. The rewards for meat however remain unchanged.
- Eye of Reach Skeletons – Players will now only encounter Eye of Reach wielding skeletons manning certain posts on a Skeleton Ship. These skeletons no longer spawn on islands or during encounters.
- Spyglass Look Sensitivity – Players can now configure sensitivity when looking through the spyglass. Head to the Gameplay Settings menu to find the new slider.
- ‘Let Games Read to Me’ Message Priority – When triggering multiple narration messages, there is now a hierarchy to manage the order in which narration messages are played. Narration of server messages takes priority and pause any current message, playing immediately and queuing up subsequent messages. Narration of UI messages is second in priority and will play if no other message is currently playing. UI messages will not queue and will override a currently playing message. Player chat messages are third priority and will only play if no other message is currently playing.
- ‘Let Games Read to Me’ Player Chat Messages – The first chat message from a player will begin with "[Gamertag] says", with any consecutive messages from that player dropping the “[Gamertag] says” so that multiple messages will be read out as if they were part of one larger message. As soon as there is a break in speech however, the player’s gamertag will be read out again at the start of the next message.
Fixed Issues
> **
**General
- Using a Gunpowder Keg to destroy a Skeleton Ship will now correctly count towards Skeleton Ship Commendations.
- Resolved an issue allowing players to sprint while changing weapons in order to fire two shots in quick succession when wielding two guns.
- When approaching an NPC, they will once again react to the presence of the player.
- Pirate Hideout audio reveal now plays at the correct location at Golden Sands Outpost.
- Various visual bug fixes across the following islands - Marauders Arch, Old Faithful Isle, Plunder Valley and Crescent Isle.
- The Legendary Flintlock now sits correctly in the player’s hand and aligns with the target when aiming.
- When ‘Let Games Read to Me’ and ‘Speech-To-Text’ are both enabled, transcribed messages will not be read out by ‘Let Games Read to Me’ because that message was already spoken across voice chat.
- The description for the ‘Athena’s Voyager’ Title now correctly identifies the unlock criteria.
Black Powder Stashes
- Removed duplicate loading screens and placeholder imagery.
- Players are now consistently able to pick-up washed-up Mermaid Gems found on beaches.
- Players will no longer progress the ‘Black Powder Merchant’ Commendation while on a Black Powder Mercenary voyage.
- Purchasing an item that costs Doubloons now shows the correct icon for Doubloons on the purchase confirmation graphic.
Tall Tales - Shores of Gold
- ‘Shores of Gold’ - Players can no longer become snagged and stuck moving around inside the Compass Vault on Shores of Gold.
Known Issues
- Tall Tales – Due to potential crash issues, all Tall Tales have been disabled from Insider testing in this build.
- Speech to Text Accessibility – When communicating from PC to Xbox with Speech to Text enabled, the receiving player will be unable to hear the message.
- ‘Stars of a Thief’ Totem – after placing the Star Jewels in the statue to retrieve the totem, leaving the area and returning will cause the statue to close and the totem to be lost.
