Insider Patch Notes 2.0.18.8

Insider Update 2.0.18.8 is now live! With a new ‘Events tab’ available to track your progress through Sea of Thieves events, chat to Larinna before heading out into the Shores of Plenty to find the green and purple Shadows of Fate roaming the islands.

With this latest Insider build update, we need to wipe progression across all player accounts. However, when you join the game your experience will be boosted across several of the Trading Companies, and receive a fresh supply of gold, Doubloons and Ancient Coins.

If you encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

Fate of the Damned

This Insiders build continues to introduce work in progress elements for the Fate of the Damned feature set. For more context on this update, check out the recent Developer Update along with this build’s Feedback thread for where to direct your testing!

Fate of the Damned Voyages

  • Larinna’s Black Market now has a new tab, complete with all Fate of the Damned cosmetic rewards unlocked through completing Challenges of the Damned.
  • While on the Merrick Voyage, Shadows of Fate will no longer be present on the island and instead players will need to pick up the item found in the deceased pirate’s hand. Upon picking up the item, the player will now be ambushed by Shadows of Fate but engaging them is optional.
  • New braziers have been added to the Graymarrow fight, however they are still currently placeholder.

NPC Dialog

  • When talking to certain NPC’s, their responses will now reflect the current stage of the Fate of the Damned campaign.
  • For this Insider’s build, week one of the Fate of the Damned is currently active.

Emergent Skeletons

  • During week one of the Fate of the Damned, players will now encounter emergently spawning green and purple Shadows of Fate Skeletons in the Shores of Plenty.

In-Game Event Tracking

  • The quick menu now contains a new ‘Events’ tab, showcasing the current events taking place across the Sea of Thieves.
  • Daily Bounties show both the current active Daily Bounty, along with upcoming Daily Bounties for you to schedule your play time.
  • Regular Events shows the current scheduled events that are taking place during the week.
  • Featured Events showcases the special challenges crews can tackle during the course of an update.

In this Insiders build, the Fate of the Damned campaign does not currently show in the Featured Events page. The Summer of Sea of Thieves Event has been reactivated to allow this functionality to be tested.

Updates

Captain and Crew Costumes

  • Captain and Crew functionality has been added to the Sea of Sands Captain and Crew bundle. Players who still own this set from a previous build should be able to share this set with anyone from their crew.

Shark Hunter Set

  • Following Insider feedback, the Shark Hunter set has been reworked and has now been delivered to the Outpost Shipwrights. The Shark Hunter Cannon, Capstan and Wheel are now available for purchase from the shipwright for 49,000 gold each.

Known Issues

Ashen Lords

  • When killing an Ashen Lord, the Ashen Chest that drops is empty.

Fate of the Damned

  • Merrick’s Voyage – When attempting the Voyage and dying at either Castaway or Fools Lagoon players cannot progress to Graymarrow.
  • Merrick’s Voyage – Players will be unable to take the Flames after migration.
  • Merrick’s Voyage – If a solo player dies against Graymarrow, the Voyage gets completed whilst they are on the Ferry of the Damned.
  • Grace and Duke’s Voyages – Graymarrow will spawn the incorrect colour skeletons during his encounter.
  • Grace’s Voyage – If the player starts the Heart of Fire Tall Tale whilst on the Voyage, there will be 2 Grace Morrow present.

Challenges of the Damned

  • The “Only Trying to Help” challenge does not unlock when killing a player.

Migration

  • Migration causes Tall Tale NPCs to vanish from Outposts, and any dropped loot on the floor vanishes for the player.

Tall Tales

  • During the Shroudbreaker Tall Tale the Ancient Chest will disappear and cause the Tale to be failed.
  • During the Heart of Fire Tall Tale, if a player migrates with the Mysterious Key the Tall Tale cutscenes will no longer trigger and the player will no longer be able to progress.

Cooking SFX

  • The cooking SFX on a ship does not work when a player returns from the Ferry of the Damned.

Video Settings

  • The Video Settings page does not scroll down, and the player cannot see the last option.

In-Game Event Tracking

  • The lowest level in the Event menu which describes goals and shows progression is currently inaccessible.

Fixed Issues

General

  • Going to the Ferry of the Damned and returning should no longer affect the textures on the Soulflame Captain and Crew costumes.
  • When the Ashen Curse is equipped it should now appear when on the Ferry of the Damned.
  • The new Aristocrat items found in Larinna’s Black Market now have the intended descriptions.
  • Treasure Vault Voyages for Devil’s Roar have been removed.

Challenges of the Damned

  • Players should now receive challenge progression upon reading the Fort of the Damned lore book.

Mysterious Notes

  • When a player completes the Mysterious Note, it should now be removed from the player’s radial.
