Insider Patch Notes - Update 2.0.3.3

Insider Update 2.0.3.3 is now live, introducing more quality of live improvements, fixes and some ground work for a a new initiative the team has been working on!

Updates

• ‘Shroudbreaker’ Ship’s Log – To improve initial discoverability for the Magpie’s Wing ship’s log, players will now find a more detailed map of the sunken ship location in their Quest Book at the start of the Tale. Other potentially confusing island/region references have also been removed. The ship’s log itself is now placed in the centre of the room on the captain’s chair.
• *‘Shroudbreaker’ Tavern Tale Book *– To reduce player frustration when accidentally starting the Shroudbreaker Tale inside the tavern, this area surrounding the Tall Tale Voting Book has now been redressed in all taverns and the barrel removed.
• ‘Creator Crew’ Reputation Page – The Creator Crew Reputation page visible in previous Insider builds has now been hidden from view. To unlock this page in the future, players will be required to sign up to the programme on the Sea of Thieves website (coming soon) in order to progress through these challenges. We’ll share more on the Creator Crew soon!
• Hunter’s Call & Sea Dogs Letters of Recommendation – Duke now offers Letters of Recommendation for both the Hunter’s Call and Sea Dog’s trading companies for players to purchase with Doubloons.

• Improved Kill Contribution for Kraken & Megalodon encounters – We’ve made improvements to how we track participation for players and crews engaging in both Kraken and Megalodon encounters out in the world. Players and their Crews will now find that if they damage the beast, they are now provided Kill Credit even if they have subsequently left the encounter such as the edge of the Kraken’s Murk or even ending up on the Ferry of the Damned. Players will find that unlocking commendation progress for winning these encounters is now much more consistent. 

• Improvements to ‘Let Games Read to Me’ – Once ‘Let Games Read to Me’ is enabled in the Xbox settings, text messages and pirate chat messages sent from players will be read out. To learn more about ‘Let Games Read to Me’ head to our Accessibility Guide.

• Reputation Page Loading Spinner – The Reputation Page now displays a loading spinner as the tabs become available.

Fixed Issues

General

• Audio should now consistently play across the whole game as intended. If you encounter any missing audio on this build please raise support tickets as normal.

• Disconnecting & reconnecting audio devices on Win10 no longer causes audio to stop playing.

• The top food barrel on the Brigantine is once again interactable. We apologise for the temporary cross contamination...

• Players can no longer see through some areas of the walls and ceiling in Devil’s Ridge cave areas. 

• Players can once again interact with their ship’s grog barrel after server migration.

• The wooden parts of the Merchant Alliance Outpost structures no longer move with the wind.

• Players reaching the limits of the Devil’s Shroud should no longer find themselves becoming stuck in server migration.

• Approaching an Order of Souls NPC wielding an item should no longer see the item float into a different position

• Players should no longer find missing textures inside the Pirate Legend Hideout tunnels underneath Ancient Spire Outpost.

• Players will no longer see an unequipped title alongside their gamertag in the top corner of menu UI.

• The ‘What’s New’ Section on the Front End has been optimised and now loads images much quicker.

• Player inventory limits will now be correctly displayed when players are on the Ferry of the Damned or inside the Arena Tavern.

• Players will no longer be identified by gender when speaking to Tristan in the Sea Dog’s Tavern.

The Hunter’s Call

• Players should no longer find themselves able to swim into the air after fishing in island pools. we all must grow old at some point, Peter…

• Players are no longer able to walk underwater on Tribute Peak while holding the fishing rod.

Tall Tales - Shores of Gold

• Puzzle Vault braziers can no longer be re-lit with a lantern once they have been extinguished by rising water inside an active vault.

• Players will no longer see a placeholder checkerboard texture on the Quest Book when rapidly sprinting and stopping while reading.

• Skeleton Captains and Lords that use combat dialogue should now correctly stop speaking/screaming/wailing once they are defeated.

• ‘Shroudbreaker’ – Players should no longer find duplicated Vault medallions if their crew migrate servers while in the process of collecting the medallions for the Vault.

• ‘Stars of a Thief’ – Players should now find the Reef Monument Statue accepts both Star Gems and progresses the Tale even if a crew has migrated while collecting Star Gems previously.

Known Issues

• Items floating to the roof – Dropping any item near the underwater entrance to the uncharted reef caves will cause the item to float to the ceiling and become irretrievable.

• ‘Stars of a Thief’ Totem – After placing the Star Jewels in the statue to retrieve the totem, leaving the area and returning will cause the statue to close and the totem to be lost.

• Sea Dogs Tavern Purchase Delays – Players who purchase an item from the Sea Dog Tavern shop shortly before migrating to a new server will not immediately see the purchase in their inventory. The purchase has been successful but will only be shown when the player returns to the tavern after their next contest.
