Insider Patch Notes 2.0.16.8

Insider Update 2.0.16.8 is now live! As we approach our next update, we are restricting our feature set to those we are planning on releasing in July. We will be focusing on Ashen Lords and identifying any wider issues that may appear in the game.

Ashen Lords

  • Ashen Winds Skull

  • Ashen Winds Skull charge depletion is now indicated by the skull coughing and spluttering.

  • Aiming speed with the skull has been increased.

  • Damage against other players has been reduced.

  • *World’s End Visual Effects *– World’s End ability visual effects now include a cloud that the rocks will fall from.

  • Ashen Winds Skull Damage – Hit detection when using the Ashen Winds Skull is now more consistent.

Updates

  • Accessibility

  • “Auto float in water” accessibility setting added, allowing players to float to the surface of water automatically.

  • This setting removes the player’s ability to swim down underwater. Turning it off will revert this.

  • Galleon Barrel Placement – The stack of five barrels on the bottom deck of the Galleon has been reduced in size to help improve performance.

Known Issues

  • Ashen Lord Rewards – Killing an Ashen lord in an area that has no dig spots will prevent loot from spawning.
  • Ashen Lord Skull Pile – During the opening ritual to an Ashen Lord encounter, the Ashen Lord model may remain a pile of skulls or appear at an angle if approached too quickly.
  • Shanty Selection – Instruments may be silent when played.
  • Ashen Winds Commendations – Stats are not firing for the Ashen Winds commendations. 
  • Ashen Wind Skull VFX* When using the Ashen Winds Skull on a moving ship the visual effects are not appearing to fire from the correct position. * After migrating the Ashen Winds Skull will be stuck in a low position when held by a player.
  • Ashen Lord Audio* The muffled audio effect persists after the “Ash Cloud” ability finishes until the player dies. * After defeating an Ashen Lord the final line of dialogue does not play.
  • Ashen Winds Rewards – Rewards for this event will instantly be given to the player and will appear in the Bilge Rat reputation page, rather than having to be unlocked in their respective stores.
  • Steam – Windowed display mode causes game to minimize itself.

Fixed Issues

General

  • Players will now be able to collect the red Flame of Fate from the Ferry of the Damned when killed by the Ashen Winds Skull.
  • When sinking a Ghost Ship and treasure becoming dropped in the water, following server migration the phantoms circling the rewards along with the rewards themselves will now appear on the new server.
  • Killing a player shortly after being revived and then reviving them again will no longer cause their animations to break.
  • The ships bell will now make a sound when being shot.

Ashen Lord

  • A cloud appears when the Ashen Lord casts their “World's End” ability.
  • The "Ashen Winds Skull Sail" will now be unlocked after completing the "Hunter of the Ashen Winds" commendation.
  • The Ashen Lords will no longer go back into their vulnerable state when all player active in the encounter leave and re-enter the island.
  • The Ashen Lord will no longer appear to shoot out fire when there is no charge left.
  • When approaching the Ashen Lord ritual, Skeletons will now correctly react to players.
  • A player’s head will no longer move in 3rd person view when aiming and firing he Ashen Wind Skull.
  • The Ashen Lords skull pile is now visible from a further distance.
  • Ashen Winds - The art for the Ashen Winds section in the Reputation tab is the same as the Ashen Treasures section
  • Dying and returning from the Ferry of the Damned no longer causes the Ashen Lords movement and animations to not play.
